Celtic’s objective for today is to add a striker, who is happy to take his chances at Celtic behind Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele. The target (as you will know) is 19-year-old France youth international Odsonne Edouard.
We have agreed a loan with Celtic having the option to buy for an eight-figure sum. There remains a complication between player and current club, Paris Saint-Germain, which all parties are hoping will resolve, but this one has the potential to go to the wire.
Odsonne is regarded by manager, scouts and coaches at Celtic as an absolute star. He made four starts for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season before off-field matters got in the way (which I’ll not trivialise, but we’ll deal with at a later date). He is a player who needs to leave Paris for new influences in a fresh environment. The move to Celtic could be the break he needs.
The initial loan period gives the player a chance to resolve any legacy issues before Celtic commit to breaking transfer records.
The manager has been impressed by Odsonne’s attitude thus far. He knows he would be the junior party in a three-man attacking roster, and that his objectives for the season is to press those above him.
In the coming weeks, our fit 19-year-old central defender will be joined by three more-senior team-mates. Competing with Kristoffer Ajer for fourth spot is only likely to be attractive to another teenage prodigy. I don’t expect movement on this front.
At this stage of the window, the chances of anyone near the first team being allowed to leave are reducing, but there are a lot of worried teams with >£100m of TV money out there. Enough to fund transfer fees and provide wages to unsettle the most faithful of stalwarts.
There will be calls made, you can be sure of that. I know some people at Celtic Park who will be happy people after 23:00 tonight, when the window in England closes, without any of our players being unsettled.
Enjoy your day, let’s hope Odsonne’s details are sorted and no one waves £50k per week-type money before our players.

Stockley to the Grecians, too close for comfort. Dirty scumbag.
Declan : Boy’s name meaning, origin, and popularity. … A traditional Irish name meaning “man of prayer” or “full of goodness.” St. Declan founded a monastery in Ireland, and St. Declan’s Stone has purportedly been the site of many miracles.

Sevco in last minute swoop for Turkish stopper Yerclubs Deidmate

Great to have full access to PL’s thought pattern.
8 figure transfer — interesting way of getting some board propaganda out.
However at least we seem to have gotten the hang of the talent pipeline concept.
All we need now is get the RB issue addressed properly and sort out the CB situation.
Just shows how quick things can change.
SCF last season and we were looking good.
DB and JS looked to have settled down and both had improved over the season with more to come. ES seemed to have some value even though he is not the standard we need plus KA was coming through the ranks and we always had ML for emergencies.
Three months later and we are in trouble big time.
DB — out injured for possibly three months with question marks over how quickly he can find his game face.
JS — All the talk is about physical weaknesses, plastic pitches and missed games. Then there is the rumours of lack of engagement and possible EPL moves to become relegation fodder.
ES — Another casualty at the moment, seemingly no takers at our price and he all the limited player he is ever going to be. A scrapper but not nearly good enough for the CL.
KA — Waiting his chance, looking pretty good but still needs more time.
ML — All in his head and he looks more at home auditioning for a part in the Wizard of Oz.
NB — playing at CB wearing L plates and reading the Ladybird book of defending.
RC — Had promise but something went wrong — surprised we have not tried to be creative and get him in on a 12/24 month loan. Not huge amounts of money involved, might be a case ES has to leave first.
Consequently lots to do — the trick is to build from a position of strength.
Hopefully after a who succession of second prizes PL will learn some new tricks.
JMcG — loaned back to Hibs — would be a good start.
If we don’t announce any new signings tonight, can I be the first to congratulate PL on getting all our dealings done early?
Three months later and we are in trouble big time.

Big Judith’s weather audio being interfered with by the crackling of her outstanding cleavage…
A deep depression between two warm fronts…………..
Unpopular thought….
For those about to vent on Lawell, bear in mind that, to the extent that you are disappointed, BRENDAN is responsible, at least in part.
He came in, wanting a much smaller first team pool. Unlike down south, when he had top players at the 19 year old level, there isn’t as much depth in Scotland.
So, 2 out of 2 strikers injured. Big drop down the depth chart to young Aitcheson. Ditto at the back with all 3 CB’s injured.
He took a risk, and got unlucky…..
Are we signing this French kid, or is it another, ‘We couldnt get it over the line’ type scenario?

Interesting reading back at the sheer vitriol of anyone not toeing the party line and daring to want more ambition.
There is a crass unthinking arrogance at work. Who does that remind you of?

There will be no panic buys……………just panic?
Young Odsonne must be good… PSG have had to panic buy Mbappe to replace him.
Will probably announce the big French lad at some point tonight to keep the troops happy. As for anything else, most unlikely.

I’m happy and accept that Rivaldo Coetzee’s failed medical was an unfortunate loss. I think BR and the Board have done very well – remember Jules Christ Kouassi Eboue came in January
There is no news in Izvestia

AC/DC conflict causing the interference?
Have I just had a post pulled Mods ?
Bojan joins Alaves on loan.
Pitiful and cringeworthy posts supporting the board, who so far, have signed nobody. Aye, well done on nothing.

Deadline Day Throwback: 2013
Celtic decline to pay asking price for Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason (causing mayhem on CQN).
He leaves in 2014 for £7.2m for a year Real Sociedad, then a year at Olympiakos, now on his 3rd year at Ausburg.
Scored 29 goals in his final season in Holland.
Scored total of 14 in the 3+ yrs since.
Five months later Celtic sign Leigh Griffiths for £1m.
CQN server fills up w apologies for criticisms in 2013*
*maybe not.
——-
Paul,
From memory the discussion was more between Finnbogason and Amido Balde who joined us that summer.
Finnbogason averages almost a goal every two games for Augsburg, which is pretty decent for the Bundesliga, particularly for one of the smaller clubs.
Balde has scored nine goals in the last four years, more than half coming in the Angolan league.
Anyway, delighted we have Griffiths!
Staggered that Sevco are even contemplating loan signings.
Are they trying to go bust?

How dare you try to shatter my illusions-))

They have to be good at something, so well done the board :-)

Keeping players from mega rich predators is just as important as signing new players.
SCULLYBHOY
Fat lady hasn’t sung
If we can get this young striker on an option-to-buy deal, that would be a decent window.
Armstrong re-signed, Paddy back, Ntcham looking like a good ‘un already. Hayes – meh – but decent cover.
Would’ve liked a CB but we won’t be the only club who will have missed out tonight.
Posters hitting the nuclear button – I’m staggered some of you can make it through the ups and downs of an average day without having a heart attack.

Must be easy when you have lackeys who will praise you, whatever happens:). Its laughable really, the old tugging the forelock to the master. Sad.

‘Finnbogason averages almost a goal every two games for Augsburg, which is pretty decent for the Bundesliga, particularly for one of the smaller clubs. ”
His record is 10 goals in 28 games played for Augsburg since February 2016. That is much closer to 1 in 3 than 1 in 2.
Plus, like Jordan Rhodes and Kris Boyd, he is a fairly immobile performer and would not fit within a BR Celtic side
A won’t sign for B unless B can get rid of C to D. D are interested in signing C but would prefer a swop deal with E going to B.
Deadline day Rubik cubes do my nut in.
Who would win in a fight between the Willo Flood window and the Michael Gray window?
Italiabhoy
Slight exaggeration there i think, ‘heart attack’?
Behave yourself, other peoples views are just as valid as yours.

Indeed, in fact were the last three months not just a wild n crazy dream(cue a crazy cackle cackle) and we never really left the trouble behind at all – ever??
