NO GO, EMILIO

EMILIO IZAGUIRRE will NOT be offered short-term deal by Celtic, despite claims made by Montagua president Eddy Atala.

The Honduran club’s chief made the startling claim yesterday, but CQN reported the left-back had already dropped out of Neil Lennon’s plans before the end of the season and wasn’t in the Scottish Cup Final squad with Jonny Hayes starting in the No.3 position.

Plus the Hoops boss splashed £3million to bring in Boli Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna while transfer speculation continually surrounds Kieran Tierney.

Thirty-three-year-old Izaguirre, who has already had two spells at Parkhead, is currently in pre-season training with his first club Montagua.

Supremo Atala was quoted in the media as saying: “We spoke to Emilio Izaguirre’s agents this week and he has offers from clubs in the USA, Japan and Australia.

“There is also the possibility of him returning to Celtic, but that is only for a short time of six months.”

Izaguirre made 19 appearances last season during Tierney’s injury-enforced absence.

The defender, who picked up 13 winners’ medals at the Hoops, returned to Parkhead a year ago after an ill-fated spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fayha.

However, it is highly unlikely he will complete the hat-trick.
