Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

    Aye, I know >}

Still like to question things mind you, it’s healthy to imo.

Imagine where we would be if we had believed without question, nothing to see here Timmy, move along now.

    Yes

This was discussed last night, from the perspective – as anticipated earlier in the day – that Reporting Scotland would not have the balls to address the conduct of the lead officer which had been detailed at considerable length within the BBC website report.

No. I’m relying on you working a bit of magic with your extensive network of contacts!

I hope I’m right (the Hibbee too)!

There’s a lot of medical people on the blog tonight.

  4. Good evening friends

Kelvinbhoy – just noticed your post a wee while ago. Thanks for that, particularly as I was along at 8.00pm Rosary there and nothing was announced!

CQN first with all the news right enough! ;-)

It will be interesting to see if the Catholic Church have anything to say on this matter.

My tuppence worth on James Forrest is that he is certainly a talented player that still has to mature it is most frustrating when he thinks he has been fouled he just stops and flings his arms in the air.I thought you learned at primary school you allways play to the whistlel but james seems to have missed that part of his football education. For me that petulance spoils him as a player I hope he grows out of it. H.H.

Unfortunately my extensive network of contacts make up November lists nowadays.

My doctorate is, of course, not medical but philosophical.

I, too think that we will moider them. We certainly should. Victor’s absence is not encouraging but we always play better when Broonie plays.

TBH I’d be more interested in what Stephen House had to say about the conduct of one of his officers.

The attack was ruthless, brutal and barbaric, but it wasn’t cowardly.

    I agree

As I said earlier, when losing the ball JF acts like a teenager having been asked to tidy their room – when played wide he offers his full back zero assistance

Unfortunately IMO he is a long way from being the footballer his attitude suggests he believes himself to already be.

  15. My brother and his wee lad have been let down at the last minute with the promise of tickets for sunday, they have flights and hotel paid for, he’s considering now paying for hospitality tickets at £125 through restaurant 29, anybody have experience of this and if they are reliable enough. The lack of tickets here in the six counties is the worst i have known except for seville, cheers.

Me too but it might take a statement from the church to prompt Stephen House.

  17. What I have noticed in our recent performances,at last we are defending further up the field,to me that is a big factor I like to see in our game, get in there faces, in there own half, and the rest takes care of itself, if we turn-up of course.

  18. Jobo, hope you are well. I picked that up from the website and have just spoken to my brother in law who is in The Holy Land with Fr Nolan and he confirmed details. Great to see that he is to be buried in EK.

Hope you have a ticket for Sunday, young Ben and I will be heading to Hampden via my mates for a Cup Final Brunch….Hail Hail

  19. I understand what Ernie is saying, the 2 guys hung around and waited for the Police and charged at them too. Obviously at that stage it was a hundred against two, so no in the strict sense of the word you could not call them cowardly. However there is hundreds of words in the Dictionary that you could call them and still not do justice to the horrible nature of the crime.

    Conundrum 1

Is a complaint of abuse a real complaint about real abuse, or the vengeful outpourings of deluded people who seek to exact revenge on someone/anyone for real or imagined slights and hurt, or someone looking to start a lawsuit?

    Conundrum 2

Is it impossible to find a police supervisor with enough common sense to allocate an investigation concerning representatives of one minority religion to someone who has NOT already paraded their prejudices against that particular religion?

    Conundrum 3

When the case report was sent to the PF, did no-one in that office consider the broader implications of #2 above?

    Conundrum 4

When someone is found not guilty under these circumstances does that indicate a badly motivated prosecution, a lack of proper evidence, a bad investigation, a dodgy prosecution presentation, or a combination of all of these and more.

    Modern conundrums are rubbish.

I suggest you check out the meaning of cowardly.

I understand you disapprove of the attack.

I understand that cowardly is an insult.

But that doesn’t mean the attack was cowardly.

It was neither courageous nor cowardly.

  32. Imagine the police under an independent Scotland…

The police investigation into the policing of the GB on the Gallowgate has concluded that ‘officers were completely engulfed by

an angry mob’ and that by 1pm there were

‘2-300′ marchers’. Funny how none of the video footage supports that.

They might as well go all the way now and make it a police state were they can round us up at night, put a bullet through our head and dump our bodies down a disused mineshaft.

  33. Going to watch the first episode of the fall as discussed earlier today, it is worth a viewing.

Hope there’s no durty bit’s in it as my fifteen year old bhoy is wathing it with me…and his teamaking skills are crap :-)
