Midtjylland look as ill prepared as Celtic

291

After two preseason games we have Bristol City tomorrow, Preston North End on Saturday before Midtjylland in Champions League qualification one week today.  Midtjylland have played one more game then us since their return to training last month and start their league campaign on Friday evening.

Our only consolation is the Danes look as ill prepared for a fixture of this magnitude as we are.  There are only two group stage places available in the non-champions route of the tournament; you would be forgiven for thinking this possibility was not worth hoping for, but we are in strange times.

By ranking, those two places are earmarked for Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk.  Shakhtar have not played a competitive game since March and Benfica’s only competitive game in that period was a cup final in May (they lost).  The Euros is another complication for preseason regimes.

There is a clear opportunity for a well-prepared team to punch above their weight in these qualifiers.  Ange has a lot of work to do if he’s to take advantage.  We will learn more against Midtjylland.

  7. Go tell the Spartim on

Unfortunately for AP he needs to start winning here and now, at least domestically, so our current transfer policy of either cheap or free youngsters isn’t exactly inspiring or reassuring, considering we’re now negotiating for the less valued RB at Rennes, who was on loan at Dijon who conceded the most goals in Ligue 1, the only conjecture is whether that is our current transfer policy, it certainly seems to be such

I did progress to Embassy Regal though.

I remember once, I think I was about 15, when my uncle Peter, God rest him, caught me smoking.

He thrust a cigarette into my hand and demanded I smoke it.

It was a CAPSTAN FULL STRENGTH.

  9. Does anyone know if Ajer has shown up for preseason ? Has he done a Boyota to force a move ?

  10. I should have read back before posting. Ajer is indeed at preseason camp. Hopefully my fear of a Ralston, Bitton, Welsh and Taylor back line next Tuesday never materialises.

Looking through an old Celtic View 12 april 1967 and back page advert Celtic cigarettes. On the night we face Dukla Prague and a week earlier we beat Clyde 2 nil in the semi final of Scottish cup, Bobby Lennox and Bertie scoring.

  12. This is hopefully rock bottom for Leigh Griffiths. He’s young enough to rebuild his life and I hope he takes the chance presented to him now. So many people less fortunate deserve our thoughts and prayers but please include Leigh and his family in your prayers tonight and going forward.

It’s the Christian thing to do, if you’re that way inclined.

St Jude, pray for him and his family.

why doesnt everyone not comment on social media.

  14. Mmm…. Decisions., decisions .. A 70% Ajer n Edouard or a 100% Welsh n Karamoke?

To land the new manager with this pish is a fekin disgrace.

Going into a game like this, worth millions, without a quality goalkeeper is a disgrace.

To rely on Stevie Woods on this will see big Ange sacked, although if I was being paid 000s per week and not knowing this then, to be honest, hell mend me for not noticing it and acting on it.

We need the new club captain announced in the next few days as well for stability.

  16. Good morning CQN

Top players changing clubs early in the transfer window equates to the top-dollar being paid, Celtic FC is not in that league, Ange did know he wasn’t going to get those players that go straight into the team and be C/L standard, he was promoted by our new CEO as a builder, the man walked into a bomb site from last season results poor, morale on the floor, a multitude of players leaving/want away, not easy to turn around quickly, Ange should get time and space this is his big chance at 55 to achieve in Europe he will be giving it his all, Celtic offered him the job, cutting him some slack should be high on every Celtic fans agenda

The truth is Ten of Scotland’s major newspapers are owned by just three men: Rupert Murdoch, Lord Rothermere, and Frederick Barclay. They are all billionaires who, personally or through their businesses, have used the law to avoid paying tax.
