Politics of the game encroaching on Neil Lennon

847

It is one thing for football fans and administrators to be embroiled in the politics of the game but it’s no wonder that Neil Lennon tires of such subjects.  His team are top of the SPL and in the knockout stages of the Champions League but he is being distracted by references to his club emanating from the lower leagues.  Maybe he should limit his comments on this subject to those of Walter Smith, “We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune.”  Every “new” club deserves the same courtesy.

Can you imagine the reaction if Neil said the same!

Speaking of which, I see the man who has avoided trying to win friends among other clubs since his arrival in the game last year is now trying to influence people on league reconstruction.  Good luck with that.

We spoke over the weekend about well-run clubs in the SPL (Inverness, St Johnstone, Ross County, Motherwell), where managers come and go but results tend to remain buoyant.  Notably absent from this list was Dundee United, who have underachieved for years, but whose manager, Peter Houston, was today given permission to speak to English Championship side, Blackpool.  Houston has been unable to sprinkle magic dust over Tannadice so, if offered the Blackpool job, I expect him to accept.

United need to ask some fundamental questions should they be forced to replace their manager, like why they have vastly more resources than Motherwell, and appear to be able to produce prodigious young talent, but consistently fail to match the Lanarkshire side the in the league table.  They are a club in need of vision.

Invercelt – you suggested that this was the blog of a supposedly all-inclusive organisation….your words not mine.

P67 is big and bad enough to defend any suggestions that this is not his blog, but a Celtic mouthpiece!

As a good Celt and knowing your history, you’ll understand Hoops fans defending our all-inclusive background. It’s beyond question, don’t you think?!

    TET,

Althought it contained blasphemous material it was not based on blasphemous material, there is a massive difference between blasphemy and criticising a church.

Sounds like your man was a bit confused.

Instead of a public funded funeral

why dont they give the old coo a privatised one?

  7. Religion, Politics and the Ladies were never to be discussed in polite society.

    Tonight on here shows why.

The hate and venom spouted on the blog is truly nauseating and definitely not the Celtic Way.

    Not my Celtic, anyway.

    Take your filth elsewhere, please.

I was just doing the old online booking thing for Juve tickets for me and the mini-Pujols when I realised that the St Mirren semi-final is nearly on us too.

Before choosing from a whole stadium of restricted views and lack of atmosphere, does anyone know if the GB have a section yet, and where it is? The most fun I’ve had at Hampden recently was the 4-0 semi against Aberdeen when we ended up right in amongst them.

    Cheers

    vp,

Naw it’s no, it’s a simple pleasure, I really really don’t care for her, as I said to me she is a lizard, in fact I would view a lizard with more sympathy.

As far as I’m concerned she’s getting a bit of karma on the way out, I just wish others like her would take it as a sign.

I can assure you my sympathy is with all casualties of war whichever side they are on, sadly we never seem to learn the lessons. The young people that die are pawns, of that there is no doubt and people like Thatcher and Blair, for that matter are responsible.

I am under no allusions as to what type of person Thathcher was, evil vindictive, uncaring with no social or indeed any conscience. However I still cannot bring myself to wish harm on another human being no matter how evil, I do respect your right to judge her as I have done myself but I believe my judgment of her will be inconsequential.

I respect the fact that you do not believe in a higher being and I am only stating what I believe in.I do not however feel that people on this site should be wishing harm on others.I am sure that it is something which we will not agree on vive le difference.

The Spanish media are bigging up The Wall, and slagging Valdes, they see him as a shoe in.

If and when he goes, Barca would be my preferred choice, he is good enough to play for the second best team on the planet.

  15. Paul67 et al

Good to hear Bernard Gallacher standing up for Paul McGinley on Radio 5 right now. he believes Montgomery is being “mischievous” in allowing himself to be put forward, by Darren Clarke it appears, as Ryder Cup Captain. He also said that it was potentially divisive especially as Europe’s top two players, McIlroy and Donald have both strongly supported McGinley for Gleneagles. Wonder if the bookies are offering odds on the choice?
