Premiership vote would be convenient resolution

136

Reports suggest the Scottish Premiership could provide Newco with a face-saving de-escalation by holding a vote to mandate a fixed percentage of ticket sales for visiting fans. Celtic were permitted 7,000 fans at Ibrox (in what was known as “the Celtic end”) for decades before the drubbings and celebrations became too much for the home fans. Since then, a tit-for-tat process saw Celtic-Newco games reduced to 700 then zero visiting fans.

I’m really looking forward to a sea of green and white when we face Newco on 30 December, but the lack of an appropriately sized visiting allocation skews the competitive edge unnecessarily – Celtic were reduced to a one goal winning margin at Ibrox last month, well below expected standards.

Newco’s predicament is more onerous, as they needed to relocate their ultras group when Celtic arrived with 7,000 fans, adding irritation to an already irritated population. A vote by the Premiership would be a convenient resolution for all.

  1. Bada a very thought provoking video there.

Having had a few relatives who have had serious mental health issues and are no longer with us, I get that video.

    Thanks for sharing.

BTW, fan led politics and fan led charity are two completely different things.

Not sure I agree. Direct action on food banks at home is an act of political dissent that tells one of the richest countries in the world that they are not prioritising feeding a huge chunk of their population, and community action is filling the need.

Interesting take BW – thank you.

Hope my disagree of your disagree is not semantic.

“Direct action on food banks at home is an act of political dissent”

I hear you but I prefer to think direct action on food banks at home is an act of human compassion …. in the best traditions of our founder.

  5. When I read the leader earlier this afternoon I thought to myself, as you do, the blog will be lucky to get one hundred posts on the topic. At this point it has reached ninety one, and counting but I reckon there will not be too many more before mid-day tomorrow.

New Company, convenient resolutions, all newspeak for the Old Firm and its special “atmosphere”.

How about we play each other twice a season, home and away? That would not eliminate the problem, but it would certainly reduce it.

Amazing: President Biden is working on a plan with other countries that would allow civilians to safely leave Gaza and cross the border into Egypt. This is great news. President Biden is making sure that innocent people don’t die due to the actions of Hamas. That’s leadership.

Looks like the USA is going to do some ethnic cleansing cunningly disguised as a humanitarian gesture on the Gaza Strip.

How fortuitous for them that Hamas attacked.

Will there be a Right to Return. . .. . . . you can bet your bottom dollar that there won’t.

Rangers have finished interviewing managers for the vacancy at Ibrox, according to The 4th Official.

The ((((( >>>reliable Ibrox<<<))))) news outlet reported via Patreon on Wednesday (11 October) that it’s “essentially down to Phillipe Clement and Kevin Muscat” to succeed Michael Beale in the Ibrox hot seat but other managers were spoken to.

It is understood that with the interviews finished, chairman John Bennett and CEO James Bisgrove will make a presentation to the Rangers board “very soon”.

    rangers

Former Monaco and Club Brugge manager Clement is reportedly the favourite at this stage. The Belgian is currently without a job while Aussie boss Muscat is still in charge of Yokohama F Marinos.

    Is Clement the best?

Let’s face it, it’s quite underwhelming to see that these are the final

However, both have more about them than Beale did, who simply got offered the job by his mate Ross Wilson after Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked.

Hiring Clement seems straightforward as he’s currently out of work.

He did well in Belgium with Genk and Brugge but failed miserably at Monaco.

    Rangers

Muscat is doing well in Japan with Yokohama but there’s something about that which seems very lazy.

We’ve had two former Rangers men come in as managers in the last two appointments and between them, they haven’t lasted two years.

Muscat is not only a former player for the Gers but he’s also an Aussie coaching at Yokohama so this just seems like copying Celtic’s homework in some aspects.

Clement may be the best option here but we don’t hold too much hope for either.

Still, we’ll support them all the same until it all goes pear-shaped in a few months’ time.

