Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

Wishful thinking on my part as ALL of the bhoys with us are playing football Sunday morning so getting anywhere before 12:30 might be an issue.

Was just wanting a backup plan will probably stay on Main st and stumble out pub onto a no12 to the ASDA.

    Cheers

I was in London ten years and yeah it’s not unusual to see such things but on watching those videos the inconsistencies are very unusual! The timing of events are what always interests me..

If the club decides to offer cut-price season books for the back end of next season, we won’t know until about December.

Another option ought to be, in my opinion, formally buying a half season to attend 50% of games across the whole season. In other words, two people who can only afford the time or money to attend half the time effectively share a seat.

Obviously two people can do this informally at the moment, but I think it would be better to formalise it and I have asked a number of times if there are any moves afoot to do so.

If you know well enough to share a SB with someone who wants to go to 50% of games, the chances are it will be a friend or a family member and you would probably prefer to go with them. I think this is one obstacle. Another is the logistics involved in handing over the single card from one game to the next. I have done this with one of my brothers (whom I don’t live near), but another brother was always at the game to take the card and pass it on or bring to Celtic Park for the next game.

Another that people flag up is that a person with a 50% season book might forget when it was his or her turn to have the seat or turn up for the wrong game trying to get in.

The technology must be there to distribute two cards for the same seat but for the card-reader only to admit the right person for the particular day. The club could easily send a reminder by text and email to remind you when one of your games is coming round.

A third problem is that, in an ideal world, it would probably be best for someone quite far away to share with someone living quite close to Celtic Park. I think one of the most off-putting things for travellers is that so many games are being played at times other than 3pm Saturday. To make it for a league game on a Wednesday night in December and get home in time to get to your work the next morning is a hard task for Celtic fans in Ireland or England. So if you were sharing with someone close to Glasgow, they could have the games with the more challenging kick-off times.

Sorry for the long answer, but I think it’s an important question for a lot of Celtic fans who cannot get to Celtic Park for every game.

I hear through a mate at work that Sevco will unveil a ‘glamour’ signing on Saturday (don’t laugh).

Oh, well – that’ll overshadow the Scottish Cup final.

Could turn out to be the shortest contract in history right enough…

LiviBhoy-a couple more ti1$ would not go amiss, though Misser spends more time on the sunbed, thus keeping his heid like a peanut.

Bars in Sa Coma – there is an Irish bar on the road between Sa Coma and the next town you can get the wee train down at the beach and it will leave you off at it. If your pushed for time there is a couple of english bars with Sky TV just up from the beach that you could watch it in.

    Where are you staying ?

  7. Let it be Misser, that would really be funny…

Live and direct from the U S of A, the man you’ve all been waiting for, Kenny Misser…

  8. Afternoon Celts,

Had to pop out for a bit, many thanks to those who responded re the clipless pedal technology, I’m definitely going for it. I went into a Halfords and looked at the technology including the various pedals, the cleats which attach to the shoes, and the shoes themselves, it still seems a wee bit weird attaching your shoes to the pedals, I’ll take the advice and get lots of practice on the QT.

I am fascinated by conspiracy theories, I am a photographer and I am amazed by the amounts of photographs posted by people which they claim shows something which it clearly doesn’t.

It’s seems that we have some things in common, the third photo is the second one turned upside down by the look of it and the fifth a close of the fourth, the first photo the body could be ‘shopped in, my initial interest is in the video I saw yesterday, a guy covered in blood and carry two chibs comes up to you in the street and you film him?? Not me I’d be on my toes sharpish!

I tend not to believe anything much anymore from both sides of the pond and even here in nice little Switzerland they have a tidy little line in propaganda, anti immigrant, anti muslim etc..

My thought is always this, Handy for a struggling corrupt at war gov’t that wee story..

Doris down the laundrette has got more clues than most..
