Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

“The policy will not be changed Salmond knows he cannot do it.”

You will have to explain why he has the confidence to go against 52% of his part membership views (NATO withdrawal policy) but not 64% of his membership views by proposing legislation to ensure the future of RC schools rather than waiting for bigotry to wither or strengthen before deciding which way to jump.

There,s also a thread that claims sandaza it taking tfg to court.

I’d pay good money to get a seat in court on that day, especially if Tommy defends himself ;-)

Thanks for the response, the survey is not new, I cannot help that. I also cannot help the way the mind works of the average golf club/bowling club member I have had the misfortune to know over the last 25-30 years. Believe me they equate more readily with the “no surrender” mob than the SNP, in my opinion.

The second half of your response validates my point that there are many people who see Catholic schools as an issue. I normally ask them to look at the number of catholic schools in Greater Manchester and see how that influences the sectarian picture down there.

The main thrust of my point is that Scotland has made great progress and the opinions of the past are just that, past.

  4. Nationalists on here AGAIN…………..Geez peace with yer rank politics, go somewhere you’ll get a hearing.

Scotland has historically had 25-30% who want separation, that hasn’t changed and will probably get less as folk truly begin to understand the likes of Salmond, Murray, Masterton, Graham, McKaskill and their ilk.

Now go away and talk politics somewhere else PLEASE!!!!!!!

    Shouldn’t happen.

The team that finish 2nd in this seasons,2nd division should take D.A.F.C.’S place.

  6. Or indeed the team that would be relegated from the 1st division would stay up.

to your second point , I do not have to explain anything for Salmond , he has a big enough share of voice to say as he pleases. My opinion is that he knows what gets him votes, to go with the “close down Catholic schools ” policy is a vote loser for the majority of the Catholic electorate. I cannot see NATO membership/ non membership polarising the same numbers.

Like any politician he knows where the vote lies.

    With apologies to Bawsman

“the survey is not new, I cannot help that.”

You can acknowledge that it is only a little over a year old and that the views expressed will have evolved not a lot over that period. I was not limiting that viewpoint to SNP membership but it is quite prevalent there too and needs to be addressed by all party members and leaders, including Alex Salmond.

Anyway I am back to reading the tweets on the U-20 game at CP. Second half is underway.

    You’ve forgotten already!

Dunfermline will still exist ( somewhere) with their glorious 128 year old history.

It’s the COMPANY that owns the club that’s being liquidated.

There everyone knows that’s just plain stupid but I think I’ve learned my lines.

    Agreed?

The DAFC case will really point out how absurd the MSMs treatment of the Huns has been but I agree, they’ve got themselves into a bit of a jam here.

Cheers , I agree that football is more important. We agree to disagree on some points but I do agree that the “thae schools is the problem” undercurrent is still there. It will take time to get rid of it and maybe we never will, which is a great shame.

  14. Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 2m 54 Good spell of possession from the home side but Twardzik’s deep cross evades everyone in the box.

  15. Following on the deprecatory description of The Ross County manager, we are treated to “The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross.”

    Let’s be clear.

    The youngest lad.

    Name : Grant Hanley.

From what I saw, and I’ve checked on the SKY highlights package, he won a game of Kabaddi against the experienced Sam Ricketts in order to put himself on the end of said cross. An achievement in itself.

He’ll now be a marked man. Unusual for for a defender.

Our bhoys in Turin could’ve taken a leaf out of his book.

    Ah that explains it!

Those comments are not mine, though I had used the “inviting the card shark back to the table” analogy before.

The brilliance, in this case, belongs to Garynamonie, a contributor to the Scotsman comments column. All the plaudits are for him.

  18. Palacio67

you have my sympathy….I did also say it has not gone away totally, We`ve all seen it in effect across all industries, I was the first “one of them” in my area ,as my father was in his before me.

  19. 57 Head tennis in the Killie box from a Celtic corner. Eventually Atajic works some space for a shot but it’s blocked.

58 Twardzik then cuts inside from the left and drives towards goal but a Killie defender blocks his effort.

Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 1m 59 At the other end, Muirhead drags a shot narrowly wide. Still 0-0 in Paradise.

  20. P8ddy.

after a number of years posting i feel i have arrived now having had a comment bolded by yourself earlier ;-)) my point wasnt that i cared about politicians religion, more that

Ernie sees it as a way of proving anti catholic bias in the SNP,to me it seems a fair point

  21. Dead and Loving it on

Just wondering if the father of David Healy will be organizing the bucket collection when the Glasgow huns play the Belfast huns

Heard the the last time he collected for the huns on the way out of the park his trousers fell to his ankles with the weight

  22. 65 George sprints down the right and his low cross is heading for Twardzik until a Kilmarnock defender makes a vital interception.

66 Muirhead dispossess Fisher and tries to chip Fasan but his effort drifts wide.

  23. Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 51s 70 Another change for the young Hoops – Atajic is replaced by Paul McMullan

  24. 73 Fisher collects a return pass, drives into the box and his low effort is turned behind by Mackay for a corner.

  25. Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 12s 76 GOAL!!! Twardzik scores from the spot for the young Hoops, who now lead 1-0
