A quick straw poll suggests we’re happy with £2m for Adam Matthews, although Sunderland will be happier, having signed what is likely to be a first team player for what is a bargain fee in the English league. For Celtic, the player had only a year left on his contract, and was not first choice when Mikael Lustig was available. On other occasions we would struggle to get £500k.
A few factors supported Adam’s marketability and price. He is part of a successful Wales team who are likely to reach Euro 2016. Scouts from all over Europe watch Wales and it’s unlikely you’d be able to sign any of that team for less than £2m.
There’s also the Joe Ledley and Victor Wanyama effect. Joe and Victor were Celtic contemporaries of Adam and both are solid performers for EPL clubs. Don’t even ask me about what’s going on with Daryl Murphy at the moment, as it beats any rational explanation I can come up with.
Having 20 hugely wealthy neighbours comes with lots of problems, but if we are going to lose players to England, it’s better to lose them on our own terms – when we are in a position to start a fresh building process, than have events overtake us, as appears to be happening at Tannadice this year.

Echoes some of my thoughts and feelings.
My mum and dad took me to mass from day 1.
To me it seemed like a chore.
As I’ve gotten older, my priorities have changed( 4 mins left of my 46th birthday)
Prayer has become important to me.
It gives me a warm glow.
I have a feeling that I’m being looked after.
Instead of a habit , I now look forward to going to mass.

Don’t be disappointed, I am a total non-believer (at times) but as far as I am concerned being a Catholic and having faith has never harmed anybody, both my parents relied on their faith and I know for a fact their faith got me through both funerals, no sad stories they both lived to a great age but young or old when you realise they won’t be there it strikes a chord, too this day I will always question my faith but hopefully tomorrow I will always appreciate it

Last year was a poor one in Europe
The qualifers were an embarrasment for our club , followed by the group of mediocre endinf with a game against the worst inter Milan team in living Memory
We have had tub thumping and spin about the ronny roar , diets , different training while we beat the mighty Ross county and Aberdeen. Aberdeen were the best of a bad lot Indeed if all our CL qualifiers we’re always against teams like aberdeen , then the fans can book the time off now for CL
Unfortunately teams like dukla Prague will be in our way , to beat these teams out defenders have to be 100% on the ball
Our strikers have to score
And our midfield have to be powerful
Also our manager has to have the tactics to beat european opposition
In all above we fail
Dukla is a marker. We are not even close reaching it :)
If the game against Spanish opposition is similar , I fear for our CL income generating chances

A lovely piece of music. One of the comments hits home;

Visited the war museum in Saigon today and was absolutely shocked to see the effects it still has on todays innocents. The pictures of mutilated bodies, the grotesque images of stillborn babies and the pictures of deformed babies as a result of the spraying of agent orange on an innocent people.
Images of bodies being dragged behind US tanks and thrown “alive” from US helicopters will stay with me for life.
I witnessed a group of young people playing keyboards, making jewellery and selling mementos of our visit to their country.
Some of them had no eyes, some missing limbs, others grossly deformed, but all were smiling. The tears rolled down my face as I tried to understand WHY?
Reading the exchanges earlier regarding ISIS, anyone who wants to “Bomb the bastards”, should go and see what I witnessed today – It would change your mind.

If anybody has children, they should – need to – imagine them being in these places, it’s the only way I can think of which forces the mind to consider the impact of what we say and write.
ISIS are a despairing emptiness, a litany to the barbaric capacity of man. They are as close to evil as I can imagine, and in the name of a god. The cold heartless husks of the western suits are no better, only degrees of separation from the blood discriminate them.
