Race-ism, Rogic logic, governance

When Roy Race’s scriptwriters sat down to decide on their weekly football fantasies they would never bring themselves to write what Jack Aitchison went through yesterday.

A scoring debut.
With his first touch.
As the youngest player ever to play for the club.

This is classic (Roy) Race-ism.  To get to the stage of making your Celtic debut as a 16-year-old striker Jack would have to have eclipsed many older players in the youth structure, so he clearly has something about him, but consider anything he achieves in the next five years as a bonus.

With Kieran Tierney (18) and Ryan Christie (21) also scoring their first goals for the club yesterday, there was an air of optimism that some of the development work we’ve invested in recently is bearing fruit. The most important lesson from yesterday in this respect was Tom Rogic (23).

Tom has been at Celtic for over 3 years, which indicated the time it takes to develop a player. He came through long-term injury during that period but he could easily have dropped off the scene a year ago without much fuss. He now looks every inch the modern creative midfield player. What he did to create the chance for Ryan Christie’s goal yesterday was sublime. If you didn’t see it, go look for it.

It takes time and patience to develop players, but the evidence is mounting that we’re good at it again.

Really pleased the sun shone on Ronny’s last day, in every sense of the word. It was a high to go out on after a lot of rainy days, in every sense of the word. I planned to appraise him, and our strategy, after the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat but decided to leave it to the end of the season after his quick announcement that he was leaving. Will pick up with this in due course.

As I walked away from Celtic Park yesterday and pondered the success or otherwise of Ronny Deila’s reign, the thought occurred to me, maybe it’s too early to tell?

Remarkably, over the weekend, more than 500 of you have contributed to a crowdsource project to publicise issues relating to Resolution 12 in The Guardian newspaper, and a business paper serving Uefa’s territory in Switzerland (all without a mention in the main blog).

We are not served particularly well in Scotland with oversight, accountability and governance. It’s important for our society, not just our game, that those who can articulate this situation do so. Read this article for more information, with a link at the bottom to participate.

I left your application for the Celtic Trust behind the bar.

I got it, I used it later on in the night, as they ran out of paper in the lavy.

I don’t think that was a particularly scientific study there, KevJ.

3rd highest number of ST holders in the UK.

You’re missing out on a whole lot of good times, because of Lawwell?

Its guys like you that attended in the bad times that have earned the right to be there for days like Sunday.

My point is an unorganised protest has been futile to date and will continue to be so.

I have renewed and until I see a better suggestion will continue to do so.

People not renewing based on a fallacy(eg. Celtic not supporting Res 12) have taken leave of their senses.

  4. I know that the burning issue is Res 12.

But, this 5 way agreement thingy, does this contain

a rule that, if it looks like Rangers will be relegated

the leagues will be restructured ?

And, further still, have Celtic signed up to this agreement ?

  5. TD

    Bingo!

Knew you’d come back with loo roll line!

Well given the photo you once posted of undies that looked like they belonged to Father Jack then I can officially pronounce that the Celtic Trust has in its own small way helped to improve your life too!

Hooray – now pass me a cocktail. Molotov preferably!

  6. corkcelt – Liquidation of the Huns? tell that to SFA and BBC SCOTLAND it NEVER happened.. celtic helped wipe it out the history books Should never have been allowed in league never allowed to play in same colours or badge. Celtic have till start odf season to do something.. get rid of DD , PL and other Hun lovers

  7. I’m good Jamesgang, hopefully EmeraldBee will be grand as well. Sounds like he may need a stent or two but these are pretty routine now so I have no doubt he will be in fine fettle for 6 in a row.

The 30,000 empty seats are not a s a result of the Res 12 stuff.

They’re empty because of the, racketeering that is going on inside

the club by, Lawwell, Park and foreign agents who, between them

cook up a poor product to put onto the pitch so that, Lawwell and

    Park’s troosers are lined.

    Can I prove it? No.

    Can I smell it? Yes.

    Waste, waste and more waste.

Players bought that never make it but, the bottom line for Lawwell etc

is, the cut form the deals.

    Sack thum!

  10. Traditionalist88 – as Kev says its not just about res12 (and I remain to be convinced the board will act correctly on that – we have been here before). Celtics silence and collusion in everything that has gone on has left us all supporting a rigged game. Many of us cant put up with that and realise that its all a bit of a pantomime.

I find it pretty remarkable that our board can still think they are doing a gerat job.

No change is coming. Unless we force it.

Its all very sad but was inevitable the moment the huns went into liquidiation.

I dont know if im following this properly or not now as I see it resolution 12 is important but more important is the cheating done with EBTs by Rangers. In my opinion they have not been punished it has simply been swept under the carpet. The Rangers will be in the SPL next season with virtually no debt and many new players and making the claim they are the same team and have won 56 titles now for me as I see it the SFA have done nothing but aid and abet them and the football clubs in Scotland have done next to nothing about there cheating so it appears that cheats win not a good message for a sport to send out. There is nothing in place to stop them or any other club from cheating all though I suspect only the Rangers would go unpunished. So the issue for me is there is not a level playing field in Scottish football and I have said before you wouldnt join a card game

An unorganised protest will ultimately be futile.

Sunday and the preceding games vs Aberdeen and Hearts proved the Celtic support are itching to support a good Celtic side.

You lads who are staying away are not organised.

Therefore, you can’t win with your modus operandi.

NegAnon, there is very likely to be a change of strategy regards the football side AND a clear statement on Res 12 soon. During the summer I’d hope you’d revisit your decision to stay away.

  17. The level 5 helpers are hard at work this morning EH? And most of them brainwashed by others, that this cheating is a new thing? Lol, it’s been going on for over a 100 years ffs, the malcontents and level 5 are shovelling you this sheet by the truck load, to harm CFC the best way, is don’t renew your season ticket, now who was the Fekin rocket scientist that came up with that little gem? I’ll tell you this, as sure as sheet sticks to a goats arse he/she wasent a Celtic Supporter, every Celtic supporter I know is renewing, the ones in here who are not renewing, are not Celtic supporters, that’s my opinion anyway, ” I’m a season ticket holder for 25 years, I’m not renewing” aye right, away an bite my arse .

We had a good offer on the table a few years ago, and rejected it. Then we panicked and took the next offer that came along.

Hopefully we’ve learned our lesson. Of course you wouldn’t bet on it!

If we were guaranteed a good summer I’d be more in favour. We’re not, and a league starting in February or March would be a big risk to take.

I say keep in line with the rest of the football world, start a few weeks earlier definitely but keep the tradition of matches during the festive period etc.

I have met 3 of the 4 res 12 men, indeed this morning Canamalar whose idea Res 12 was to start with defended and agreed with those who like me are saying we will not renew our season tickets, you need to respect others beliefs and principles rather that ad hominem attacks with ridiculous nonsense like… taken leave of their senses

We know Celtic have worked on Res 12 for a long time now so those fears can be dispelled.

If there is a change of strategy in the football side then you can score that off the list too.

Surely you wouldn’t refuse to support Celtic just because Peter Lawwell made strategical errors in the past?

Due process should have seen to the titles, etc. Little we can do about that without shooting a lot of masons. And little point in doing so as they’ll just be replaced by more of the same.
