Parma liquidation precedent would work against Rangers

1018

We have spoken before that preliminary positions are being established ahead of the much-anticipated outcome of HM Revenue and Customs tribunal against Rangers with the possibility that, in the event the decision goes in favour of HMRC, the company could go into liquidation.  This weekend brought a fresh attempt to pitch a positive scenario in favour of Rangers.

One newspaper sought solace in the case Parma, stating that the Italian club was allowed to re-emerge in Serie A after going out of business in 2004.

Unfortunately this is a complete misrepresentation of the facts, as far as Parma is concerned, precedent points to an entirely different outcome.  Parma went into administration on 28 April 2004 after Parmalat, the dairy company which owned a majority of their shares, also went into administration.  Parma remained in administration for three years before emerging after a successful restructuring of their debts.  The club was then bought by a new company – but crucially – continuity of football operations was possible because there was no liquidation and debts were restructured in a way consistent with prevailing administration laws, that allowed a company to continue trading.

This, however, is not the end of the precedent Parma can offer Neil Doncaster and his SPL board.  In 1968 AC Parma went into liquidation and disappeared from existence.  They are an ex-football club, to use a phrase I can see creeping into the local lexicon soon.

Shortly after the failure and permanent disappearance of AC Parma, another club, AC Parmense, who were newly promoted into Sere D, changed their livery to match their better known former-neighbours and changed name to AC Parma.  It was this club, AC Parma-formerly-known-as-AC Parmenese, who were promoted through the divisions and went on to win three European trophies.

Precedent from Italy is clear: if a large SPL club is liquidated an opportunity exists for Clyde FC to change their name, ditch the white shirts, rent a large, vacant, stadium and try to work their way through the leagues. Just as Airdrie United-formerly-known-as-Clydebank, are attempting to do.

There are no free tickets to the elite level of Scottish football.

  2. As I said guys, I’m not condoning Balotelli, but the treatment he receives appears to stem from the media’s portrayal of him.

The Shearer incident mentioned by Ulster-Celt above would point to there being double standards for the indigenous players as opposed to those from further afield.

Another example would be Scholes’ tackles, laughed at and excused as he ‘cannot tackle’ while others induce the scorn of the English media.

Right, I’ve suitably bored myself now stating the obvious.

  3. Re. Badr El Kaddouri and article in Daily Record.

I just found his interview given to the Dynamo TV. Daily Record made it up. They are utter idiots of the highest order.

He told that did not like Scottish game but also said:

Journalist: But the atmosphere at Celtic Park – full stadium must be priceless.

BEK- Yes, this is fantastic. This is something I have never seen before. Whole Scotland is exciting with football. Tickets for our games played in Glasgow were always sold out early and buying them was almost imposible. Thousands Celtic fans were traveling with the team to support us in games played away from Glasgow. Celtic is very loved club in Scotland and it’s big honour and privilage to play for that team.

Journalist-You played few games for Celtic in September. After that you had worse time at Celtic. What has happened?

BEK- First one and half month I was one of first team player. Celtic coaches were very happy with my play. I scored goal against Glasgow Rangers. That was successful time for Celtic, not successful time for me. Club was promoted to Europa League competition. I could not play in Europa League and that meant for me no games. I could not play for first squad in league.

I must stress that I have no claims against Celtic. I spent fantastic time at Celtic. People were very helpful. They teached me a lot of good things.

I can blame only myself. I had thoughtime in my life due to three operations in last 18 months.

  4. just looking at the develpmemts proposed close to celtic park in connection with the commonwealth games and east end regeneration, i’ll tell you what, its a hell of a lot more appealing on the eye than the flats i walked by on my way to and from the games as a kid.

    http://www.web93.co.uk/MedicalDentalGlasgow.pdf

the change down parkhead way will be massive and celtic’s plans will improve it further

on selling players; no way should we even consider selling any none-fringe players, why would we weaken self at this stage in the season?

all fringe players should be allowed to leave whenever we get offered half decent money

  5. Most interesting part of Regans tweet is that last bit about being able to discuss openly soon…..something afoot. If all was above board he could say he has looked at it and there is nothing to worry about. His teasing last words point to not all being as it should. Fingers crossed they are going to shafted from all directions.

Some low down cumbag stole our horse syndicate money – several thousands of £££££, then my credit card got hit for £4k (got it back no prob) but strangely with the missus having serious health issues, the money was incidental.

My bro called me this afternoon to tell me that the Asda in Larkhall will be changed to blue and white. He works for CBES (Willie Haughy’s firm) and they do a lot of stuff for the supermarket chain.

How pathetic is that? Even worse than Asda would lie down to the bigot’s demands

James Forrest……12.24……THAT is the BEST post I have ever read on CQN ….. Justice, and the pursuit of Justice pre-empts commercial (or any other) consideration…..as a Club we have been ‘resisting’ for decades…….out Board know that, and will be working in the background to ensure we, and every other Club in Scotland, have a future ‘level playing field’….

Scottish Football would not ‘survive’ unethically allowing a team to play in SPL…..I was going to say that any Club with any character would ‘take their punishment’, but we won’t go there….THAT would be a non-starter…!!!!….LOL…!!!

..and Traynor & Co are only trying to save their jobs….they have only survived by promoting hatred…
