Then, I wrote, “If [The Sun) had even given us something like, ‘A fan, originally from Paisley, who made his money in the Far East’ I would have thought their information was possibly on a par with mine.”
A month ago, Newco were the only club in Scotland facing a financial crisis, today, almost all are, but Newco’s situation is acute. No Paisley-born-boy-did-good is going to change that. Noticed you mention Frank Haffey. Frank was an ever present in the Haffey; McKay and Kennedy; Crerand, McNeil and Peacock/Price defence. His performances were bizarre – saves better than Banks at his best followed by really grotesque blunders.

All linked to a recent campaign to recognise RFC’s war effort and record. Well record anyway. Now I must admit I do not know a whole lot about wartime football but I have read that many soldiers played for different teams at different times depending on where they were based, but maybe RFC were different, had a settled team. Settled in Glasgow that is.
*Between 1939 and 1946 normal competitive football was suspended in Scotland. Many footballers signed up to fight in the war and as a result many teams were depleted, and fielded guest players instead.
The League and Cup were suspended and in their place regional league competitions were set up. Appearances in these tournaments do not count in players’ official records.
League competition was played in the Southern League. Since no country-wide cup competition took place, although the Glasgow Cup and Renfrewshire Cup continued, and a Southern League Cup was also competed for, a competition which formed the basis for the League Cup.
deidco allegedly marched their players to the local shipyard to work the war effort, hence the title “shipyard loyal” the one notable player they missed out was willie thornton and by God they like to crow about that as he won the Military Medal.
thornton joined them in 1936, however prior to the hostilities beginning he only played 65 games in all tournaments, League, SC, and both Glasgow Cups. His career took off after the war and although considered to be one of the greatest players in their history he only won 8 caps.
In 1939 deidco had a centre called jimmy smith, a big bruising player, who played all during the war for them only being freed in 1946 at the age of 35, he had a 96% scoring record hence the requirement not to retain thornton, also tae possibly save money.
They had no reason to play guest players although they did have the legendary stanley matthews for a few games while he was stationed up north with the RAF.
Meanwhile we had 22 players who enlisted tae fight for king and country; we refused tae play guest players and actually lost the services of Matt Busby who was desperate to play for us ending up at Easter Road.

I remember back in 2008/9 supporting the Brown/Darling strategy, I personally could not fathom another option that did not end up with banks calling in all their debt and putting millions on the street in terms of work and home.
Since then the financial sector has been bailed out to the tune of trillions forgiven for crimes that defrauded to the tune of trillions.
Only recently I have started to hear about a radical option that never got to see the light of day before as analysts begin to understand the mess the bailout strategy has produced.
The strategy if implemented will make all the correction necessary and remove the fraudulent player in a single move however as in all strategic decisions there will be collateral damage and that is savings.
The strategy is instead of forgiving the financial debt accrued through the continued malfeasance, the govt declares all debtors and debts are null and void up to a limit of say £1M.
This should ensure that the debt forgiveness is getting to the correct people.

The Israeli treatment in the context of her w they could possibly have a vaccine ready for distribution so quickly, with the overtone unless they helped develop the virus.
The HIV was linked to a dissertation published and immediately shut down by powerful forces, the dissertation found HIV spliced into the virus and concluded this to occur naturally is highly unlikely, it is the HIV component receptors that allows the virus to jump species from we are officially told “bat” to human. Now I remember we were informed that HIV transferred from apes to humans with all sorts of imagination driven story’s as to how this was achieved. Now we should believe it transferred from human to bat, which then had a bit of hanky lanky with the Flu/SARS virus and the corona is the offspring. Obviously SARS was looking for an upgrade on its receptor. Now we have POTUS saying America had nothing to do with it. Follow the money, who are the US main rivals currently ?

Good morning CQN from a dry and clammy Garngad
As me and Mrs David66 both work to 4.30pm and cannot get what we need at the shops at night or the weekend, I thought I would do my Hunter gatherer thingy and be up at Tesco at 6.15 after a 6am opening. They had not stocked the shelfs. So came home with a loaf, deodorant, razor blades and 2 small tins of beans. No pasta, rice, spaghetti or loo roll.
I have told Mrs David 66 not to throw out my old newspapers from the 80’s (the last time I bought a paper) as we will need them as …. Well you know.
The elderly will be even worse, but at least they are giving the elderly a time slot.
I will not starve any time soon due to being rather rotund.
But the hunt for the elusive bog roll goes on.
By the way Tesco was mobbed, did look like a lot of workers getting stuff before going to work though.

The guys who got destroyed for suggesting there was an HIV component had their work ridiculed to try and force silence.
You might find trials starting in two weeks encouraging but considering the trial period will take anything up to two years and longer before it’s ready for distribution as a vaccine, if it’s successful, a big if. Is a very simplistic and thoughtless outlook. A tiny bit of research or even a cursory look at the stuff that was posted on here last week might have enlightened you on the true nature of the problem.

I was at the cup semi against St Mirren. Some Celtic fans invaded the pitch to try and get the match abandoned. The ref took the players in, the pitch was cleared, and the game was resumed within a ring of police.
Chairman Kelly was supposed to have forfeited the match during the invasion

I’m a little confused by your reply.
I’m very surprised you’ve classed the drugs mentioned as a potential ‘vaccine’ rather than what it is described as ‘cure’. Two different things. The fact that the drugs (HIV one) and (Anti-malaria one) have both previously been approved and been used in Australia was the basis of my optimism that the process could be fast tracked quicker than the new drugs. The two year waiting period for a viable vaccine that you mentioned may be accurate but that’s not what the article was about.
