Ki’s remarkable transfer to Swansea

625

Best wishes to Ki Sung-Yeng who joined Swansea City today.  The Korean international joined Celtic in January 2010 but the subsequent arrival of central midfielder Beram Kayal, Joe Ledley and Victor Wanyama, curtailed his first-team opportunites.

Ki possesses excellent technique and can cover 50 yards as quickly as anyone at Celtic but he often failed to impose himself on games.  Selling a reserve player with 15 months left on his contract for a fee of around £6m is truly remarkable.  I am one of the players many admirers but I don’t know anyone who would pay anything like that money for him.

We Oscar 4 Life’ have organised a bucket collection for Dundee home game at CP on 22nd of September and require a Lorry Load of Volunteer collectors. To volunteer as a bucket collected please email us at weeoscar4life@gmail.com.

If only……Naw, he escaped from a Nazi POW camp in Poland. He was part of the Polish resistance and made his way to France and rowed across to England. He headed as far west as he could, finally getting to Tenby where he met his wife as she was milking the cows in the farm where he was sleeping rough in the barn. At that time obviously she wasn’t his wife. He couldn’t speak much English at the time but fell in love with her seaweed soup that she used to sneak out to him. He said that there was something special about staring at a woman across a cow pat encrusted bale of straw.

Anyway I asked him why he had stopped in Wales. “Was it his wife, the weather, the friendliness, the scenery? He said “No, I wasn’t a good enough swimmer to get to Ireland”.

  3. Good evening friends.

Glad to see there’s the (ahem) traditional Friday night quiz. To beer or not to beer, that is the question; or one of them anyway. Fishcakes, roast potatoes and garden peas garmished with vinegar and a generous dollop of brown sauce, just in case anyone’s interested.

  6. Firstly I’d like to thank all who have volunteered to help out ‘ Wee Oscar 4 Life’ bucket collection on the 22nd of September 2012.

I have spent many a day on here reading posts revelling in our clUBS charitable foundation. Today we are not asking for your money. We are asking for your time.

2 or 3 hours to help us help one of our own. How difficult can it be.

So Bhoys n Ghirls. Are you try formed of the Celtic ethos or do you just like to revel in the idea?

Please please please help us on the 22nd of September. We need 100 volunteers. So far we have 10 (and I thank each and every one of them) but we need more more more.

If you’d like to help raise funds for Wee Oscar then join us on the day.

I am glad a bucket collection has been arranged for Oscar and I hope the buckets are filled with the generosity of everyone who attends.

Finally Dave Ki – goodbye and good luck. I love the quote earlier about if we signed a £6m midfielder. I would expect someone who could thrive in our environment and be a leader for our squad. I’ll never forget that cup final but that is probably my only memory of you.

Nice to see all you friendly CQNers saying our Georgios should not go the way of sergio Ramos and Swedish Bhoy by having a short back and sides.

  15. Good business to get £6m for Ki

Think he would be superstar in Spain and if Laudrup moves back there my bet would be he will take Ki with him

Negatives As supporters would we rather have Ki or the money? My opinion is that it only becomes great deal when we re invest the £6m into the team

After all PL is forever telling us that any monies brought in are pumped back into the team Well we have 7 days to hold him to his word Should be interesting week lol

I love the whole of South Wales, and West in particular. I played football down there for years in Ammanford, (Rhydamman), my Daughters are Welsh speakers and I learned a lot of the Lingo myself although most of it now is just a shadow of a memory.

Mind you, some in the valleys could do without thinking the whole world is going to collapse in on them at any moment! :-)

I wrote a story once (naw!!) about how (I think) Norman Bates went to Wales and developed a shower curtain fetish. He found it a strange place and so came to Glasgow where he had some formative experiences before opening a motel somewhere in California.

It is based on facts only known to me!
