La Liga president steps into Catalonia debate

719

President of La Liga in Spain has stepped into the Catalonian independence referendum debate by saying if Catalonia became independent clubs from that region, notably Barcelona and Espanyol, would have to leave the Spanish league and compete within their new domestic boundaries.

This claim is without foundation as multinational ‘domestic’ leagues are authorised by Uefa, Fifa and the EU, while Spanish clubs are able to compete with foreign clubs in European competition, but this intervention is likely to be one of the more emotive topics in the Catalonian debate.  Would Barcelona fans vote for Catalan independence if it required them to withdraw from the Spanish league and hand back their status as one of the game’s world powers?  Some would, some wouldn’t.

Football is the key cultural touchstone of European nations.  Those who want to preserve the Spanish nation know this.  Excluding Scottish clubs from the England and Wales football market has an enormous commercial impact on top-flight clubs here.  It also means that our key cultural touchstone is Scottish.

Those who want to build a cohesive UK would be more productive by working to end the exclusion of Scottish clubs from the England and Wales league than telling nationalists they would be wrong to hold another referendum.

Popcorn and ginger on hand for the latest Newco Rangers episode.  Flash mobs and EGMs, all destined to further tear the club apart.  As we’ve said here for years, internecine strife is the only thing that can really damage a club. That lot seem to have a infinite supply of the stuff.

Shake Up Needed In PR Dept!

People in comfortable positions often become stale and forget the purpose of their jobs, that’s just a fact of life.

Unfortunately, the folks in Celtic’s Public Relations department have fallen into this trap. Their recent failure to protect under fire manager Ronnie Deila from a baying press pack who’s sole intent was to turn his words into an attack on Neil Lennon was criminal.

And it’s not the first time this has happened.

As manager of Celtic, and every man who’s been in this position will verify, you are under constant scrutiny for anything that happens on the park and off it. Each have and had their own different way of dealing with the press who’s job it seems to undermine the occupant at every turn.

Jock, partly because of his size had the press shit scared of him. Billy had his fair share of run-ins, Martin O’Neil just baffled them and wee Gordon put them firmly in their place with sarcasm.

These men didn’t really need protection because they’d been round the block so to speak.

But let’s not forget the treatment of Neil Lennon at the hands of the Scottish media. they set out from the very first day he pulled a Celtic strip over his head to make his life difficult, to say the least. And when he became gaffer, it was like open season for the hounds who managed to stir up enough hatred that Lenny was attacked on several occasions. Among other things.

All this time our PR dept sat on their hands and gave the media a free run.

This has to change. We need people in their who will protect the manager and the players, someone withe the club truly at heart, not just a nice bloke. Either that or you can expect the media, as they are doing, to ramp up the pressure not only on Ronnie and the players, but you and me when supporting the club. It’s happening right before our very eyes.

This is just to give you a wee laff, I’ve no idea how it all ended. From the Celtictaxcase’s Blog, March 2012, remember that?:

This blog was set up to highlight potential financial doping by Celtic Football Club. In less than 24 hours of painstaking research though my investigation has went way beyond financial doping and way beyond Celtic Football Club.

What I believe I have uncovered could be potentially explosive with Celtic FC used as a vehicle for some seriously dodgy dealings which would leave the clubs reputation in such tatters it would be damaged beyond repair and in need of being put to sleep like a lame race horse.

Let me give you a little bit of a history lesson…

01/09/2005 Du Wei (China captain) signs for Celtic / 15/12/2005 Roy Keane (Ireland captain) signs for Celtic

Coincidence? Maybe… But what is the old phrase? Lightening never strikes twice?

01/09/2009 Zheng Zhi (China captain) signs for Celtic / 31/01/2010 Robbie Keane (Ireland captain) signs for Celtic

    But what does this mean???!!!

Regular readers of the blog will know all about my expose on Dermot Desmonds dealings with former Irish Taoiseach Charles Haughey and the well documented Moriarty Tribunal.

Further investigation has linked Charles Haughey to Ben Dunne (entrepreneur and inventory of Dunnes stores) who is allegedly looking to branch Dunnes Stores to the expanding market in China?

So what part does China, Ireland and Celtic play in this? Will the British tax payer who has recently bailed out Ireland be happy to find they are possibly maybe in cahoots with the Chinese?

Why were Chris Killen and Derek Riordan (both signed by Dermot Desmond) plying their trade in China?

What role do the Keane’s, Zheng Zhi and Du Wei have in all of this?

    WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPENING!?

At the moment I do not know. I’m not going to get involved in whataboutery I will wait until I have actual solid reliable evidence before I accuse Mr Desmond or Celtic FC or China or Ireland or any wrong doing. All I know is that I can smell a rat a mile off in this who sordid web of deceit, lies and maybe backhanders too.

Be safe that I’m going to see this through to the end. Celtic, if they are involved in this potential alliance between the Irish Republic and China will struggle to ever recover. Remember bears…. The Boyne wasn’t won in a day. More digging for me tomorrow. FACT!

Blantyrekev of this Parish , told me about 18 months ago that Mike Ashley would be the man that emerged as the saviour of Rangers.

Ever since then I have been keeping an eye on his dealings.

    First of all.

Why would he be motivated to buy them?

The purchase of a football club by an individual is not done with the primary goal to make money .

It is done mostly for the ego.

Mike Ashley took over NUFC when they had debts that amounted to hundreds of millions of pounds.

He then spent further hundreds of millions to establish that he would be required to spends billions to get to the very top and into the CL.

He cut the cloth accordingly , and his reward has been vitriolic abuse from the Geordie fans.

Mike Ashley wants to be loved.

He would be idolised by the Zombie hordes.

A modest spend of say between £10 m to £20m on players would almost certainly win the SPFL.

It is loose change to Mike Ashley.

    Secondly .

    He needs to sell NUFC.

Well there have been rumours in England for over 6 months that he has a buyer lined up.

Yes they may be infighting just now.

But money will talk in the end.

Mike Ashley would be very motivated to spend and succeed .

Our board led by Dermot Desmond have already travelled that road , and will not repeat the journey.

We are in for a period of being second best if Mike Ashley takes control of The Rangers.

  12. Shenanigans at I Rox is a misery for Rangers fans and mild amusement for Celtic fans but it is an absolute God Send for Peter Lawwell.

It takes the eye off the ball .. Media nd fans in general cast their eyes to what might happen at Hunco.

This combined with International break takes the heat of the abject failure going on at our own club and the pointless ‘strategy’ we are all supposed to be grateful for.

On the bright side we don’t have to watch high tempo but ultimately deflating football inspired by cheapo management team of RD and JC.

  13. TinyTim,

Ashley has said that he won’t be selling Newcastle until at least the end of next season.

I think his interest in the southsiders is simply to squeeze as much money out of them as he can and then run.

  15. Green piñata

I respect your loyalty but I’m scunnered that we appear to be squandering an opportunity to put miles of Green water between ourselves and every other club in Scotland.

Celtic will be hosting crowds of 15,000 soon. Aberdeen are getting 13000. Only difference is Aberdeen pay their players between £1-2k a week. Making them likely to be able to compete with us if BIG CHANGES are not made soon.

I can only blame this on very poor management. Ultimately I can not support Lawwell, Delia and Collins.. They are not what we need.