The reliable ibrox news outlet 'ibrox News' this gave a chuckle

    GB bring atmosphere?

One song that engages the rest of the fans & ALL the rest is for them & their political agenda.

    At what cost?

Just as Uefa how much money Celtic have paid into Uefa coffers because these cretins.

    Cloud 9

    Couldn’t agree more.

Well actually I could, because I’d take it further.

Celtic have been a business since 1893, but 140 years later some clowns are trying to reverse that, WHILE at the same time complaining that the much maligned board are not spending enough of their capitalist cash on massaging the egos of socialist neanderthals who couldn’t successfully operate a jumble sale.

The flag is green NOT FECKING RED.

Celtic FC capitulated to the flag waving red clowns years ago.

Ever since the board have been trying to figure out how the feck the got themselves into such a mess.

Their recent statement spells out the answer.

“How can we have a statement that sounds as if it’s saying all the right things, without ehm…actually saying much of anything?”

The Celtic board are scared to make a mistake so they try to do nothing instead.

Share prices are important but at what price.?

I didn’t buy my shares because I wanted to make money. I bought them because Celtic meant so much to me, to the fabric of my whole life & because I passed that belief in Celtic on to my sons & grandchildren.

My grandson was game day mascot a few years ago on the day we unfurled another league flag. He cherishes that & we still talk about it, but he is less & less engaged with the club.

He doesn’t understand why the club & some of its fans do what they do. He’s been raised to have standards that are not negotiable & he finds himself conflicted.

He’s been selected for a US national team camp in his age group & will be a very good adult player, eligible for Scotland, England or the USA.

    Celtic are losing him.

When political dogma determines the chants & flags at Celtic Park, the club is no longer “open to all”.

That is a sad myth that gets more tarnished every year.

At Seville, Celtic fans were recognized by Uefa & FIFA for their relatively exemplary conduct.

    Relatively?

Most fans were blotto & unable to pose a public order problem as long as they were left to sleep it off.

The lack of Porto fans combativeness helped.

Uefa could apply that more often & avoid clashes.

Give fans free drink until they fall over, problem solved.

Seriously, the cost benefit analysis over the North Curve mob would have to be emotionally weighted to finish on the benefit side.

THEY assume that they speak for Celtic fans.

They do for some but certainly not for all.

They actually believe that they are closer to the soul of the club than anyone else.

That hubris is never challenged & thus grows like a feckin beanstalk.

They despise any Celtic fan who doesn’t share their political views & gawd help you if you’re not left of centre somewhere.

The GB believe that they are more important than the club because they think they are the club.

    They are neither.

They’re just a bunch of wee boys & their controllers who wallow in the power they have at MY club.

And so we return to the board’s dilemma.

How do they assert control for the benefit of the club without alienating the goombas that they’ve been appeasing for years?

Most people are decent folk, but they assume that if the GB can act like Islamist lovers at Cetic Park then it must be ok?

    TO THE CELTIC BOARD

Your job is to lead, protect & nurture the club for posterity. Weak kneed & accommodating platitudes to fans who put THEIR politics before Celtic is most definitely NOT going to accomplish that.

The GB show no respect for the club, other fans or guests to Celtic Park.

They are renegades & cowboys who laugh at the club, other fans & the board.

As much as the GB despise the capitalism of the board, what is their alternative?

Frankly, it is merely their version of the same board, facing the same problems with the same resources.

They ACTUALLY think that a board with Celtic Trust & GB committee members will run the club better..🤣

Within 5 years we’d be banned from Europe & losing fans every week.

There’s been a subtle change of direction at the club recently & credit for that must go to the board.

I hope it continues because it carries the seeds of improved success in Europe.

My politics are unimportant just as the politics of the clubs original benefactors was unimportant. Most of them were businessmen or professional people, almost like arch capitalists.

It matters not as long as everyone buys into the ethos of the clubs supremacy over ALL politics.

Otherwise, we aren’t & never were a club open to all.

    I hate international breaks.
