Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

Your point is well made. This is a concern to me that JF pops up declares he is available, despite erratic game time and form, add to this the almost certain inclusion of the dis-interested Hooper and that Scott Brown is fighting to get fit.

Do we really think Hibs are so poor we can start with 8 fully fit men then do remedial changes on the run.

This strategy if applied is flawed, and has Juventus mark 2 all over it.

Hibs have a less than fit CB so we should have Watt running him al over the park.

Since we’ve come to expect zero transparency & fairness from any regulatory or control body in Scotland, I have been hoping to have my paranoia justified and vindicated by a comprehensive finding of collusion, guilt and chicanery from a non Scottish interest.

I have recent professional dealings with BDO.e

I have no inside knowledge of the Rangers case.

My dealings with them lead me to believe they will expose nothing .

They will take there money and slip quietly away.

A few weeks ago Tommy The Taxi Driver called up Cohen of BDO. He was pretty unenthusiastic about having anything to do with reversing the D&P – Green sale regardless of any dodgy dealings. As you say they’ll go through the motions and swan off with their money.

I am pretty sure that the only reason that the final is on Sunday is to allow the SFA to attend the Champions League Final at Wembley, as part of the FA’s 150th Anniversary, otherwise why not kick off at three on the Saturday? Wonder how many freebies are on offer? Even so the Cup final is one of the big events over the holiday weekend, along with an EPL playoff on the Monday. Radio 5 is broadcasting the game on Sunday, along with BBC Scotland so a good opportunity for us to finish the season on a high note with a fair bit of decent publicity. And Roddy Forsyth! Lenny needs to get his tactics right, Scott Brown to right of midfield, and if he does the ol’ Scottish Cup is taking that short trip back to Celtic Park!

Hmmmm……..Ole NFL like any other manager has favourites and I’d like to hear his analysis of how he expects the midfield to function in his format, for specific games?

Neil is on record of saying he wants James Forrest in the side when fit!, – because he can run, and hold the ball stretching defences wide. IMHO he wasn’t fit/ready for the game you pinpoint against Juve.

Where JF’s selection can be less effective is when Kris Commons starts as well? and I prefer one or other, as neither of them could tackle a fish supper, leaving us struggling in midfield.

In fairness, I thought wee James was favourite to be hooked at Hampden against Utd, but up he popped with the winning cross.

European Tour chief executive George O’Grady has apologised for using the racially insensitive word “coloured” in an interview defending Sergio Garcia.

O’Grady described many of Garcia’s friends as being “coloured athletes.”

SSB debating whether or not we have had a good season …..hurtin’ bhun pundits ……. They need to start appreciating that, in order to protect their jobs / Scottish Football, they will need to change their anti-Celtic culture, not that I give a monkey’s cuss ….. they are part of the rotten LL, and that bias is what got their favoured Club Liquidated, to be folled soon by their tribute act…….. hilariously ironic……

  31. I’ll be happy if James Forrest plays the same role as he did against St Johnstone .

Having the freedom to play right across the attack worked well for him and the team.

I’m not so keen on him when he’s isolated on the wing .

Start off with a strong mid-field then bring on one or two flair players second half.
