Practice penalties, de Vries

472

And then the lights came back on.

You and I have discussed this before, but one week from tomorrow Celtic could be in involved in a +£20m penalty kick competition. Between now and then I’d have the players take 100 each. Preparation is everything and there’s no amount of preparation for penalties next week which will be too much.

You have to suspect that it’s too soon for Brendan Rodgers to throw new keeper, Dorus de Vries, into such a critical game, without a proper opportunity to work with his defenders, or be assessed by Stevie Woods.

After the Aberdeen game later this month we have a two week international break, where de Vries will be able to work with the coaching staff for an extended period, but that precedes the group stages of European competition, so I’m not sure when the new keeper will get a first team break.

Now…shouldn’t the political dimension of our opponents be dividing CQN instead of flag waving???

Sadly the Celtic Palestinian peoples Front of Judea don’t even realise that Be’er Shiva have a left wing slant and have a constitution similar to our own – a club which is open and inclusive to all! It’s also interesting that interesting that their manager, Barak Bakhar, refused to do military service because he wouldn’t join an active combat unit. This prevented him from winning international honours.

I do wonder if the GB and their acolytes have the mental capacity, the political ballast, the desire for joint action to make something of the the Hapoel history?

The whole Middle East / Palestine issue is not for the simple minded sloganeers.

Israel as a nation is not some one dimensional organism that can be easily typecast if you have the time and effort to look into its history and it’s changing make up.

They are in a bad place at the moment — they have moved on from their original plucky underdog vibe and they are struggling with being top dog surrounded by the poor, the starving and the oppressed.

With BN they have the prototype DT figure with twice the brains but half the vision.

The results are the same but the future does not look good as the composition of the electorate has been transformed with a very focused immigration strategy and its self generating element.

Become more nationalistic and muscular in your politics.

Attract people who like nationalistic and muscular in their politics.

If anybody progressive gets to the top and wants to talk — shoot them.

Make sure the plebs are scared fartless by having a bogey man tap you can switch on and off at will. Then play your desperate neighbours by yanking their chain now and again and then bombing them to the point of just re-arranging the rubble.

Consequently the GB / StAl’s politics types have a decision to make.

Go for the tried and tested.

    Or do something innovative.

    Could I suggest

You have made the desert / Negev bloom.

What about the Gaza Strip — send seeds not retribution.

    Less hammer and more sickle?

Glesga humour will go far / student politics will not.

The Jews are a funny people / religion — unfortunately what prospered in New York has not travelled too well to the Middle East. I blame the schools.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am strongly opposed to Zionist expansionism, and apartheid in the country formally known as Palestine.

I despair that some Celtic supporters apparently plan to ignore the potential punishments that could be meted out to the club, to display their opposition to Israel’s policy in the region.

Why Celtic Park? Media exposure? This could be achieved by other means. Protest rally, March etc.

If they are looking to attract a wider global audience, then civil disobedience is an avenue. Not enough? Well criminal action then, storm a tv station, or worse. I don’t know…….

    …….. Just don’t damage Celtic.

Was chortling the other day when you turned up the hifi to 11 and went out for the day. I had EXACTLY the same problem a number of years back with a flat I had in Leith. Guy upstairs was a total bellend – drilling at 3am etc. I complained a few times but it had no effect. Got myself a copy of “Pure Bloody Feckin Techno Volume 5”, stuck it in the CD on Repeat and went away for the weekend. Worked a treat – quiet as a mouse after that. Either that or he must’ve moved out….

  16. BMCUW,

Yep Orimulsion ( a fuel that is basically a bitumen/oil and water mix) from the the Orinoco tar fields Venezuela,- similar to the Tar Sands projects in Alberta, but with more readily accessible than those! – has basically been sitting there doing nothing for years. (apart from a short period when a company was set-up to export it back in the mid-late 90’s).

It is fairly readily accessible and was seen as a cheaper alternative to coal/oil with the potential to fuel every power station in the world alone for approximately 100 years!

It is however a very very dirty fuel and with the Sea Empress tanker disaster in South Wales, that had a major impact on how it was going to transported in the future (it was originally being planned to be used as the fuel for the Pembroke Power station – and others – after being successfully trialed at the Ince Power station in NW England) , with double-hulled tankers being a minimum requirement.

However political change in Venezuela, saw the orimulsion being left at home with it no longer being available for export! Billions upon Billions of Dollars being denied to the country in one fell swoop.

Will it ever be used again or the Orinoco field even be extracted, who knows? Could be a source of masssive wealth to Venezuela and Im sure at some point they will have to open it up to bring that wealth in. Hopefully to imporve the lot of the whole population and not just line the pockets of some cabal at the top.

Celtic find themselves in a very good place just now. Season Book sell out, attendances up for comparable games by around 8,000 per game. A sell out tie almost tomorrow. European football gauranteed till end of november.

now my grumble while in the ticket office just now I witnessed a season book holder purchasing his “concession ticket ” for the The Rangers game.

    The price – £49.
