McInnes proves point with second win over Celtic

789

The clean sheet record had to go eventually, so I’m pleased it went to a good goal, not an error by Fraser, which would have been harsh on the big keeper.  Having already recorded Celtic’s, then Scotland’s league clean sheet record, the British and European records were within touching distance, but that is now a matter for next season.

Months ago, when Virgil van Dijk first suggested we could go through the league season without defeat I said we were not nearly consistent enough to achieve this.  Ironically, last night’s defeat came after a sustained period of consistent an authoritative performances, in the league.

Aberdeen will have lots of reasons to wonder where there team might go now, having beaten Celtic twice in a month.  Amid all the newspaper talk in 2012 that Celtic needed their soon to be liquidated opponent, a few of us suggested that what Celtic really need is an opponent, and that Aberdeen, playing to a captive audience in a wealthy city, were the most likely candidates.

Manager, Derek McInnes, knows he does not have the resources to compete over a league programme, but he has proven a few points:  he knows how to beat Celtic and his team are the best of the rest.

If Aberdeen can cope with the vagaries of trips to Easter Road and Victoria Park next season, four games against Celtic will take care of themselves.  Let’s hope Newco Rangers don’t nip in and buy their best players with that non-emergency £1.5m loan.

The immediate challenge for Celtic is to get back into winning form on Saturday.  League Cup finalists, Inverness, will come to make up the numbers.

Would someone please tell me what part of Scottish football does the S.F.A. actually manage and is there any evidence of their management?

Yep, and we were the first winners that needed to play in the first round. An Albanian team withdrew, so we needed to play.

We got dumped out by Dynamo Kiev. The QE2 (Q4) was launched the same day as the home match.

  6. JJ, it makes no difference if you play the ball when you also take the man – it is still a foul. Having now seen GG’s video from You Tube that Ambrose was well positioned to block, I don’t believe it should have been a red card. On the other hand, I don’t believe the so-called handball was a penalty as IMO there was no intent. We did play very well in the 2nd half though.

  14. Good evening all

Spent yesterday with my ole mum who was celebrating her 94th birthday. She really enjoyed her day, with the nursing home putting on an entertainer for her. I think the highlight was, as I took the ole ipad with me, was reading out the best wishes from you guys out there. Her smiles said it all. Good on you guys, gems all of you. Brilliant day. Thanks CQN. :-)))

My sister was telling me about a Horizon programme I must watch on catch up about how human beings reach decisions.

It seems that there is an inbuilt mechanism that diverts us from looking at evidence if that evidence contradicts an already held world view.

Just me being a smartarse as I said. Jungle Jim had actually referred to the GB cycling coach. Indulging in a little whimsy to try and assuage the disappointment of last night.

Thought Thompson played an absolute blinder for the brown brogue brigade but I knew it was going to happen because I think he let VVD off with a pen shout last month. On the plus side at least if he had given pen last month then big FF wouldn’t have broken Clark’s record.

Never a sending off but when That vicious wee Ned Lasley did Matthews we were saying it was a red all day long because he played ball and man. But heh Ho I view the world through green tinted spectacles.

Still proud to be a Tim
