No surrender Green, surrenders

1159

BBC report that Newco Rangers chief executive and major shareholder, Charles Green, has indicated to his board that he will resign.  Two weeks ago the last owner of Oldco Rangers revealed that he was also a director of Sevco 5088 Ltd, the company who had an irrevocable agreement to buy the assets of Rangers from administrators Duff and Phelps.

The entitlement of Sevco 5088 was subsequently assumed by Sevco Scotland Ltd (now Rangers Football Club Ltd, a subsidiary of Rangers International FC PLC).  Sevco 5088, which Green remains a director of, is now owned by Worthington Group PLC and has started legal proceedings against Rangers Football Club Ltd, claiming ownership of their assets, including Ibrox, Murray Park and all intellectual property.

Green initially rebuffed Whyte’s claims, insisting they were invalid, but his decision to surrender and.… walk away, is sure to add to speculation to what is coming next.  Boom!

Reporters are desperately trying to find out when Zadok the Priest was heard at Ibrox Stadium, releasing Green from one of his hilarious commitments.

NEW SERVERS ARE LIVE AND READY TO ROLL

The current CQN server was commissioned in June 2011.  When we approached the annual renewal time last year, like a lot of the media companies mentioned above, I thought, with no Rangers, interest will fade, there’s no point increasing infrastructure.

The traffic peak we endured in May 2012, when the server played its part in some major issues, hasn’t been matched since, but server resources continue to be stressed.  Last week I bought three new servers (we now have three physical and one virtual) and shortly after full time at Tannadice tonight, our man Andrew in Belfast will bring the system down and start the migration process.  We will be offline for a few hours.

After we’re back your existing user accounts will remain active.  The domain name (celticquicknews.co.uk) will point to a new server (IP) address but it can take hours (or days) for each internet service provider to update their records.  As a result, celticquicknews.co.uk might not find the new server immediately.

Once we are live I will let you know the server IP address (a series of numbers you can type into your address bar), which will enable you to get onto CQN before your ISP has updated their records.  Check Twitter (twitter.com/cqn)  or Facebook (CQN-Magazine) for the address.

Let’s hope it goes smoothly…….

  2. Morning all. Beautiful day down here at the minute.

It’s all the more beautiful because I have managed to get back on to CQN after a wee while of anxiety. Couldn’t get on in the normal fashion. Eventually found twitter, although I didn’t get much further. Then I discovered the magic numbers and here I am.

Any more revelations about the shenanigans over in Govan? Please Ghod a Gold will be found to be up to his neck in their latest downfall. Seems to be becoming an annual thing. Oh, the pleasure in writing that….

  3. Can’t use my ticket tomorrow due to family commitments. If anyone wants it let me know and we can arrange to pick it up.

    ….and there’s more…

“The board are examining evidence that one of Whyte’s business partners and a major player behind his attempts to reclaim control of Rangers is connected to the company behind Green’s takeover.

Lancashire businessman Joe Dwek – a long-time associate of Whyte – stands to pocket a fortune if disgraced Whyte is successful in his legal attempts to prove that he still owns the Ibrox club.

Dwek has an 11.6 per cent stake in Worthington Group plc, who confirmed to the Stock Exchange on Wednesday that they had agreed to help fund Whyte’s proposed courtroom battle.

Worthington Group are so confident of raking in a fortune that they have an option to buy Whyte out for £1million – and then split whatever’s left of Rangers’ cash and assets with the man who plunged the club into liquidation last year.

A probe has been launched into links between Craig Whyte and Charles Green

    PA/SNS

However, Dwek is also a business mentor to Zeus Capital founder Richard Hughes, who snapped up more than two million shares in Gers in December after engineering Green’s buyout. The Record has learned that the Rangers board are now aware of an interview in which Hughes refers to Dwek as “one of the most impressive people I’ve ever met”.

In 2005, Hughes told website Insider Media Ltd: “You can only look after someone like him if you’re keeping him happy and making him money.”

He added: “He’s intellectually demanding and forces me to think in new ways … now we take his counsel because we’ve got a solid platform to build on.”

  6. Well the new CQN looks good – logged on first time and very fast. Good job guys.

I was out all day yesterday and missed the big news. Seems The Rangers are looking for a new CEO, Wonder if there are any well known Scottish footballing names in the frame? Butt with Green still as major shareholder I doubt there will be too much change

Another title tomorrow Celts and a huge day for our community that despite efforts of the masonic sevco cabal at the sfa doing every thing possible to prevent it. They must be a laughing stock all over the world. A football club who lives within their means and who actually shows our country in a positive light cant have the man who got us there on the pitch to celebrate with us! We all need to do something. It’s too late for the final but either don’t release our players to them or pick a game where we don’t take up tickets. HH.

@BartinMain @white_italy Interesting; no one’s brought up Dwek before. Leaked/planted? Having a go at Zeus people? Walter & Jabba together?

  18. Found on twitter from Zombie site.

So pinch of salt maybe required.

OK – so I’m trying to get my head around some of the stuff in this thread and a few others. Is this what we have so far:

Zeus Capital seems to be the money behind Green. Reputable company, involved in Man Utd takeover etc. Expanded rapidly from an advisory agency to merchant bankers.

A big player at Zeus is Joe Dwek – a respectable businessman with a good track record.

Joe Dwek owns 28.35% of The Worthington Group plc and, along with Craig Whyte’s Liberty Capital (18.29%)) and Wulstan Earley’s Regenisis Holdings (53.36%), controls 100% of the shares in it. Wulstan Earley is Aiden Earley’s (Banstead Athletic) brother.

The Worthington Group plc is the source of the Jerome Pension Fund monies that were found in the Collyer Bristow client account and which are the subject of the court battle between HMRC, Jerome Pension Fund, Merchant House Group (Whyte) and Rangers/Duff & Phelps.

John Michael Edelson was a director in the Worthington Group plc until 6 July 2010. He is currently a Manchester United Director.

Edelson is also a former director of Regenesis Group Ltd.

Regenesis Holdings Ltd, part of the Group, as well as being owned by Whyte’s long time associate Wulstan Earley (brother of Aiden), were the recipients of £250k from Rangers plc (the Banstead Athletic deal). This is still ‘missing’.

(It could also be suggested that the Merchant House Group battle with Jerome Pension for the CB funds is part of a pincer movement on HMRC. Still haven’t figured out the Bansted Athletic thing).

Edelson became a director of Sheffield United on 10 June 92. He remained so until 14 January 1997 when he stepped down – the same day that Sheffield United got a new Chief Executive, Charles Green.

Now I know the next line should be a ‘Sir David Murray on the grassy knoll sort of thing’, but we haven’t got that far – yet!

I also find it hard to believe that some of the respectable men named above would be involved in anything ‘underhand’. Whyte was clearly out of his depth at Rangers but he’s been involved with some ‘big players’ who may, unwittingly or otherwise, have had a part to play in all of this.

However, all that said, didn’t someone once say ‘Greed is Good’?

  19. Woo-hoo, Jobo attains his first sub-21 minute 5K ParkRun of 2013.

  22. Provided we secure the title tomorrow I really do hope that no-one leaves the ground until Neil has been on the pitch. It’s the least we could do. Just means the first pint afterwards will be all the sweeter.
