LENNY BACK IN EURO BIG-TIME

1

FORMER Celtic boss Neil Lennon is back in the European big-time.

The two-times Hoops gaffer has led Cypriot minnows Omonia Nicosia to a remarkable 4-0 aggregate victory over the Belgians of Gent to earn a place in today’s Europa League group stages draw.

Lennon’s men shocked their much-fancied opponents with a 2-0 victory in Belgium last week and followed it up with an identical scoreline in their home match.

THE WAY AHEAD…Neil Lennon is looking forward to the Europa League draw today.

Ex-Parkhead defender Adam Matthews, who joined his one-time manager in Cyprus in the summer after leaving Charlton, was outstanding in both ties.

And former Ibrox winger Brandon Barker, who was with Lenny during his spell at Hibs when he joined on loan from Manchester City, played his part in the eye-catching triumph when he came off the substitutes’ bench in the second-half.

However, there will not be an Old Bhoys’ Reunion with international keeper Craig Gordon, who joined Hearts when his Celtic contract ended in the summer of 2020.

The Tynecastle outfit blew their chance of reaching today’s ballot when they lost 1-0 to FC Zurich in Edinburgh to exit the competition after last week’s 2-1 defeat in Switzerland.
