Celtic’s objective for today is to add a striker, who is happy to take his chances at Celtic behind Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele. The target (as you will know) is 19-year-old France youth international Odsonne Edouard.
We have agreed a loan with Celtic having the option to buy for an eight-figure sum. There remains a complication between player and current club, Paris Saint-Germain, which all parties are hoping will resolve, but this one has the potential to go to the wire.
Odsonne is regarded by manager, scouts and coaches at Celtic as an absolute star. He made four starts for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season before off-field matters got in the way (which I’ll not trivialise, but we’ll deal with at a later date). He is a player who needs to leave Paris for new influences in a fresh environment. The move to Celtic could be the break he needs.
The initial loan period gives the player a chance to resolve any legacy issues before Celtic commit to breaking transfer records.
The manager has been impressed by Odsonne’s attitude thus far. He knows he would be the junior party in a three-man attacking roster, and that his objectives for the season is to press those above him.
In the coming weeks, our fit 19-year-old central defender will be joined by three more-senior team-mates. Competing with Kristoffer Ajer for fourth spot is only likely to be attractive to another teenage prodigy. I don’t expect movement on this front.
At this stage of the window, the chances of anyone near the first team being allowed to leave are reducing, but there are a lot of worried teams with >£100m of TV money out there. Enough to fund transfer fees and provide wages to unsettle the most faithful of stalwarts.
There will be calls made, you can be sure of that. I know some people at Celtic Park who will be happy people after 23:00 tonight, when the window in England closes, without any of our players being unsettled.

*we have 3, 2 are full internationals and the other has played in all 8 age groups for Croatia and scunnered that he cannae get intae the big team has opted tae dae a ‘Charlie Gallagher” i.e. play for his DNA national side.
As for young Ajer, he has played on all age groups for the Vikings, as for not being a centre half, Bobby Evans started out as an inside forward and the player he replaced in the national side was a right back until his club and national centre half and captain was sine died. Oh and Der Bomber, regarded as one of the greatest all time strikers, played against us at right back.

Saddened to hear that Liam Henderson is leaving. One of my favourites. Obviously Brendan knows better. There is nothing to prevent us buying Liam back in the future if he blossoms elsewhere.

Don’t know if Prince Charles lurks on CQN but he hates Nicholas Witchell. There is famous footage of a photo shoot of Prince Charles with his two sons, where Charles doesn’t realise that the media mics can pick up what he is saying although Charles is about 20 yards away. Nicholas Witchell asks a question and Charles whispers to his sons, “I can’t stand that bloody man”.

I`ll assume you are still here for the moment and make my comment.
I am mainly in agreement with your viewpoint. There are some posters on here whose arrogance is only matched by their ignorance. The less informed they are , the louder and more frequently do they post. Fortunately, I believe they are in a minority but it seems a lot more because of the frequency of posting.
I would suggest that the way to combat this is not by more thoughtful posters leaving but by ignoring the repetitious negativity.
Obviously, though, your choice.I will keep plugging away.

Get the feeling Celtic are holding off on announcing Edsonne Edouard until later incase nothing materialises for a CB, the deal is complete.
While he was covering some impending royal birth I remember some wag commenting that Nicholas Witchell was seven centimeters dilated. Seems an accurate description of him.
