The point was made to me after the game that it would have been better for Mick Beale to lose this game in an unequivocal manner. Instead, the result is the epitome of equivocation. The truism that goals change games was never truer than at Ibrox yesterday. Alfredo Morelos collected the ball inside his own half on the 5th minute, before playing a square ball into a space marshalled by Daizen Maeda. What Morelos didn’t realise, was that the entire pitch was pretty much Marshalled by Maeda ©.
Daizen’s interception made its way to James Tavernier, often a troubling sign for the home support. You may remember him from such films as ‘Costly Short Pass at Parkhead’. Tavernier’s pass to Goldson never came close to its intended destination before Daizen took control, dropped the shoulder to glide past the last defender before charging towards McGregor in goal. The keeper fell on the ball to no avail, Celtic were ahead.
The visitors then took control, passing around statuesque players in blue. Kyogo should have doubled the advantage but missed the ball, his time would come later.
Joe Hart did his best to make a contest of the half when a clearance hit the most significant frame in Govan since the great liners were built there. The ball was ushered back to Kent, who would have levelled but the keeper made amends by turning the ball onto the post. This moment revived Newco, who were never again out of the reckoning.
Celtic, usually so secure from corner kicks, conceded two chances to the head of Morelos, but “fitboy” (I think that’s what Greg Taylor called him) missed the target on both occasions.
With Taylor off injured, Josip Juranovic made his first start after injury, at left back. It did not work. Jura was disoriented, allowing Sakala to break forward. He fed Kent on the opposite flank. You and I knew he would turn inside and shoot, but Alistair Johnston, making a very impressive debut, could do little. Kent made smart work of the chance and it was game-on.
Moments later Sakala was going nowhere, but still inside the box, when Carl Starfelt lunged – there is no better word – in the direction of ball and player. Too soon, the ball was elsewhere, Starfelt provided a platform for Sakala’s right foot, it was a penalty. Tavernier lifted the kick into the roof of the net.
Celtic were on the ropes. Confidence was shot and the passing which was so fluid in the first period was never on point. Reinforcements helped little until the 88th minute. Then it happened, Kyogo!
For a squad ravaged by illness, which clearly affected the manager in a manner all too familiar, this was an excellent return.
Celtic should have had a penalty. Sarfelt’s shot was turned away from goal by a two handed save from Goldson. I didn’t see it and there were no appeals from Celtic players, so referee John Beaton gets a pass. VAR should have picked the oversight up but either it didn’t, or Beaton declined the opportunity to check. SFA, we have a problem and it is not getting any better. The handball rule in Celtic games has been an unexplained shambles this season. Explain, please or make way for administrators who do not choose when to speak publicly only when they perceive Celtic were advantaged.

before VAR i didnt know that a player could be offside even if the ball didnt get played forward.
spurs got a goal chopped off a few weeks ago when the ball got played sideways to kane but because his foot was ahead of the defender he was offside even
that decision would never have been give pre VAR. in fact i think VAR has invented that rule because it would never have been a thing before
i dont think any real football person wants to see pish like that
the VAR offside rules are a joke (think brighton disallowed goal against arsenal the other night) as are the VAR hand ball rules (think numerous decisions in our games this season) and as are the rules about giving fouls/penalties in the box for the slightest touch
if this is still happening in a years time then it must be time to ditch it
the only benefit of it up here is to further highlight the cheats who officiate our game, but they dont give a fk and continue to cheat with impunity so whats the point?
I do not pay over £600 per year and £250 per trip from Ireland to watch Celtic being cheated at every given opportunity.
I expect something to be said about this publicly by the people who’s wages I and several thousand others pay.
I also expect something to be done about it.
It’s high time that UEFA were involved, it’s not as though that we are short on evidence.

POLICE have launched a probe after Celtic star Greg Taylor and one of the Hoops’ physios were targeted by a ‘metal object’ thrown from the home end while he was receiving treatment.
The incident, which was reported by the Hoops staff to the match officials, was one of a number of incidents involving missile throwing during yesterday’s Oxxxxx clash which cops are looking into.

Well, we can prove that, despite Rangers mark 1 cheating for over a decade, claiming 5 titles in that period, the football authorities failed to apply the rules of the game to strip those titles, which should have been then reallocated to Celtic.
So, you’re right, when you can’t prove that failure to spot a deliberate handball is intentional cheating, or that the referee turned a blind eye to various yellow card offences while seeing others, in order to disadvantage Celtic, and with the SFA knowing how Celtic reacted to being cheated out of 5 titles, then it would be a waste of time challenging them on VAR or anything else, as they wouldn’t take us seriously.

Superbru update Round 20
The first round of 2023 saw a few shock results with a plucky 10 year old club hanging on for a draw with the mighty Celts. Such shock results saw a low scoring week and a 4 way tie for top spot. Four Yellow Caps were awarded to Greenpinata, OneMalloy, Gutenberg and Gene, all on 7 points. At the bottom this week we had 13 on “Null Points” but the computer has arbitrarily awarded the wooden spoon to Garry Postecoglou, as entered by oor very ain BRRB, who made the mistake of forecasting whilst sober this week.
In the overall leaderboard- the top3 retain their positions with
1- ATOB- 119.5
2- Leggy- 114.5
3- Ayrshire Tim- 108.5
but Greenpinata has narrowed the gap to 3rd to 1.5 points. Our top 8 have now got 100 points or more each. In the overall wooden spoon race, Pro Cierto is holding off stiff competition.
Our next deadline is Saturday at 3pm when Celtic get the chance to go 12 points clear of the also rans. We will be announcing the competition 2nd half prize money soon.
