To recap on last night’s nonsense. A couple of beers in the Vogue watching the Hibees win. Taxi to Byres Road where we met Bill Nighy in Little Italy. Hand on heart I can say that he is one of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege to meet in my life. An absolute gentleman. His mother grew up in the Gorbals of Irish decent. A quick pint in Tennants that decended into a sing song before heading of the Kelvingrove bandstand to watch Hipsway and sup Birra Moreetti on a beautiful August evening. After which we retired to the Park Bar where I had chat with Dave King and Alistair Johnson and I think I now might own The Rangers. All in all a fairly quiet night. Hh

Nobody voted for Kim-Jing Un ( or his daddy who sought , incidentally , the permission of Stalin before he could start the Korean war.)
You know. Just like Castro .
And brother Raul .
And other fascist dictators.”
Sheesh!- do you really believe that I think two people voted in North Korean elections? Really? Your lack of irony shines through in response to my joke comment- just as the irony escaped you in TBB’s comments about reindeer in the Serengheti – when you chose to educate him on their absence- even though you later demonstrated that you got the point- Why?
Or that I need lessons on the lack of democracy in certain non-democratic states??
True Democracy is much more than just allowing the people to vote.
It requires free and open access to impartial information- which is why elites rush to own the means of communication and why those institutions that are not subject to such control – your favourite being the BBC- are under such attack and are now reduced to appointing Tories as political correspondents in order to get their license renewed.
We have systems which are more democratic (Russia allows voting but does not allow for regime change from without: China has embraced capitalism but has not introduced democracy) than others but we do not have anywhere that provides a real ideal as yet

That is one of the daftest reds I have seen. He trod on his ankle deliberate;y in the direct line of the ref. It was not a damaging attempt to injure it was just a stupid petulant reaction and it was done by the team captain.

Hush , now.
Lord Haw Haw was an Irishman.
;-)
Is that a racial slur?
‘Lord Haw Haw’ William Joyce was an American citizen, who had resided in British territory for about twenty-four years, applied for and obtained a British passport, describing himself as a British subject by birth.
That subject came up before and I think the consensus was that it was first sung by Liverpool supporters.
Maybe someone can confirm when it was?

*actually i always thought that Everton sung it first as they thought that Gerry Marsden was a Toffee. They had a right good team and were reigning champions when it made the top of the charts in the autumn of 1963.
I believe that we started tae sing it in 1969 at the urgency of the Big Mhan prior tae the SC Final tae move away fae rebel songs. Might be a donut here.
Yes Liverpool did sing it before us, they might have sung it first but we sing it best.
Celtic supporters started singing YNWA in the 1970’s well after Liverpool I’m sure.
Green n’ white woolen scarves from the same era were called ‘Walk on’ scarves and they
helped the song catch on when held aloft in unison.
So my older brother told me anyway.

Too easy for the boy Murray.
They panic as soon as you run at them.
Their defence is tragic.

I hope Shelvey is not a pal of Brendan’s.
“you’ll never walk alone” was written by Rodgers ( not Brendan) and Hammerstein, for the musical Carousal.
Those guys later wrote ” the sou d of music” in 1965.
Gerry and the pacemakers then recorded it, and Liverpool fans then sang it.
We then adopted the song.

They also stole ‘She Loves You”
Tell ye, these multi-posters are clever eh:)
Yawn.
You will need to do better than that Haw Haw
So it seems the jungle did resound to “I’d like to teach the world to sing”
We sure taught them how to sing YNWA.
The way Walk On was meant to be sung.
Celtic sung the walk on first but just after Liverpool and Livingston who we both sang it before but they sang it after BorusunchinRealmadBarcelLinfield.
Macjay told me so it must be wiki.
