Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

We do actually have a green and pleasant Country…… The only problem is that the bigots are using the football environment to promote their hatred ……. Look at Rugby, for example…… The Scottish and Irish supporters are not segregated, and ‘enjoy their day’ ….. That’s how it should be and the liquidation of oldco will have, at long last, rid Scotland of, at least, some of the ‘Shameful Ones’…..

  2. Finally got around to watching the Scotland game highlights late last night. The “expert panel” didn’t even mention Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery, concentrating instead on the scorer’s movement.

Scotland were lucky not to be four down in the first half. Can’t remember seeing such woeful passing in the defensive third in a long time. But, as often happens, the goal changed the game and Scotland could have had a second before Wales came back into it. The penalty/ sending off/ equaliser then changed things again.

Mr Strachan has a hard job ahead of him.

When you’re quoting from a source it’s normal practice to use quotation marks and provide a reference.

‘not all Nationalists did or still do share Gibbs views’

No one said that all nats share those views. But a lot did and the culture survives in the SNP.

You will also note that source confirms that Dewar Gibb never changed his views.

I suppose the positive aspect is that it will be ‘used’ by the community and the government will get some of their money back?

  7. How many died in Iraq Ernie? Was that wee Eck or Blair that lied to us causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents?

Always wondered why Gold & Co were so keen to sell-up Birmingham and buy into West Ham – forward thinking/ insider dealing?

I think football and football players are being told the music of £k per week or even hour is about to be switched off.

I see Spanish football is being challenged on the amount of tax that is going unpaid.

The solution is easy, a trans European wage cap. Never mind complicated financial fair play rules, just a straight wage cap across the board with a straight ratio of income based on direct income excluding tv money brought in.

The TV money goes to paying taxes throughout Europe. In a sense its another tax on supporters but one they are already paying as wages to players.

What would be left is still a good living for players and it would reduce agent profits enough to maybe get them to go to another sport.

Once balance is restored the need to continue can be reviewed.

Wee chico was CERTAIN reconstruction wouldn’t take place next season….just wonder who told him what to convince him to that extent…… There is no doubt that sevco will be in the grubber if it goes ahead ……are THEY ‘at it’ again…?

    Haha……

  14. Good morning CQNers. Been busy with work and family stuff for the past three days so missed my daily hit of CQN.

I did watch a bit of the Sevco game on ESPN. It looked as if Stirling Albion were the full-time team with players on £5k a week. I thing it’s part of a cunning plan by Deadco (formerly known as Lance Armstrong FC) and Sevco to prove that LNS was right – paying players huge amounts of money more than your rivals does not give a competitive advantage. Either that or Sally is a duff manager and should be given an 8 year contract.

Missing the Hoops so have decided to drive up to Glasgow, drop off my wife and daughter in the City Centre to increase my unsecured credit card debt while I head off to CP to see our stars of the future play Killie.

Agree with your wage-cap analysis – however other financial sources will continue to feed the <bTV Beast!

2 examples for you to ponder:

From next season – more than half the teams in the Championship will be operating on parachute payments received from dropping down from the EPL.

Trackside advertising (electronic boards) – Championship teams (or others) can install them @ circa £120K. EPL teams get them for nothing + a minimum £700K guaranteed advertising revenue.

Advertising links via; apps/ wifi will continue to push billions into sports – particularly football where there are massive viewing figures and an ever growing Far East market.

Know you’re a man for the ‘old’ research – found this site:

http://www.football-observatory.com/ – am sure there will be a few things there that will interest you. :-)

    ‘Did sevco lose yesterday?’

They were denied a stonewall penalty in the closing minutes.

I’m sure the MSM will highlight the incident.

Dewar Gibb switched to separatism precisely because he thought it would be a more effective vehicle for him to pursue his agenda, not because he had changed his spots.

Did you speak to Dewar Gibb to confirm this? You see – here’s your problem…You’re making a logic error. Your point isn’t a lot different to those who end a statement with “FACT”. It’s a non sequitur. You *imagine* that’s why he switched and you then base your argument around that being fact when it’s just a theory bouncing around in your head.

You wouldn’t get into a school 2nd year debating society with that level of argument.

And if you are looking to explain the alacrity with which the SNP seized the opportunity to introduce legislation to ‘even up the score’ I suggest that this might be a good starting point.

Once again, only if I accept as fact your groundless and ridiculour assertion.

I suppose Billy Wolfe only married a Catholic to lull papists into a false sense of security? You’re coming across like a green Mason Boyne, Ernie.

Who wrote that, Dewar Gibb or Christine Graham?

Why bring Christine Grahame’s name into it? Apart from to try and give sentence written 83 years ago some modern context? Which it doesn’t have. It didn’t even have current context by 1936!

You failed to answer my question also. About Mike Russell – Are Labour the party of arsonists? Is the Catholic Church actually pro-nazi given Pope Benedict’s past? Or should the Catholic Church to be condemned in it’s entirety for Pope Benedict’s covering serial child abusers?

Or how about the Labour Party – you’re quoting a sentence from 83 years ago. How about Blair telling Bush he’d “support him, whatever his decision on Iraq”. This war has cost 122,306 *civillians* their lives so far!

Don’t preach about something someone said 83 years ago when the Unionist parties were all four square behind this still current massacre! And whilst the Labour government were in power. Lies about yellow cake, lies about weapons of mass destruction, lies, lies lies. In truth the war was about Halliburton, and about crude oil.

You’ll forgive me, if in this context I’m a little more relaxed about something that cost no one their lives, their livlihood, or even, probably sleep.

  22. Celtic receiving £350k for the game against Liverpool in Dublin on Aug 10th

Even if reconstruction doesn’t go ahead, SevCo are still going to be running out of cash by the end of 2013.

  23. Ernie Lynch…

Who wrote this describing the “typical” Irish immigrant as having?: “a big shovel, a strong back and a weak brain”

Keir Hardie or Harriet Harman? SNP the anti-Irish party? You’re having a laugh.

That’s the down side to skeltons Ernie – everyones got one.

  24. Ernie Lynch…

Who wrote (and got it badly wrong) : “The SNP have never had a Catholic in the cabinet or Shadow cabinet”?

You or Roseanna Cunningham (one of the Catholics in question)?

    :D

  25. So as it goes, more tales of woes,

    Nobody really knows, I suppose.

When the shout went out, there is no doubt,

    Bomber Brown knew all about,

The Deeds, The Deeds, the deed is done,

All hushed up except for the Masonic One.

Now Bomber is appeased with an appointment in Dundee,

Feck me, not even me, could see, just how corrupt

    Scottish football could be.

When will this all end and be exposed,

    Never, as everyone knows,

As theres too many involved and in on the lies,

And not just the Huns we so despise.
