Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer

898

The SFA are entitled to ask Neil Lennon to explain his conduct at Ibrox on Sunday but I doubt he has a case to answer.  Neil accepted a warning during the first half from fourth official, Iain Brines, for contesting the decision to send off Cha Du-Ri, Brines did not regard this protest as sufficient to call the over referee.  Neil then spoke to referee Calum Murray at the end of the first half without incident or caution.

Murray clearly did not regard Lennon’s comments as worthy of dismissal from the technical area at that time and was did not call Neil to the referees’ room during the interval.  It was left to fourth official Iain Brines to deliver the news to the Celtic manager that he was ordered from the technical area.

Murray and Brines appear to have let the occasion get the better of them.  A referee must be clear in his mind before ordering a manager from the technical area and must take the correct steps necessary in doing so.  He cannot mutter a statement of intent to caution a manager without actually doing so.

Voice of reason. Paul 67 has a point of view or an opinion if you like now no doubt you have an opinion and I have an opinion. Now thats 3 opinions and there are likely to be differences in each one and I would defend Pauls 67s right and your right and also mine to voice our opinions that is what makes football such a great game.I think if you have a different opinion to Paul you should share your opinion with us and not rubbish his opinion a blog is for discussion after all.H.H.

I`m not convinced though that decision makers have all the facts and decided how to proceed and that my presumption is entirely based on past performance history based on multiple flawed culture and practices. [I might post on that later]

    Well here goes:

HMRC want payment in full and no deferred terms to avoid a winding up petition. HMRC have an interest in cleaning up all UK football to generate revenue [that`s its job would believe]. It`s challenged the football creditors rules that protect players’ salaries in England but not in Scotland.

RFC potential HMRC liabilities could DWARF the COMBINED tax due totals of nearly

£40 covering no less than 23 English Clubs over 10 YEARS – Exhibit:

    http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/03/25/revealed-the-39-6m-in-unpaid-football-taxes-and-thats-only-part-of-it-250301/

Be in no doubt of the magnitude of RFC predicament and its importance to HMRC.

HMRC are also charged to clean up the EBT abuse in the UK supported by the 2011 Finance Bill.

Historically HMRC has been disposed to occasionally help football for social and community reasons and the numbers were small. The assumption this will continue to support highly paid footballer`s in what a UK Billion pound industry is a mistake.

I don`t buy this simple notion and assumption that RFC will fold one company – and be simply allowed without consequences – to start another wiping out this scale of debt. HMRC are not precluded from issuing a Winding Up Petition any time in the future for any club that is late on PAYE / VAT – if they want to or be motivated to do so.

Not convinced RFC at the moment are dwelling on these risks.

Am convinced there are people who would want the club. Not convinced the funding will materialise. Not convinced D+P can generate a buyable proposal in 8 weeks when SDM needed 4 years – and it was then in a healthier state.

Not convinced by the SFA – Not a great deal is going to come from reviewing events and issuing statements evidencing and judging what HAS happened. As a kid I used to take tremendous pride looking at 6 Park Gardens SFA Historic HQ – A bastion of forward guidance and standards of probity.

Not convinced by the SPL. The SPL has difficulty negotiating the best TV rights [Bread and Butter] as RFC and CFC rightly criticised at the time. This has not helped debt or season ticket prices. Sort of like selling your season ticket books 3 years in advance for half price – is that where CW got the idea?

But there`s no need to worry about any SPL rule changes to accommodate RFC 2012 in the Summer – so that bits fine:

“Rule A2.7; the Board may, in its absolute discretion, waive, relax or grant a period of grace in respect of any Club or Candidate Club’s requirement to comply with any part of the Membership Criteria and/or the time limit for applications for approval, waiver, relaxation or period of grace etc. and/or for Registration of a ground with the League.”

Having a Catch-22 SPL Rule A2.7 indicates a lack of complete confidence in the membership. Other SPL club[s] are on thin ice. With Rule A2.7 this could get chaotic – and contagious.

All of this and more represents poor decision making. Paying Fans should be calling for heads to roll. Not CWs head – that`s rolled – but all the other heads that caused this appalling mess with atrocious expensive oversight from monetary concentrations.

The press are giving these “it wisnae me – honest” types and apologists currying favour exposure – so we can forget them.

How expensive is a good set of rules standards with a wee bit of intelligence and foresight?

    How hard can it be?

  4. the glorious balance sheet on

I think the SPL should do the decent thing and present us with the trophy at our first home game after the split – against the Orcs.

Assuming of course that the Orcs haven`t gone out of business by then.

  5. More shady buisiness dealings from the Ibroke shysters- this time weedling their way into seeing confidential St Mirren documents. Are there no depths they wont plumb in their Arthur Daley like antics?

he (Aluko) is a clever player and no mistake. Mind you, I really do hope we make 2 big solid defenders an absolute priority in June/July. I don’t want to see a no mark coward like McClugger bullying our back line again. If big Mjallby or Joos had even stared at him in the tunnel he’d have needed a change of shorts before kick off. I wouldn’t like to go into European qualifiers with the current bhoys. If we have money to spend, let’s start at the back!

OK bhoys the votes have been counted and verified by my independent adjudicator, the lovely Nicola (MWD’s neice).

Thank you all for taking part in what after all was only intended as a bit of fun :-)

I’ve made each tally as a percentage of the total number of votes cast as opposed to the number of people who voted.

    The results are as follows:-

    Stokes 1.9%

    Mulgrew 23.6%

    Foster 18.1%

    Rogne 0.9%

    Wanyama 4.2%

    Kayal 0.5%

    Ledley 12.9%

    Brown 16.2%

    Forrest 2.7%

    Samaras 18.5%

So in first place with 23.6% of the vote is Charlie Mulgrew and in second place with 18.5% is our own Greek God, Super Sammi.

It will be an interesting one when the SFA try and put der Hun under pressure regarding the mess over at the bigot dome, especially when the SFA did not even do the due diligence on Whyte. Expect a wee slap on the wrist for them.
