Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer

898

The SFA are entitled to ask Neil Lennon to explain his conduct at Ibrox on Sunday but I doubt he has a case to answer.  Neil accepted a warning during the first half from fourth official, Iain Brines, for contesting the decision to send off Cha Du-Ri, Brines did not regard this protest as sufficient to call the over referee.  Neil then spoke to referee Calum Murray at the end of the first half without incident or caution.

Murray clearly did not regard Lennon’s comments as worthy of dismissal from the technical area at that time and was did not call Neil to the referees’ room during the interval.  It was left to fourth official Iain Brines to deliver the news to the Celtic manager that he was ordered from the technical area.

Murray and Brines appear to have let the occasion get the better of them.  A referee must be clear in his mind before ordering a manager from the technical area and must take the correct steps necessary in doing so.  He cannot mutter a statement of intent to caution a manager without actually doing so.

Strong rumours amongst legal and accounting circles in the capital that the First Tier Tribunal (big tax case) verdict due on Thursday.

  2. O G Rafferty,

I DO so hope you are not winding us up, especially if Greig, their greatest ever player (God help us: says everything you need to know about them) is involved.

It sounds like with the FTT due anytime, some of the info it had but could not come out until the decision was documented is a bit more available.

Will it undermine the “we didnae know it was illegal defense” or does it just show how many didnae know?

No need to answer I can wait :)

    Mort @14.04,

Everytime I see, hear, read of him involved in a Celtic game I cringe. It’s all leading back to the occasions I referred to earlier.

  6. First and foremost there is official, officious and media bias against Celtic.

I am sure people will disagree with this but I feel that since Neil got it wrong over the Stokes penalty claim against Kilmarnock that we are getting distracted from our fine performances over the season. When Stokes was through, rather than shoot, which he could have done, he waited for the challenge from behind. Ok WE know that Rangers would have got the penalty there and most teams playing against us too in the SPL . And not only do we not get the penalty but Stokes gets booked!! However I just think we shouldn´t be looking for a penalty in the last minute of a match to draw against Kilmarnock.

On the eve of the visit to Rangers, Neil was supposedly still angry about not getting a penalty, against Kilmarnock!! Neil is brave without a doubt, facing up to the referee on the turf at the bigotdome, but may I suggest he needs to box a bit clever. We have had enough talk of referees and I am their biggest critic but we have to rise above their level, the only thing they can never argue with, well almost, is the ball in the back of the net. Diving should not be part of the Celtic way even though the game is riddled with it and if we want to get modern then we supposedly have to do it as well. Among players they like to be the cutest and the cleverest getting penalties and Celtic have had penalties on occasion for exaggerating a fall. BUT IT IS NOT PART OF OUR DNA AND NEVER SHOULD BE

St Johnstone at a packed Celtic Park will bring back memories of Larsson and Brattbakk. The best scenario to recover momentum onto the Scottish cup semis.

It’s been known about for a while. I’d guess the same as you as though I know some effort was made in London to move it on.

Will it undermine the “we didnae know it was illegal defence”?

If you or I had written it we couldn’t have done a better job. It’s spectacular

  8. Craig Whyte is playing a blinder.

He got rid of EBTs and all those involved. He has now managed to keep them going till the Tax decision.

Now the focus will fall back on Minty Murray. Would not be surprised if CW is one of those feeding Alex Thomson.

He will soon be the only player left standing.

  9. If the team had turned up on Sunday we wouldn’t be having all this ‘Neil is Innocent’ opera.

He was upset. He lost it a wee bit. He got a telling-off. Probably a good thing he was sent off because, if he’d been in that dugout when Vic got his jotters, Lenny could’ve caused mayhem. You can see it now, if yer honest …….like me….Honest Tim.

Neil should take his medicine and move on. Rantin’ and ravin’ don’t get ye loved.

Off now to put on me tin hat ‘cos we knows that lots of yous bhoys won’t have a bad word said against Oor Neillie. Am I right or am I right ?

Is that what we look for in a successful Celtic manager?

Without Rantin’ and Ravin’ he still wouldn’t be loved.

  12. Lads am I getting this right, St.Mirren director asked to resign because of secret meetings with Rangers.

So they try to use St.Mirren so they could stay in SPL and not lose their history.

  13. the glorious balance sheet on

An “honest tim” / or more correctly “A dishonest moonbeam chaser”

You said:- “Rantin` and ravin` don`t get you loved.” You should speak to your favourite Cardigan Wearing, moonbeam currency wasting legned, the Great Walturd about that.

I distinctly recall Walturd threatening to shove a microphone up Chick Young`s backside during an interview , trying to square up to Mixu Paatelainen on the touchline (assaulting the 4th official in the process) and ranting and raving because a linesman who chopped off a Rangers goal was called Mr Murphy.

All this ranting and raving did not stop Walturd from being loved by the Laptop Loyal.

I suggest that you take yourself off to the Big Hoose to check that its still open and that the bailiffs haven`t sold off your wee brick yet.

“Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer”

Just like his analysis of the game…….more drivel from Paul67.

However if it’s fodder you want …slurp it up.

  15. I think my first ever game, at least the one I remember, was against St Johnstone at Celtic Park. Probably around ’69. My Dad took me to the Rangers end and I was perched on the wall that ran along the walkway behind the terracing. I could see about a third of the pitch over the heads of the packed crowd. The game (I think) finished 2-2 and I enjoyed every second of it.

I see we have appealed Cha’s sending off. Probably the right reaction but we are unlikely to succeed. I still think Wanyama’s sending off was also very harsh. Most ref’s would have given him a booking. It looks worse in slow motion, but if you watch real time, Vic’s studs hardly leave the ground and it is not a dangerous tackle. Let’s not get started on the rangers’ players attempt to seriously hurt Vic.

Can’t believe some of the critism being aimed at the Bhoys. They have been amazing for the last 4 months. POTY? Close call between Ledley and Charlie, closely followed by Broonie and Fraser. Rogne is destined for greatness.

  16. He was upset. He lost it a wee bit. He got a telling-off. Probably a good thing he was sent off because, if he’d been in that dugout when Vic got his jotters, Lenny could’ve caused mayhem. You can see it now, if yer honest …….like me….Honest Tim.

That is one of the most offensive post I have seen in here from a Celtic fan.

Neil Lennon could not go into the stand at Ipox and continue his job for safety reasons.

The 5live commentators sniggered at this. You also seem to blame Neil Lennon for this to be acceptable in a football ground.

Neil Lennon is guilty of being Northern Irish Catholic and manager of our (certainly my) club.

He lived and played in England for years and was never a hate figure. You wotrk it out.

They can’t defeat us.It doesn’t stop them from trying though, but no matter what these coniving scoundrels attempt,it never works…all the cheating and scheming is all done in vain.

The mighty Celtic of Glasgow, and our magnificent support, just keeps coming back at them…stronger and more defiant than ever, unbowed & unbroken,as always.

Winners are winning. That’s just what we do.The high kings of Scottish football, looking down on the pathetic hunnary from the summit, despite their dirty, underhand attempts at undermining our beautiful football club.
