It’s all politics. Not actual politics, in the strict definition of the word, but clubs’ dealings with the SPFL and SFA is mostly about politically manoeuvring in the direction to win your argument.
Experienced political operators will tell you not to fight the same people on too many points; pick the important areas to win and take a few defeats on the chin. Box the SPFL into a corner by not charging season ticket holders for entry into play-off matches, and you’re onto a sure win. But all SPFL clubs are members of the SFA.
They all like being given their place. If I wanted something important from the SFA, like exemption from the rule prohibiting directors of a liquidated club from subsequently becoming a club director, I’d concentrate on that and ask politely for permission to let season ticket holders into games.
But I realise there are different types of political animal. The consensus political animal is effective in certain times, then there are those who have a self-righteous tone to rules. It’s their way or the highway. To paraphrase Bob Shankly, pure, athletic, Thatcherism. Britain wasn’t ready for Thatcherism 30 years ago. She won in 1979 and lost lots of votes second time around in ’83, but the Labour vote split. The 80s were lean. For some.
Scottish football is in for a period where a self-righteous entity will muster its forces. The media coverage will reflect what we saw in politics in the 80s. The consensus operators must stand firm and unite.
Thanks to all who entered the Magners completion for premium tickets to the Dundee game tomorrow night, the winner will be notified within the next 30 mins, so check your email!

The STV word for Hun is…………….Bleep
Anyone think Ronny, tomorrow, will start with team who finished the game at Tannadice last Sunday?
In my opinion Gary Mackay-Steven should start. Good player, can play on either wing, looks like he enjoys playing for us and has a great record against Dundee.
Hunowie sa martwe!
16 roads , i hope MSMS guys in attendance will be made aware any questions similar to the one asked when the New Balance deal was announced, will not be answered.
……..so neither “news franchise” chooses to clarify where exactly the bad bit was……..but both bleep out “huns”…………..

When will Celtic stand up and call out the SFA and their rulebook as a joke given the behaviour of the The Rangers (trading while insolvent)?!
Why is this blatant discrimination going to be stopped? Its enough to make you turn your back on the game up here. Why do we do nothing?
Embramike the huns are deid.
Great posts.Keep up the good fight.

Dallas – I agree, but here… It’s all oul futile and petty nonsense from the SMSM. They do try their worst to undermine our magnificent football club, but they never succeed for long.

In total agreement with you regarding Jason Denayer.Have discussed this before with friends, Jason I like but he is too small to be top class in EPL in mho, but his pace would make him a stand out as a defensive midfielder.

Broadcasters could revert to Thatcherism and have actors voice the dread words.
Sky sound technicians announce 1 day strike commencing 9 am tomorrow.

Maybe they will get an actors voice to read out the word HUN ,in a Gerry Adams sort of interview.:)))
Disagree about Jason Deneyer’s height, John Terry is an inch taller than him and it hasn’t stopped him being one of the best centre half’s in the greatest league in the world…
Advert for Gale’s Bleepy on STV now.
Seems to be some confusion about young Jason:)))

I don’t think anyone on the blog would have changed their stance or even their vote based on the sometimes passionate but always erudite and lengthy posts we see during the political season.
Better let them express their views on slimy politicians than direct their intelligent attacks against our team, the board, the ticket office, the groundsman or the tea cake supplier.
Celtic boss Deila talks up his relationship with Desmond and Lawwell
RONNY DEILA today insisted there is no wrangling over cash at Celtic as he bids to take the Parkhead side into the group stages of the Champions League.
The Hoops boss is already looking towards the critical summer qualifying games and he has maintained that talks with chief executive Peter Lawwell and majority shareholder Dermot Desmond do not give rise to arguments over what funds are available to him as he seeks to strengthen the squad.
“It doesn’t work like that,” said Deila. “I don’t know what you think about it, but Dermot and Peter want the same things as me. They tell me what we need to go to the Champions League.
“We have dialogue and discussions all the way – and Peter is sometimes on the front foot more than I am.
“It is not like I go and demand things. We are talking about things, what is possible, what is important. And we know the issues we have about salaries and transfer fees.
“There are very clear lines and we try and find the best options for the team and develop it in the right direction.”
And Deila also believes that he has justified his appointment as Neil Lennon’s successor.
Despite a ropey start to his time in the dug-out at Celtic, Deila steadied the team and is set to preside over a double-winning team this season.
The Hoops boss, shortlisted yesterday by the Scottish PFA for Manager of the Year, acknowledged that he was a risky appointment for Celtic last summer, but has insisted that Lawwell has stood firm in his support – even when times were troubled in those early weeks and it looked as though his tenure at the club may have been short-lived.
“If you don’t have support from the people above you then you would feel unsafe all the time,” he said.
“You would never get to your full potential – and that is the same for me. If one of my players felt unsafe they would be afraid to go on the pitch and they won’t develop.
“He [Lawwell] has been a support to me all the time and has backed me. You need that leadership and he has done that in a very good way.
“It is one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Celtic as well. I knew there were experienced leaders who would not take stupid decisions. They can be calm.
“The decision to bring me in was a very high-risk one. But they are experienced, they know what they are looking for and hopefully I have shown them that I am capable of doing what they wanted me to do.”
In the new serialisation of ‘Biggles defies the Swastika’ our gallant hero addresses his brave comrades in arms-
‘Beware of the Bleep in the Sun’.
Earlier today I posted that the SFA have failed to reply to a letter I sent it regarding the conduct of THEIR fans at the league cup semi.
Surprisingly, I suffered the same rubber-earing when in September I wrote to Jim Murphy following the Better Together Hatefest in George Square.
Normally a motor mouth, Jim would rather not say to much about his erstwhile stablemates on that occasion.
Earlier tonight with out enlarging on it, he told that Labour had plans to end the foodbanks.

Our successful strategy of doing nothing has seen the media lamb munchers back the Rangers to the grave , resurrection, and revive to a shockingly poor standard.
Probably too busy laughing , ignore the muppets that want the club to be permanently girning about just about everything
‘GG – Better let them express their views on slimy politicians than direct their intelligent attacks against our team, the board, the ticket office, the groundsman or the tea cake supplier.
Funnily enough, it’s usually the same people who do both….

If Ronny is not wrangling over cash, it begs the question, if not why not?
Could it possibly mean that PL and DD are about to splash the cash like never before?
Answers on a pin head please.
