Petrie would rather sell McGinn to anyone but Celtic

602

It comes as no surprise that Celtic have made a bid for Hibernian’s John McGinn.  The player was the standout central midfield performer in domestic football against a Celtic team who are at their strongest in that area.

Should he sign, he would be a similar age to that of Stuart Armstrong when he joined Celtic three years ago, and who he will replace in the squad.  He is also a better player that Stuart was when he left Dundee United.  He has the engine and attitude for Brendan Rodgers to significantly improve him.

Goals grab headlines and the two McGinn scored at Celtic Park last season, as well as his goal at Ibrox which secured a win, raised the player’s profile, but goals only tell a small part the McGinn story.

Hibs will be happy to wait until the last week of August and will try to attract other bidders.  Despite taking a back seat when it comes to day-to-day duties, Rod Petrie remains a key figure at Easter Road and will do whatever he can to sell to anyone but Celtic.  I don’t expect Celtic to pay whatever Hibs ask, so the deal is far from assured, but with only 11 months remaining on his contract, he will definitely leave Hibs before 1 September.

I see Belgium got awful leaky at the back last night….

  1. Big bhoy I don’t know who you are trying to kid more, yourself or everyone else. As TET has written Celtic knew all about the 5wa.neven if we didn’t have a place on the board Celtic as the biggest and most powerful club in Scotland would have been fully consulted. I love the Eric Reilly was on holiday nonsense. Classic board nonsense.

Now we have auldheid spinning stories to try and justify the inevitable fix. He as usual paints his opinion as fact. The thing that makes me laugh is that he claims Celtic were worried about having nowhere to play. Armageddon anyone?

But there is a real problem with that excuse. If Scottish football had collapsed there would have been a good case for Celtic finding another league and Scottish football folding. Errr the nearest league is England and isn’t that what the money monkeys want anyway.

Quite frankly the revisionism is disgusting.

Celtic have shafted every one of us. They did it for love of the hun( DD has praised the Hun more than Celtic supporters). They did it for the love of auld firm. They did it for the money. They have spent the time since them covering their tracks and avoiding saying anything because they know that if it got out it would be curtains for them. They have used CQN and paul67 in particular to spin stories and throw a few squirrels in there. They strung along res12 and even when presented with evidence they refused to deal with it.

They have nothing but contempt for the “criminally racist”Celtic support. They want your money but demand your compliance.

They utterly betrayed us and all the generations that came before us.

Auidlheid I despair of. He loves to try and complicate the position. It isn’t complex but this allows the chance of a “technicality” being introduced. And then all this Celtic are powerless unless other clubs agree. If Celtic had spoken out, challenged and complained the whole sorry mess would have been impossible to bury in the way they have.

As it stands absolutely nothing has changed and they will cheat you and your children ad infinitum.

Remember this is about much more than football. It’s about maintaining institutional racism.

I am down to do bar duties at the cricket club on saturday – let’s just hope it,s Colombia

Also absolute nonsense is the idea that Celtic opposed the 5WA in any way shape or form, never mind tried to stop it. My main point now is that it is that agreement which now renders any possibility of an independent view from the er Independent Panel ultra their vires.

stupid play by the columbian … he was fortunate to not see red for a silly head to the chest…although the english player went down rather theatrically

  5. Unfortunately I can’t see a Colombia goal before one for the island monkeys

  6. i'vehadtochangemymind on

    a peach from twitter

‘zidane got a straight red for that in the final’

  7. mike in toronto on

and now the columbian defender goes down like he was shot … shame to see good players resort to these tactics …

I know it is part of the game, but it seems to be more common now than ever, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

  8. Pretty poor fare so far.

Two cautious teams hoping the other makes a mistake.

Game needs a goal to force these two tortoises out of their shell.

  9. World champions-elect yet to trouble the Colombian goalkeeper after a stagnant first half .

Tildsley and Hoddle at their boak-inducing worst

  10. mike in toronto on

    Fan-a-tic…

what a poor half of football ..

I think this game needs someone in the middle of the park who can put his foot on the ball… and actually play some football….

  11. The ad that’s currently on ‘wish in’ says it all about overpaid footballers with money to burn

    notlaughingCSC

anyway got to go out for a while

  12. Better chances for the engerlund. Theres very little quality on this side of the draw.

Any of Brazil, Uruguay, France and Belgium would be certs for the final

  13. NA2

” Remember this is about much more than football. It’s about maintaining institutional racism. ”

    Pretty much says it all.

How people can’t see this is beyond me.

Quintero and Quadrato both look capable of that but they both need to go direct to Falcao and get up to support him rather than look pretty in the middle.

Not the greatest England team I’ve ever seen but they have players who can score unfortunately for them their midfield is bang average!

  15. I am glad I’m listening to Tildsley and Hoddle but the German comentry is not much better.

Willing england on at every turn, constantly referring to them as ” die tree lions” is enough to give you the book.

What worse is I’m sitting on a terrace full of Germans and every one of the is supporting england.

    The rivalry is not mutual.

  16. I reckon England are using the same tactic of losing to get an easier game in the next round.

It makes sense to me anyway!

  17. Neganon

No one has any evidence that Celtic even knew of the 5 way agreement. Now you suggest they were consulted as we are the biggest club. This was done behind our backs.

Celtic have consistently been excluded from Machinations of these blazers.

No logic in the position that we agreed to the 5 way Agreement because we wanted to play in the EPL. Your conspiracy theories need realigned mate they don’t line up

As far as your criticism of Auldheid spinning and dressing up opinion as fact, then I know who’s stuff has proved to be correct in the past. Its not your theories

    Auldheid @ 12:53 pm,

So true, it is important for us who remember a competitive vibrant Scottish League and a quality National team that gave us pride that instil on the younger generation what the game was like and can be again…What Sir David Murray did to our game – a lost generation – wasn’t tantamount to fraud it was complete extortion.

*First of all why give steptoe his full name and title, he’s a charlatan. I’ve been harping on about this for ages; however, since I’m no part of the clique lol, nobody seems tae care, either that or the blogs full of craftsmen and I don’t mean time served ones either.

I had an acquaintance who befriended a Mersey born goatshagger who told him “we can get you off with anything, except murder and even that’s debatable”

We have the cheek tae point fingers at countries that are controlled by cartels and mafias. Is there no one out there that will challenge the widow’s sons?

  19. TET. It’s the cheating girlfriend analogy. You love yep her but you know it ain’t right but your are scared of the consequences of facing the truth.

    And who can blame them?
