Positioning, decision making and set plays. Compper and Ajer are prepped

195

After giving his players a week of rest and recuperation Brendan Rodgers will have his best opportunity of the season to work on tactics and systems this week. We watched our passing game disintegrate in recent months culminating in the reversal at Tynecastle.

The manager can talk to his players for hours, but time on the training field is limited with rest days, game days and recovery days. Any tactical work also needs to be balanced with the need to maintain endurance and speed training.

The squad are together in Dubai and will put hours into working on positioning, decision making and set plays. For me, the critical outcome of this winter break will be in central defence. This area of the field is pivotal to what the manager wants to achieve in possession. Our central defenders are also subject to more transfer speculation than anywhere else in the team, a fact which may have contributed to recent decline in performances.

I have not watched Marvin Compper (try to avoid highly selective YouTube videos) but suspect Brendan could end the month with his new German recruit partnering Kris Ajer.

NEW! The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

  8. Just in from work to see on various blogs and Facebook rumours of them getting liquidised again, lots of comments saying it will cost them 15 points, I would say that that would be the case if they were to go into administration , surely if they are deedimacated again they get bumped out the league , is there anything written in stone to keep us right on this ?.

On 30th June 2011, Rangers owed £2.8m in tax and interest linked to a “Discount Options Scheme” (DOS)which operated from 1999 to 2003. The details of the scheme are well documented. However, Rangers had accepted the £2.8m liability, which rendered them ineligible for a license to play in 2011/12 European club competition. Yet the Scottish FA (SFA), of which Peter Lawwell was a member, issued said license.

So whats changed this time, apart from the fact that Lawwell is no longer in the SFA, dates and names?

    =================================

The SFA under pressure from PL (under pressure from Res12 guys) are looking into how the SFA Licencing Committee on which Andrew Dickson sat were able to grant that licence imn 2011.

Between July and September 2017 Celtic engaged with the SFA to have a review of LNS as result of Supreme Court ruling on EBTs.

The SFA refused but conceded that there was an issue on licensing which the Compliance Officer is investigating.

Indeed they used that investigation as a reason not to revisit LNS because to do so might compromise the Compliance Officer task.

You can read the correspondence between Regan and Lawwell at

    http://cdn.celticfc.net/assets/downloads/SFA_Correspondence.pdf

In that correspondence Lawwell makes excellent points justifying a review, something he might not have been that able to do if he were still on an SFA Board.

Now I appreciate that information like this is not what those who criticise the Celtic Board or PL want to hear, but I think it only right a more balanced case is presented to readers.

By refusing a review of LNS but conducting an investigation into the UEFA licence, there are matters in the latter that do connect to the former and they are too well known and documented to be buried by the SFA.

Just let this river flow all by itself, it needs no pushing.

    ===========================

TRFC’s main creditors are the Directors of TRIFC who loaned money to TRFC.

Not sure what outstanding amounts are owed to other creditors but not enough to justify liquidation as a properly run club is achievable if the wage bill is cut and administration will allow them to do that.

They will loose 15 points because it is over 5 years since the insolvency of RFC either that or its TRFC’s first insolvency (take yer pick, neither the SFA or SPFL will say, ) and it is an administration I would expect them to emerge from. So unless a 15 point deduction and reduction of quality of players in second half of season sees them so depleted they get relegated then better take the hit now than at end of this season as they would have to start 15 points down whicj might affect ST renewals.

If they are still in administration at start of next season , having taken a 15 point hit this season then they start 5 points down.

Yes. IMHO that correspondence was deliberately leaked by Celtic PLC to give the impression that they were ‘doing something”. The judicial review request was promptly denied by the SFA and here we are. Next.

Yes. IMHO that correspondence was deliberately leaked by Celtic PLC to give the impression that they were ‘doing something”. The judicial review request was promptly denied by the SFA and here we are. Next.

    ===================

Yes they and the SFA agreed to put out the correspondence as part of a masquerade in which they and Celtic are hand in hand. Read the material.

The SFA did NOT rule out a Judicial Review for although that that was mentioned by Celtic so too was ANY independent review and the SFA ruled out a further independent review not a Judicial Review, which was being pursued by supporters and did not proceed on QC advice to them.

