Lock up game’s tax deviants

887

The football industry is busy with its twice-a-year transfer jamboree this week but there will scarcely be a player, manager or executive in the country who isn’t daily checking on Harry Redknapp’s on-going court case into his alleged tax arrangements.

Harry, of course, is one of the game’s popular figures, everyone likes him, including me, but his evidence yesterday, that he’s been told “The problem with you is you’re named Harry and you have a cockney accent”, will have the nation pondering if he’s another victim of the systemic prejudice against white, wealthy, indigenous-named, senior and successful people from London.  There must surely be a support group he can join.

I’m sure Harry’s innocence will be established but the law and tax authorities are right to pursue any doubt that exists in the running of the game, without fear or favour.  Where appropriate, pursue the guilty through criminal, not just civil, courts.  Only then will the innocent be sure of a level playing field. Lock ‘Em Up, as a Cockney may observe.

  10. Re the tax case. I can’t figure out in me head when there will be justice. Unless there’s something very peculiar going on, wangers are in about as much doodoo as an organisation can be in.

Ftt tribunal – it looks like there will be justice there – a proper system will look at their use of EBTs to augment salaries

Is that where the justice will be?

If found guilty and they go into liquidation, a newco starting in a lower tier – is that the justice ?

Rescinding titles won with players bought by’dodgy money’?

Dream housemate for new boy Fleck

John Fleck warming up before his Blackpool debut against Crystal Palace.

    By Steve Canavan

    Published on Wednesday 25 January 2012 14:02

John Fleck is currently living the dream in more ways than one.

On top of getting his wish to join Blackpool on loan, the 20-year-old is lodging with a bloke he used to cheer from the terraces as a young lad.

Fleck is a huge Rangers fan and was a regular at Ibrox in the days when Barry Ferguson was skipper.

The Seasiders new boy now finds himself staying with Ferguson until he gets himself a house sorted on the Fylde. Moving into Arties Hotel was a dream, the host Vinny is some man, but he should wear socks when serving breakfast,

I mean Bullit, ma dug, isnae used to barefooted strangers, but anyways ………

Fleck said: “Barry was Rangers captain when I was growing up, so he is someone I’ve always looked up to. I was with him at Rangers when I was a bit younger and it was a bit strange to be at the same club as someone you used to watch and admire.

“But now I’ve got used to it and it is just great to be playing with him again. His how naw to get booked while pleading innocence after hurtin someone stay behind lessons at Murray park were an edukation themselves”

“It has helped me settle in at the club too – being with the likes of Barry and Danny Wilson, who I also know from Rangers.

“All the lads at Blackpool have been great with me. I could see straight away what good team spirit there is, and that was obvious in the way we were able to come back from a goal down on Saturday and win.”

Fleck is on loan until the end of the season and made his debut in the win over Palace.

Playing in his favourite position, somewhere on the pitch, he almost scored a stunning goal but his curling shot just beat the post settling near the corner flag.

“It would have been nice to get a goal in my first game and it was a bit unfortunate it didn’t go in, but I’m sure if I keep having a go, a goal will come at some stage,” he added. But the offside rules here, and the nearly non contact nature of the sport, and the weird impartial refereeing, it makes it really difficult to score a proper goal”

He’d like it to happen on Saturday, when he gets his first taste of the FA Cup as the Seasiders host Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Fleck said. “Obviously the FA Cup is a massive competition in England, and it will be good to play in it and hopefully help Blackpool progress.“I want to play as often as I can and help the team win as many games as possible, again though the draw is strange, why should any team in tanga-orange have to play a nearly big team, at Rangers it was much fairer, home games till the semi allways against the shitiest team , and then the lowest league draw, thats what the tv companies pay for.”

And Blackpool is a special place, there lots of good Scottish names down here, the Martins and the Campbells are all well know, and Dunky, the taxi guy took me here, and said as soon as i settle in we can go to the Royal Oak, the Conservative club and the Winchester, and i cant wait, if ever there were Unionist type establishments it must be them. Not to sure about Saint Cuthberts, he mentioned, but then again, its England , no chance of any Kaffy types aroon.

Fleck added though, I am glad La Liga options didnt work out, these guys, offered me a single contract, never seen it before at Rangers we allways had 2 or 3 (with image rights for TK Maxx), i dont trust these fly by night guys.

    anyways,

    thats my taxi

    hello Duncan ,

  25. Ach, those interviews.

Is this coincidence that on the same day, Zlatan Muslimovic and Jaroslaw Fojut give interviews about their experiences in Glasgow ? Probably not.

Previous quotations in my posts were with authorisations, this one is not with authoristation.

Bosnian journalist: Zlatan, you were the trialist with Glasgow Rangers. How did you know about their interest in you?

ZM. Actually, my agent who regularly watches STV and other programs told me that the Glaswegians were looking for a striker. It took me less than five minutes to make decision and fly to Glasgow.

Bosnian journalist: Did you know anything about Glasgow Rangers before you flew to the city?

ZM.: I knew they were big team. I still hear that Ally McCoist is fantastic coach who can recognize great striker not only on the pitch but when he sees the man walking up the stairs.

Bosnian journalist: This is unbelievable. Is it really true?

ZM.:Yes, that is true. That is what has happened to me.

Bosnian journalist.: How does it come? If he recognizes good striker in man walking up the stairs why you spent only one day with them and left the city? You are great striker. Are you not?

Actually, I’m self confident man and was sure about the contract. Things turned bad at the end of my stay there. When I joined their team training in the morning, somebody came to me and gesticulating shown few cars. Before I finished watching the cars, the training session was finished. I run quickly to the building to let Ally seeing me walking up the stairs. We had short conversation after.

Half the way I heard a shout: Hey, young man. Aren’t you great striker?

I said: Yes, Ally. I’m a striker. I would be happy if you can offer me a contract.

-What contract? We are not looking for the striker. Hmmm. Now I know where all these rumors come. I told one of the journalists that we are looking for a driver, he heard striker and the media keep fake news repeating.

Bosnian journalist: Are you disappointed, Zlatan?

ZM.:Yeaaah, you know. I can’t be disappointed. I’m a good driver but have no driving license for a bus. They need somebody who will go with them to Edinburgh.

Bosnian journalist.: Now I understand why the media said you were not good enough for them. Having driving license for car is not the same with having driving license for a bus. What now, Zlatan?

ZM.: Now I’ll be going where Nikica told me the clubs need a striker. Maybe West Ham United?

    Bosnian journalist.: Good luck then.

Polish journalist: Jaroslaw, are you happy with a move to Celtic?

JF. Yes, I’m absolutely delighted for the move. You know, when I was four and five years old kid and I played football with my mates near Warsaw, everybody dreamed to be Wdowczyk, stopping all these poor Rangers players.

Polish journalist.: Since when you are aware of Celtic interest?

JF.: Actually, I was aware of Celtic interest since I was born. When they need you, you simply feel that, you know that.

Polish journalist.: But it’s the newspapers term “on the radar”. It’s often used and the media say : you must be on the radar first to be signed for club A or B. Have you been on Celtic radar? If, yes, since when?

JF.: Media say a lot of strange things. The only media I read is CQN. From there you know the ways Celtic do their job.

One of the articles was “Celtic work remains below-radar” If they worked on the radar, they would not know me till I was 1,80 m tall man. .Work below radar means they watch you in the games since you are 4 years old kid. That’ how they found me.

  26. Moonbeams please pass on my regards to estadio…had a wee difference of opinion with him last year…but nothing lasting ..miss his posts. Hh
