It has been an emotionally charged week for the players and focus around the club will be on weighty matters of history, of what we are all about. You can be sure, however, that Derek McInnes and his Aberdeen players have only one thing on their minds.
Aberdeen can win the Scottish Cup on Saturday. They need to play at their very best, and will need Celtic to perform as they did earlier in the competition against St Mirren, but 90 minutes passes quickly at Hampden, and you and I both know to take nothing for granted.
No one is going to drink in the celebrations of 1967 more than me, but we have won only two trebles since then. The current team deserve every inch of preparation possible. They are already one of the great Celtic teams, with an undefeated treble they can look the Lisbon Lions straight in the eye.

The Lions were paraded on a coal lorry when they reached Celtic Park on 26 May 1967. We have a coal lorry, we have the Lions. This will be an incredible event. There’s also a live band.

I knew that I had seen the best of Celtic and would never see the like again and the boss man in Koh-i-Noor gave me his recipe for the Full Bhuna Lamb….which I duly lost!!
50 years after Celtic released football from the shackles of anti football, Manchester United dragged it back to the dark place.

Brilliant documentary. Like the guy doing most of the talking I can’t help tearing up watching this stuff. Was hoping to see some of the homecoming footage. I vaguely remember my Dad saying it would be way too busy to walk down to parkhead to see the bhoys bring the trophy home, so we missed out. Remember looking out the window down Alexandra Parade with streams of Celtic fans holding up traffic. What a special, special time to have been a Celtic fan.

BBC Programme about The Lisbon Lions was excellent.
The old footage of Glasgow, and the Celtic fans heading to games brought back the memories, as I was 11 and a half when Celtic won the Big Cup.
My Dad drove to Lisbon with about 11 of his Taxi pals, wouldn’t take me cos it was a Jolly Bhoys outing…nae place for weans ?
