CELTIC fans overwhelmingly voted for BT Sport’s coverage over rivals Sky in CQN‘s exclusive poll.
We asked the supporters for their preference following the news the satellite giants had signed a £100million five-year deal to exclusively show Premiership action from 2020/21.
Sky grabbed the monopoly of the Scottish top flight while BT Sport got the boot.
That agreement, however, was not welcomed by the fans – far from it, judging by the results of our poll. The feedback, from the 554 supporters who cast their vote, was incredible.
BT Sport received an amazing 98 per cent of the poll from 541 voters.
Sky were a poor second with only 13 followers casting their vote in their favour, a mere 2 per cent.
The producers at Sky didn’t help their cause with the publicity image they tweeted to signal the TV agreement.
It portrays a smiling Steven Gerrard to the forefront while Brendan Rodgers is the smaller image, almost skulking in the background.
CQN said at the time it was a massive own goal and so it has proved. We believe the fans have every right to let their feelings be known and we thank each and every individual who took the time to vote in our poll.
Chris Sutton, one of the main match analysts at BT Sport, has promised they will continue to give their best for the remaining 18 months of their existing contract and, after that, Scottish top-flight football is in the hands of Sky.
We can only hope they make a better job of it than their so-called publicity gurus who appear to believe Gerrard and his Ibrox team deserve to be at the forefront of our game.
Maybe they’ll change their mind when the deal kicks in and the champions are chasing 10 in a row!
