Periods of poor passing

154

It is a classic fallacy of Scottish football.  No sooner does someone utter that a team’s second 11 could win the league, they are brought down to earth.  Ninth placed Motherwell failed to take anything from Celtic Park on Saturday, but the champions were well below par for the second successive game.

If we were at the Plastic Pasta Stadium in Livingston, or bumpy Tannadice, the blame would immediately go to the surface, but even though Celtic Park looked immaculate, our passing was poorly executed.

Ange Postecoglou has already pondered this problem this season.  Three of our four opening league fixtures were punctuated by periods of poor passing: Aberdeen, Ross County and Hearts.  The system then caught fire against Dundee United, Ross County in the League Cup, Newco and for 50 minutes against Real Madrid.

There were periods of worry in the game against Shakhtar Donetsk that, remarkably, St Mirren were able to make more of.  Motherwell may well have watched and learned.  Wednesday will inevitably inject change into Celtic veins.  There will be more space in advanced position and let’s hope any sense of casualness will evaporate.

  1. Ignore above. I have just Googled and, apparently ,it is a trial agreed with both Clubs.

Seems a daft one to me.

  2. RIP Andrew/ Neustadt

echoing some thoughts from others, yir man Neustadt brought a Braw positivity to this place, always proud of our team and achievement,s real supporting while not being able to attend in person,

not for him panic over a mere results, no hyperbole of a poor performance from a player, or indeed a disaster of a season a year and a half ago he didnt throw the scarff on the park. nope , lets count everything we have and be happy for the memories it made. Braw just in a name title gave me a wee chuckle, and then in usage in each posting.

I never met him, but wish i had,

    rest in peace.

  3. Condolences to the friends and family of Neustadt Braw. He was a beacon of positivity on this site and his pithy contributions will be sorely missed.

  14. Sending Love to all of Neustadt Braw’s loved ones.💚💚

He could be replied to be friendly and welcoming, to all.

    Sad news, indeed.

  15. Hot Smoked. 4.58.

There is a rationale behind it.

They are testing to establish if attendances hold up or, indeed, increase.

When the new Sky deal comes in, clubs will be allowed to select a few of their home games, for PPV, as long as Sky aren’t showing it live.

They aren’t allowed to screen it, on Saturday afternoon, as per current UK rules.

So if Saturday tea time works, attendance wise, they could put it on PPV too, a potential win/win, financially.

  16. Neustadt Braw was one of those posters you’d love to meet. Exchanged several posts with him and he was always cheerful. I loved his ‘smiley emoji thing’ at the end of his posts.

Ar dheis láimh Dhé go raibh anam uasal Andy Griffin.
