Killie prove you can get at this Rangers team

977

I watched Kilmarnock previous home game against Inverness, as shambolic a defensive performance as I have seen in the SPL.  Shipping six goals against the team who were, and remain, bottom of the league is the kind of result that can decimate team morale, but St Johnstone’s result at Ibrox last week offered some encouragement that you can get at this this Rangers team.

It’s worth pointing out a few things.  Rangers are still four points clear at the top of the league, if we were in that position we would rightly be delighted and confident.  Pascali’s goal for Kilmarnock was also only their second goal conceded in eight SPL away games and only their seventh overall in 16 games – getting on for half a season.  By comparison, Celtic have conceded 14 goals, including three at Kilmarnock.

While that defensive record is commendable, the loss of Steven Naismith leaves them disproportionately dependent on Nikica Jelavic to maintain their goal-scoring threat, and Jelavic is not known for season-long durability.

When news came through that Sone Aluko had paid his transfer fee to become a Rangers player few of us expected him to make as quick an impact on the league table as he has, single-handedly playing three Kilmarnock players onside at the goal.  This is an unfortunate start to the player’s Rangers career but Rangers fans have a reputation for scapegoating (among other things).  For some, Aluko’s card is marked.  He’ll need a lot of talent to recover from this one.

Big week, next week. Win against Madrid could put us in good position to qualify. Next Sunday, just as important, bought my tickets from CFC instead of DUFC, so not in main stand but behind the goals for a change.

Heard Celtic were 2 – 0 up before we left for Murrayfield !

Saw my wee 15 yr old lad (only 6ft 1 inches tall) win in the Scottish Scholls Rugby Final vs Dollar Academy 38 – 0……

    Heard Celts had won 5 – 0

Celebrated both events with style and family and loved ones…..

Woke up feeling a bit fragile and was then given the best hangover cure ever in hearing Kilmarnock take 3 points against Rangers…..

    Who is Drew Barrymore ?

Ah if you mean the film ET, I believe ET is currently acting in england somewhere in the NW, on a programme called Coronation Street, he is playing someone called and I may be wrong with this, Gail Platt, or David’s Ma for the more enlightened, so he must be about 56.

    This ET is older, just.

Far too young to know that :)) but I do know it is so relevant today. Celtic have positioned themselves into the Domineering force in Scottish football (despite fierce resistance from the Establishment) but we must never get dragged down by the enemy.

Celtic is praised the World over, Tiocfaidh ár lá in Europe once again and our whole Being will be Cherished the way Barcelona are at this moment.

  12. Great weekend with the results and me finally becoming legal to go into a pub! We are going to win this league, their manager hasn’t experienced what it is like to go through a bad patch of form whereas neil went through it last year about this time with poor results at home. Confidence from our winning run and players coming back from injury, we will go unbeaten to the end of the season :-P

Plan for the next rangers game, everyone buy a packet of the haribo egg sweets and we chuck them at you know who.

Thought we would miss Broony’s drive, although not the best player

he gave the side balance and thought he was missed early on. Fast forward

and really can’t see him displacing James Forrest on current form, he’s alot

    more productive out wide.

  14. A few words on Gary Speed!

Met him socially on a few occasions, absolute Gentleman in every sense of the word.

Ultimate personification of what a Professional footballer should be!

Absolute Managers dream! Easy to get on with, always at the training ground [before time} really professional in every thing he did, ‘cracking player as well’!

I never even suspected he had a problem, which believe or not. is not uncommon, well, we are men!, so we don’t go there, especially in sport, ‘gives the opposition an advantage’ and all that! So what do we do?. We hide it!, some of us do, oh! and by the way, don’t think it can’t effect you!!! Wrong, it’s a chemical imbalance! A virus can bring it on, who knows, a cheap remark can trigger all sorts of things in our minds.

    Enough! you get the picture!

To Gary’s Family, only they know how great their loss is, however, for what it is worth,

I personally on behalf of our whole family, would like to express our deepest sympathy to them, they shall be in our prayers! Little enough,I think, at this time!

Mary of the Gael, pray for him!

  16. Watched the rangers game today on a dodgy feed. No commentary whatsoever, but you could hear the crowd (Billy Boys anyone?) and occasional shouts from the players clearly enough. Lost the feed after half time and ended up with Sky Brought home to me how good commentary can really add to the enjoyment of a game, and how bad (or biased) commentating can seriously detract from it. I think SKY do a pretty good job when covering the SPL. BBC and ESPN, erm, not so good.

Anyway, when Kilmarnock scored I genuinely thought there were a few Kilmarnock players who played as though they’d quite like a Rangers equalizer. Mistakes seemed to creep in at the back all of a sudden. Still, job done and down to 4 points. Keep the pressure on Celtic.

  17. I enjoy looking back over the posts in days like this. Pick of the day must be

Server crashes. Just like old times.

    —-

Rangers have now lost this season to:-

    – Malmo (who sit in their UEFA League Group with 0 pts),

    – Maribor (who sit with a far more respectable 1 pt!)

you will not be surprised that both are bottom of their group

    – Falkirk

    – and now Kilmarnock

It’s only a matter of time.

Doesnt surprise me what you say about Gary Speed…I always thought he oozed class whenever I watched him both as a player and a manager..

Tragic loss. I hope one good thing that will come out of it is that people will talk more openly about suicide and the feelings that can lead up to people making this terrible decision.

Depression is a potentially fatal condition…. We often don’t think about in those terms.

Ki is technically gifted and the kind of player who can turn 1-0 up in to 3-0 up not so sure he’s what we need when trying to turn a losing result in to a victory.

    He’d be good in a better league…

    WE will be victorious.
