    I am routinely one of the first to insist that Celtic minded people behave to the highest standards.

     

     

    Measuring oneself against that affront to society across the city, or indulging in whataboutery is, IMHO, not good enough.

     

     

    However, by my reckoning , NL has been subjected to the following by Rangers supporters:

     

     

    – Physically assaulted on at least three occasions

     

     

    – dealt with two other assailants himself without it going to court

     

     

    – bullets sent through the post

     

     

    – hanging effigy online (are your eyes working today Roddy Forsyth)

     

     

    – Home address posted online to incite attacks

     

     

    – attempted murder by bombing

     

     

    Respectfully, don’t judge this particular brave unless you’ve walked in his moccasins.

    Yip, it turned the responisibility on the clubs to act within the rules on its head.

     

     

    Previously, clubs had a duty to ensure that their players were eligible. Now apparently, the onus is on the SFA/SPFL to apply some enhanced diligence to each registration application, a diligence that is wholly inadequate to assure the fidelity of the register.

     

     

    You could call it an invitation to cheat…

    A most informative read which gives an idea why no charge of dishonesty (failing to act with the upmost good faith) has never been made.

     

     

    How could anyone or any club who had acted so for ten years or more be allowed SFA or SFL membership?

     

     

    How could the transfer of the SFA Membership of such a dishonest club be allowed under SFA discretion?

     

     

    How all of that happened to keep what appears to be an uncontrite entity entry into Scottish football should be something a JR would look at.

     

     

    Were serious aspects overlooked by the SFA and SPL when setting up both the SFA Judicial Panel that only looked at behaviour from 6th May 2011 and the LNS Commission who never looked at the dishonesty aspect of DOS and BTC ebts because they were not asked to?

     

     

    Would stripping titles be an aknowledgement such dishonesty took place hence reluctance?

     

     

    It’s not as if the Phoenix club can be expelled now is it?

     

     

    Time fix our game. New club 2012. Old club no trophies from 1999.

    Setting aside those with a specific agenda, I understand the media reluctance pre Supreme Court to question the LNS decisions. I was reluctant to myself on the basis that one would need an ego the size of Schiehallion to think that an utrained Joe Blogger could measure up against the combined legal knowledge and experience of a Court of Session Judge sitting with two QCs.

     

     

    But… the commission were only permitted to consider the facts and evidence presented. They were not permitted to draw on anything that had not been presented, and this, I think, is where the challengable weaknesses of the commission’s decisions are to be found.

    The many transgressions were committed by a club that is no longer a member of either SPL or SFA. It simply doesn’t exist in any legal sense anymore.

     

     

    Acting to apply retrospective correction to the record is only a problem for those who hold that the old club continues.

    I understand the point about feeling qualified to question the expertise you mention, but, given that Grahame’s article specifically mentions Bryson, I’d have thought questions about his interpretation of registration rules would have been appropriate for a professional journalist, whose doubt is expressed in the tone of his article, but not specific questions.