Its your opinion and you are entitled to it, but when I read the letters every point made by Celtic is on the money which is a lot of trouble to go to for a sham, as each point requires SFA to respond opening up more questions which a sham would want to avoid.

It is also significant the SFA think a wide enquiry will jeopardise the Compliance Officer investigation which means the UEFA licence is now the only enquiry show in town and Celtic are all over that episode as result of Res12 work.

What really calls your interpretation into account is that in May 2012 Celtic wrote to SFA expressing concerns over Rangers use of EBTS AND COPIED THE LETTER TO UEFA. Not exactly behaviour that suggests complicity with the SFA is it?

Even more intriguing is what UEFA said in reply if anything for we do not know.

Now if they said keep us out of it, we don’t want involved, that explains Celtic’s reluctance to pass Res12 but willingness try to resolve domestically with SFA. Even when UEFA did get involved they were reluctant to act and answer questions put to them.

That domestic route is the one that was followed after the AGM but progress was hampered by the inability until the CW trail and Supreme Court ruled to use leaked material to really go for both LNS and the UEFA Licence issues.

Going for it using known information is what appears to have happened from July 2017.

Until the Compliance Officer reports to say if the Senior Council advice that the SFA say they received, which was there was a case to be answered on the UEFA licence was sound or not, then Celtic are right to wait for that investigation which HAS a link to LNS to run its course.

As said previously Celtic are taking a keen interest in what emerges being in possession of the information that the Senior Counsel considered in advising the SFA.

The devil is in the detail. sometimes that detail supports a held belief, other times it doesn’t, sometimes it persuades a change of mind and for others the narrative from the detail is dismissed because it challenges the belief too much.

Whenever the compliance officer submits his assessment/summation/judgement the consequences will be time served or a fine. Your interpretation of due process and mechanics of the situation is sublime and I commend you on it. However, hun consequences will be zilch even if they go into administration again. 23. Rangers administration odds suspended but eager rival fans are forgetting one thing

Some bookies have suspended betting but it shouldn’t excite rival fans too much.

    Updated22:05, 8 JAN 2018

Bookies have suspended betting on Rangers being relegated

Bookies have suspended betting on Rangers being relegated from the Scottish Premiership due to financial troubles but perhaps rival fans shouldn’t get too excited.

The Ibrox club currently sit third in the league, 23 points ahead of bottom placed Ross County , making it highly unlikely they would be relegated through normal means.

But internet rumours of financial problems at the club have sparked a series of bets and resulted in betting being suspended by many major bookmakers.

Rival fans have been sent into a frenzy by the news on social media but suspended betting means little.

In recent times, betting has been suspended on Robin van Persie joining Rangers, Alex McLeish making a shock Ibrox return and on Zlatan Ibrahimovic joining Celtic.

Bookies often suspend betting if there is a sharp uptake on the amount of money being gambled.

Carlos Pena clutches Rangers shorts as he arrives for Cruz Azul medical… and appears to wipe his NOSE with them

It doesn’t mean that something is about to happen and is purely the bookmaker looking after themselves.

In reality, a suspension can be triggered by just a handful of punters taking a gamble on any bet.

So while much of Scottish football is getting excited about the prospect of Rangers going into administration, Ibrox fans shouldn’t be too worried about the news.

    ……..

The above is how those excellent journos at the Daily Record ret this. To tell the Ibrox fans “Not to worry too much” ??????

They are also “reporting today that Ranjurs hope to sign Russell Martin…IF they can unload Bruno Alves ??????

This “possibility” if true is yet another example of the Daily Rangers attempts to somehow keep the Huns onside, as surely for ANY Club to want to OFFLOAD their CLUB CAPTAIN…for another player should be major news anywhere else ?

Also, this “story” comes one day after Murty conducted an interview with this Daily Rag and stated…” I don’t have to sell players to bring in others” !

On Filth Filth last night, some were posting, ” How can we go into admin again, when we have just spent £1 MILLION on a player ( Murphy)”

One poster asked ” Name the player that we spent £1 million pounds on recently, who was it” ?

he asked that question…and others quickly accused him of Tarrier Talk etc..

They really are the thickest CHUMPS on the Planet.
