Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

Would you like to suggest an explanation for the SNP introducing legislation to ‘even up the score?

I would attribute it to a latent anti Irish Catholic racism that’s been evident in the party since it was founded.

  4. If you had a son playing in the SPL,and likely to be playing in Europe next season, would you advise him to go to Sevco next season.Cannot to be true, could it?It definately would be like a new signing.

  5. Missing the football but at least the Sevco comedy show is providing some entertainment.

I heard wee Chic yesterday trying to find some positivity for his wee team. Youth coach Tommy McIntyre moving on was all he could find…”Things are happening in the background…” says the bold Chico. I’ll bet they are. Happy Days.

Would you like to suggest an explanation for the SNP introducing legislation to ‘even up the score?

Again Ernie, you try and direct (or misdirect) the debate. There was no legislation introduced to “even up the score”. Bad legislation was introduced. Rushed and ill thought through. The architect of that legislation was Catholic. Explain that away.

Do you have any evidence, and I mean empirical evidence to support your claim? Apparently not, seeing as you keep avoiding questions. And keep failing to provide any sources and references. And a quote from one Tim Pat Coogan book isn’t going to wash.

I would attribute it to a latent anti Irish Catholic racism that’s been evident in the party since it was founded.

Once again your opinion, and only your jaundiced opinion.

Now, you keep avoiding questions. You keep trying (very badly) to take control of the debate. Answer *my* questions.

Specifically – on Keir Hardie, Mike Russell, the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict, and your LIE about there never being a Catholic “in the cabinet or shadow cabinet”.

Thanks for the link. What you say only adds to my underlying point, that football is a rich tax seam to be mined by Governments.

A user friendly way of gathering back the money that has gone to enriching a very few at the expense of the many.

Even with a tax on TV revenue at source (say 50% goes to European exchequers) there is more than enough left from the other sources you have identified to pay a more than decent wage to players, and if it is an across the board Euro tax then wee Tevez can scuttle off back to South America if he does not like it.

It would be like the Cyprus attempt to use depositors money to save their economy except football would I believe get little sympathy.(and if it gets right up pundits like Adrian Durham or Keys and Gray’s noses that would be a bonus)

Governments have been very reluctant to get involved in curbing the excesses of football, but now that the rubber is hitting the man in the streets road, making such a move would not be as unpopular as it might have been in the past.

If I get enough Thumbs Up for a tax on football TV revenue I’ll stand against Alex Salmond, if Philvus gives me the thumbs down I’ll stand against David Cameron. :)

  15. A wee question. Has any Labour, Tory or Lib Dem written it in stone, that on assuming power at the next Holyrood election, they will immediately repeal the offending legislation?

Premier League stars at risk of ruin with £1bn tied up in ‘tax relief’ schemes By Nick Harris

    PUBLISHED: 22:30, 23 March 2013 | UPDATED: 22:40, 23 March 2013

Premier League footballers have invested an estimated £1billion over the past decade in ‘highly complex’ financial schemes that have left many bankrupt or with severe money headaches, according to a consultant who tries to recover fortunes lost as a result of mis-selling.

Some of the most significant schemes are centred in the film industry and have been operated as legal tax avoidance tools.

Big-name current and former footballers, including David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane, Emile Heskey, Frank Lampard, Robbie Savage, Jamie Carragher and Darius Vassell, are known to have invested in them, although there is no suggestion that any of these players have suffered problems.

Ernie – Debate 101. It’s two sided. People aren’t just here to answer your “questions”.

It’s just a coincidence that Christine Graham said that’s what it would do, and that’s what it’s done.

And you said the SNP had never had a “Catholic in the cabinet or shadow cabinet”.

Once again, you make a statement, with *nothing* to back it up. No links, no sources. You’re making that up too.

Their songs were illegal, ours weren’t, now they are.

Who has been arrested for singing? Where has there been a successful prosecution for singing a song… wait, there hasn’t been! The bill is a peice of nonsense, but it’s a piece of nonsense that infringes on EVERYONES civil liberties.

And you still haven’t answered a single question of mine. You’re not very good at this game are you? Hoping if you repeat something often enough it’ll be true? You’d be better off on Follow Follow, finishing your every dictat with “FACT”.

  26. ernie hate the snp if you want hate all parties if that makes you feel better, but i really do wish you would accept that voting for independence is not voting for the snp.

pretty much all the left wing of politics in this country support independence. What are you so scared of ….do you honestly think scotland in the present has the same level of sectarianism that it held in the 50s for example things have moved on, and whilst i agree there is still a long road to travel we are at least moving in the right direction.

  27. p8ddy—We had a short discussion on Scotland.I’m all for an independant Scotland, but as it stands that country as envisaged from an SNP point of view would not be much different than now—just a change of masters. I’ve suggested this before–Alba Fein. I’m not good enough at Gaelic to know if that means “Scotland Alone” but that would be the intention.

How you sort out the Masonic influence, the legals, the cops etc is a massive undertaking. An independant Scotland, a proper Republic, could provide mechanisms for this, because you would be drawing up a new constitution et al, with a proper Bill of Rights with its attendant safeguards.

As regards the SNP–“By their deeds shall ye know them”.

  28. Not really wanting get involved but..

Servconians banner yesterday against independence made me think,

What concessions are they going to demand to secure their support?
