Nir Biton, preparations for the ArenA

1993

There will have been tired limbs at Lennonxtown when the players resumed full training yesterday after their exertions on Tuesday night but they will still be desperate to take to the field at Firhill on Sunday.  This game is a necessary preparation ahead of the Amsterdam AreanA in 12 days.

We have an advantage for Amsterdam…..

Ajax are nip and tuck with a handful of clubs near the top of the Dutch league.  They have three home games in the league and cup before facing Celtic and the pressure is on to win each of them.  Ajax don’t have the ability to allow players extended recuperation time to ensure they are in pristine condition for Champions League duty, Celtic do.

I would rest everyone we don’t have good cover for.  This is also a game for Nir Biton to start.  The player needs to get back in the saddle as quickly as possible after Tuesday, he is also unlikely to see Champions League group stage action again this season.

After his international and other duties, Charlie Mulgrew would benefit from a rest.  We don’t have sufficient cover for James Forrest and Beram Kayal, so send them away for the weekend.

Use every advantage possible.

Should have chosen the history of The Rangers, only goes back a year and a bit.

    Pat :

    1. Please explain your understanding of the difference between sectarian songs (illegal) and political songs (legal).

    2. What action did you take to curb the sectarian singing of Motherwell fans visiting Celtic Park when you were Chief Executive at the club?

    I want monteblanco’s question asked.

I have 8 of my own to add:-

    1) Pat- can you define sectarianism?

    2) Why can a song that can be bought and downloaded from global companies without prosecution be worthy of prosecution if sung at a football match?

    3) Why did you lend supportive evidence to the unnecessary, bigoted and authoritarian SNP bill, along with your pal Spiersy, and have you had to replace the Guardian with the Daily Mail as a result?

    4) Can you imagine what the 15 year old Pat Nevin at St. Andrew’s would think of the 45 year old who was ashamed of Celtic?

    5) How can you dissociate yourself from Celtic to support Hibs but you remain a supporter of Chelsea and have not switched to Fulham? Are racism, football violence and the antics of multi-millionaires more tolerable than Irish Republican singing and chanting?

    6) How come Tommy Boyd and Tosh McKinlay no longer have media careers? Do you think their refusal to put the boot into Celtic may have harmed their chances?

    7) Are you the only football pundit at the BBC who never had an EBT?

    8) Other than being speccy, having once visited an Art Gallery, and having at least one Higher, do you have any other qualifications to be deemed an intellectual?

I see Kames still have a small shareholding in Sevco International. I wonder how they square that with their approach to Risk Management? :

“We take risk management very seriously. Although the fund managers take ultimate responsibility for the risk in their portfolios, they are supported by a dedicated portfolio risk management team and risk modelling system.

Through a focused analysis of investment opportunities, the fund managers are able to understand the risks involved in every decision they make. In addition, we carry out independent monitoring and control of risks to make sure that we are following the agreed limits for each portfolio on behalf of our clients.”

  6. Neganon cheers mate. This place always surprises me even after all these years. It’s the oldest cubs mate. I’ll give her a shout and drop you a mail. Thanks again

  7. Winning captain see how long it takes him to say he stood up to the Chelsea racists …… But still played for them

  8. NatKnow – now the question you must ask is are Kames the actual holders of that investment – or is it a holding for one of their clients?

I am not against the resolution, it’s the ones who are heading it I don’t fancy, they are board haters and have one thing only in there mind, disrupt the board at all times, I have read all the stuff you have posted I am not a lawyer or an accountant, but I am not thick either, the guys who are heading the resolution will blow it I think, if I am wrong I will put my hands up right, you only have to look at the reply Morrissy posted about me, that wasn’t an opinion that was an attack on me and uncalled for, and if I ever see him I will be having a wee word with him about it, and we will see who is bending who over.

  10. Yep drop me an e-mail Greenlion – happy for her to come into the office and see some of our activities in action if it helps?

No help with the underfoot conditions in South Queensferry (given that I’m in East Kilbride), other than to suggest that if it’s grass it will be heavy.

Public fields usually are in poorer condition by this time of the year, if they are well used (over-used?). Sorry can’t be more helpful.

Hope your laddie gets on well tomorrow.

Charles Kickam- I’m sure it was Mr Quinn and a maths teacher who was a prop forward- it must have been the same team as they only ever had one team- played about seven games and nearly managed a draw in one of them

Estadio- I add RIP cos I’m respectful of the dead- no matter who they were

I’m just a few miles from South Queensferry.

If your laddie is playing on grass it will be like a ploughed field unfortunately.

Been raining big style all week here.

If it’s a school pitch , rather than a public park it may be a bit better maintained.

However, if another downpour overnight the game may be in doubt .

Hope your laddie gets a result

  16. On a more imminent topic………the nichts are fair drawing in and the clocks are faaing back……….I need that porridge recipe ,the one with holding the handle …stir stir stir ,let go ,and stir stir stir till the pot spins the same speed as the stir…anybody got that one …am flying home on Monday and have promised my 90 year old dad that this recipe exists….theres a 19 yr old Macallan at stake ….any takers (and a don,t mean DK from Castlemilk )……………..braw

  17. Tony Donnelly – read back at your e-mail and ask yourself who the bully is. Your contempt for people with a different view is childish at best.

What you dont like is someone calling you out on it.

So my challenge – at the next CQN gathering I challenge you to a debate on the Board strategy. Are you up for it or too much of a child to face it?

Thought about you at the game, and the changes you must have seen at The Holy Ground.

  20. The success of the new media brings with it problems, the latest manifestation of these being the hijacking of successful sites like CQN by hunterlopers.

This problem will have to be addressed or the vibrant free-for-all Celtic arguments will simply get sidetracked by those who wish to pick on someone and start a personalised attack till that person flounces off and we are left with a site where even more Sevconians are in the ascendancy.,

I would like to thank all on CQN for tollerating me while I collect support for my Scottish Parliament petition which only has till 29 Oct to run so after Tuesday you will have some peace until I have something to report.

BTW I do appreciate being given the opportunity to post on here and other Celtic sites such as CM & THB, but KDS locked my petition thread in their General section some time ago, so I know that I my views are not always welcome among the Celtic support.

  21. Tony I dont either but I would to debate with you. But you are a pathetic snivilling coward. And dont call me son.

    ========================================================

Six days later, on Wednesday 31 May, Rangers failed to overcome Bayern Munich in the final of the European Cup Winners Cup in Nuremberg, with the Franz Roth notching up the only goal of a dull match during extra-time.

    ========================================================

If only they had a Scottish referee, eh?

  23. neganon2 @ 20:30 on 25 October, 2013

“Tony Donnelly – if you arent thick you are disguising it very well.”

Neganon2, I seem to remember you being outed as a St Mirren supporter and you disappeared when the pressure was on them and Danny Lennon.

You reappeared once they started getting points. Now I know how that feels. If Celtic get beaten then I don’t want to go on the internet. I don’t want to read papers. I don’t listen to phone-ins.

Now you are back and have the cheek to criticise a real Celtic fan. Time you and the other bullies went somewhere else.

Have you thought of starting your own blog? I’m sure you would have plenty of (follow) followers.

    Best regards,

    Michael.
