Nir Biton, preparations for the ArenA

1993

There will have been tired limbs at Lennonxtown when the players resumed full training yesterday after their exertions on Tuesday night but they will still be desperate to take to the field at Firhill on Sunday.  This game is a necessary preparation ahead of the Amsterdam AreanA in 12 days.

We have an advantage for Amsterdam…..

Ajax are nip and tuck with a handful of clubs near the top of the Dutch league.  They have three home games in the league and cup before facing Celtic and the pressure is on to win each of them.  Ajax don’t have the ability to allow players extended recuperation time to ensure they are in pristine condition for Champions League duty, Celtic do.

I would rest everyone we don’t have good cover for.  This is also a game for Nir Biton to start.  The player needs to get back in the saddle as quickly as possible after Tuesday, he is also unlikely to see Champions League group stage action again this season.

After his international and other duties, Charlie Mulgrew would benefit from a rest.  We don’t have sufficient cover for James Forrest and Beram Kayal, so send them away for the weekend.

Use every advantage possible.

The SFA say they have had zero contact re Dave King, but King says he he has been given the Green Light, so who is lying here?

My money is on the SFA lying.

On BBC radio Scotland Chick Young said King given all clear and now King saying the same.

    SFA corrupt to the core.

Pity that was Biton’s first notable act as a Celtic player, the boy looks a class act.

Great win the other night, says a lot when a 2-1 win against Ajax isnt that satisfying and exciting as we are used to. A run of the mill CL win, think about that, we are living in Great times

Well played Celtic, you performed as we dream you will. Thanks.

Have you ever heard Rangers (RIP) or Sevco fans singing sectarian songs- and if so why haven,t you ever thought it worthy of mention?

For the rugby player- I also played rugby- though for the John Bosco school team- a rugby team from a Gorbals school was always going to end in disaster- culminating in an on field slashing incident. Not often you hear that

Thank you for hitting the nail on the head. Anyone who chooses to criticize any Celtic player after an outstanding EUROPEAN victory is beyond my understanding. And don’t give me that: “well, I just want to see us doing better claptrap”.

Just how much soul searching does it take before one decides to sell out and just how much is it worth to do so. Is ‘The ragged trousered philanthropists’ still your favourite book or is Milton Friedman more to your taste these days.

Sally deserves to take deadco into the spfl, he’s earned it…wtf… £825,000 in wages and a million penny shares for winning division three, with the second highest wage bill in Scottish football.

The same soapbox Sally that boasted he was investing in shares, so the hunchbacks would pay his way.

  10. Paul McBride, QC. On BBC Newsnight Scotland on 31 August, 2011, summed up the “completely and utterly inexplicable verdict” on the man accused of assaulting Neil Lennon with regard to jurors as follows:

“In Scotland we have juries, who don’t have to read, who don’t have to write, they don’t have to count, and may be full of prejudices, unlike other countries. We may have to revisit this area again.”

If you think that in certain cases jurors may have to declare membership of organisations such as the Freemasons, Orange Order, or BNP please consider supporting this petition which closes on 29 October.

  13. Dear Pat

How are you getting on with your self proclaimed mission to ‘highlight sectarian singing wherever and whenever you hear it’?

How would you respond to allegations that the day of your tirade against Celtic fans at half time during the cup final, you were in fact acting at the behest of Jack Irvine to sully the name of Celtic and actually, your crusade never materialised from that point on.

If you find yourself in a Zurich you must go to El Lokal. It is a pub devoted to rock and roll, football, pirates and all sorts good stuff and is one of my favourite bars in the world.

The owner played with Arsenal in the 70s but gave it up as he didn’t like the training – too much like work for him. So he went back to Switzerland to play for Grasshoppers (I believe) to enjoy life again.

I could probably spend the rest of my life in the place.

If you go let me know your thoughts. Its definitely a Celtic shop – even if it doesnt know it yet.

Pat, do you have the courage of your convictions?

If so when will you actually follow this through and highlight sectarian singing.

Other than on one occasion, when you and Rob McLean didn’t hear, but accused Celtic games of doing so, I have never heard you expose sectarian singing, despite attending several games at which this has clearly been heard.

Specifically Celtic v Rangers at the last game those teams played, or any number of those games, the Famine song and the Billy Boys could clearly be heard, and yet you didn’t comment, or do you have an agenda against the club you claim to have once supported.

Alternatively, just ask him if the soup is hot.
