As someone who a few months ago used this forum to openly voice my long, and still held reservations about rookie managers, I unreservedly congratulate Neil Lennon tonight. The joy and pride that any us are currently experiencing can be nothing compared to what is going on inside Neil’s head this evening.

For my own part I ask how one can be absolutely right and spectacularly totally wrong in the same breath.

In darkest October, I opined that Celtic’s form was so dire that the only consolation was that we would be spared the agony of yet another last day of the season surrender of an SPL title. As I said, unwittingly I got it dead right and dead wrong at the same time.

An added bonus today was, ahead of a potentially dodgy cup semi final, not only a return to form but, plus at 4-0, an iron willed refusal to concede even a single goal.

One slightly sour note. Did anyone else latch on to Burley pleading that he had been misunderstood.

I suppose that it would not be authentic quonno, if even tonight I did not stir the pot a little.

Much has been rightly made of three goal comeback in October at Killie. However, for me the real season changing moment came with Gary Hooper’s late goal that sealed victory against Rennes in early November. Neil Lennon described this particular victory as being miraculous.

As one of the old believers, I won’t be indulging in Jelly and Ice Cream until after midnight tonight.

Really couldn’t beat that today. The team were outstanding but the support were of another world. There is nothing I could add to what’s already been posted. Well done to our Family but thanks for hanging around Neil. You are immortal and we love you. HH.

    SOS,

Flattery gets you everywhere. You should throw a few more flowers at yourself….preferably Easter Lillies.

Anyway, I’m off “outwith” to break my Lenten fast. (“Outwith” means “outside”, but only in Scotland.)

That one will really confuse the Septics.

I’ve got a question for you all: CAN YOU HEAR THE RANGERS SING? NOOO NOOO… I can’t hear a f*cking thing!!!!

  9. today was everything I hoped it would be, only downside was that the Bhoy was working and not with me. Thanks to the 2 guys behind me in the East Stand ( about 4 feet in away from that fud Burley) for listening to my inane comments as I pontificated about all sorts , but in the main I was well behaved.

Highlights for me were the fans , especially the call and response chanting “Glasgows green and white ” magnificent!! At times the whole stand was shaking. The interview with NL had me fighting back tears, his face as we sang “Walk ON ” was a picture.

Just a fantastic day and fair play to Killie for letting us do our thing at full time, just need to collect the Bhoy from work then have a wee swally.

    Well done the Celtic family.

Well done Celtic, well done Neil Lennon, well done us !

I love Neil Lennon, he has brought us a title and he deserves every plaudit for pulling the team through a really tough time for the SPL and winning us the league, so cleanly and with so much style.

Great game, Killie no where to be seen, just like their fans. Celtics day though and the goals and play were a delight to watch. Lots of great points about this Celtic team. Strength to yout arm Neil and well done again.

    I love Celtic.

    Hail Hail

Good afternoon to the Celtic Family How does it feel to have the best young manager in the UK ? How does it feel to have the best young team in Scotland ? How does it feel that Rangers can get as many penalties as they like in the one game but it doesnt make any difference ? Today is Neil Lennons day today is the Celtic teams day today is the Celtic Families day. It truly is a great easter. H.H.

Big family birhday party in Skipton tonight – can’t get there cos of work in Oslo. But by t’miracle of t’internet have ordered big bottle of champagne to be delivered to birthday wumman’s table at 8pm. Birthday and title celebrations, and most of them been off the drink for Lent – it’s going to be a hooley and a half.

Ordinarily i would be bitter and twisted at not being there …. But tonight….. I could have a party in an empty room.

Thank you Celtic. Thank you Neil.

I don’t know if it’s down to the euphoria of today’s magnificent performance and victory and Neil’s first title win but I’m suddenly feeling in a forgiving mood towards Big Peter, our SSM, for January 2009.

What a beautiful morning to wake up to here in the States! I hope all the Tims in the UK and beyond are enjoying their evening. It’s a great day to be a Bhoy.

  23. seventyxseven 'gelee et glace' on

On BBC Scotland, in response to accusations of tainted title, a Falkirk supporter says, “It wasn’t Celtic’s fault that Rangers were caught with their pants doon!” – Out of the mouths of bairns!

Pat Nevin’s results of the day – Chelsea and Alloa.

    Dignity!!

  24. I’m getting fed up with this tainted title crap. For one thing, once a manager has captured the title, he is quite entitled and, some would say obligated, to start experimenting with his side by trying new formations or by giving young players a chance. If this results in dropping meaningless points, who cares what the end points tally is?

  25. pabloh_AKA_NEIL LENNON on

Absolutely delighted the way we won the league today, great attitude and great goals.

I think Charlie mulgrew sealed his POTY award today, outstanding.

Superb celebrations, credit to Kilmarnock letting our fans in and playing the music after.

Congratulations to Neil Lennon. What he’s been through, fighting back from -15 ; the best title comeback I’ve ever seen. 5 titles as a player, now a title and a Scottish cup as a manager, what a LEGEND.

Exactly. I have been saying (admittidly not on here) that since they went into administration. At the point of winning the league, we won it out the park. Martin O’Neill a few times, lost a lot of points after actually clinching the league.

  28. Almost time here in California to start the days celebrations.

We love you Neil Frances Lennon!!! Savour the day! Congratulations to our young team that brought us the seasons honours. TODAY is just the beginning!
