Race-ism, Rogic logic, governance

When Roy Race’s scriptwriters sat down to decide on their weekly football fantasies they would never bring themselves to write what Jack Aitchison went through yesterday.

A scoring debut.
With his first touch.
As the youngest player ever to play for the club.

This is classic (Roy) Race-ism.  To get to the stage of making your Celtic debut as a 16-year-old striker Jack would have to have eclipsed many older players in the youth structure, so he clearly has something about him, but consider anything he achieves in the next five years as a bonus.

With Kieran Tierney (18) and Ryan Christie (21) also scoring their first goals for the club yesterday, there was an air of optimism that some of the development work we’ve invested in recently is bearing fruit. The most important lesson from yesterday in this respect was Tom Rogic (23).

Tom has been at Celtic for over 3 years, which indicated the time it takes to develop a player. He came through long-term injury during that period but he could easily have dropped off the scene a year ago without much fuss. He now looks every inch the modern creative midfield player. What he did to create the chance for Ryan Christie’s goal yesterday was sublime. If you didn’t see it, go look for it.

It takes time and patience to develop players, but the evidence is mounting that we’re good at it again.

Really pleased the sun shone on Ronny’s last day, in every sense of the word. It was a high to go out on after a lot of rainy days, in every sense of the word. I planned to appraise him, and our strategy, after the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat but decided to leave it to the end of the season after his quick announcement that he was leaving. Will pick up with this in due course.

As I walked away from Celtic Park yesterday and pondered the success or otherwise of Ronny Deila’s reign, the thought occurred to me, maybe it’s too early to tell?

Remarkably, over the weekend, more than 500 of you have contributed to a crowdsource project to publicise issues relating to Resolution 12 in The Guardian newspaper, and a business paper serving Uefa’s territory in Switzerland (all without a mention in the main blog).

We are not served particularly well in Scotland with oversight, accountability and governance. It’s important for our society, not just our game, that those who can articulate this situation do so. Read this article for more information, with a link at the bottom to participate.

A supporter not renewing a ST because of ‘Celtics lack of support’ for Res 12 has taken leave of his senses. The fact Res 12 is where it is proves this withdrawal of support is based on a fallacy.

It was my understanding certain motions had to come from shareholders. But ultimately it doens’t matter.

Celtic will make a statement, in line with the Resolutioners pieces in the Guardian and the Swiss paper, which will be the culmination of a few years work.

For a supporter to suddenly punish Celtic, in 2016, for not supporting Res 12 is laughable.

As I said, I just hope there is no future generation of Celtic supporters also unable to attend because of his decision.

Some good points made this morning and some, well, not so good.

Hopefully Celtic by endorsing the submission of Res 12 to EUFA will be making a strong point.

Re EBTs the problem lies with the erroneous findings of Nimmo Smith and needs to be challenged. However, IMHO, unless other Scottish clubs also demand a review or failing a move to seek a judicial review that seems a long shot.

At the time CFC expressed surprise at Nimmo Smith’s decision which really equates to we think that you are barking mad. Were any of our representatives on SFA bodies to raise the matter would there be a seconder?? Perhaps as a club and as individual supporters we should be soliciting the support.if others.

Making allegations of corrupt transfer dealings without substantive evidence could be construed as defamation but fortunately Peter Lawwell is most unlikely to read those posts.

To renew or not to renew? That is the question and it is a matter of personal choice. What would our forefathers have done ?? HH

Re the LNS Inquiry, the position of Celtic was made clear in a Statement when the CoS overturned the original EBT ruling. Given that the CoS decision is being Appealed via the Supreme Court it was sensible to await the outcome before pursuing further.

However, in light of the Tax Justice Network Report into the SFA, documented evidenced is available which indicates that Campbell Ogilvie could have misled the LNS Inquiry or that crucial documented evidence was not available to the Inquiry. This information could have fundamentally altered the outcome.

I feel strongly that Celtic should, regardless of the Supreme Court ruling, pursue a full new Inquiry as the LNS Inquiry has been proven to be incomplete and potentially subverted. In addition to this, some of the evidence submitted in the original Inquiry, from for example Sandy Bryson, cannot be accepted by Celtic.

I still think we should wait for the Supreme Court ruling and hit them with both barrels if it goes our way. However in the meantime I think we should release a Statement noting the findings of the Independent TJN Report and state clearly that whilst we await the outcome from the Supreme Court we feel a new Inquiry is necessary in any case in light of the new evidence.

That’s the goal of Res 12,mate. To bring the SFA to book and to ensure there is no repeat of their blatant support of cheating.

Due process should have seen to the titles, etc. Little we can do about that without shooting a lot of masons. And little point in doing so as they’ll just be replaced by more of the same.

    ——————————–

Disagree that there is “…little we can do about…” title stripping. Celtic and others must vigorously pursue that IF the Supreme Court rules against Rangers re: EBT usage. That puts this issue front and center again – illegally payed and illegally registered players.

I’m a wee bit concerned that there has been a hint of a change in focus of the target re: Res 12 over the past couple of weeks.

Have saw one or two comments that hint at the SFA being duped by Craig Whyte – they only issued – and did not subsequently review – the licence ONLY because big-bad Craig Whyte lied to them.

Was also a comment (I think from one of the requisitioners, or perhaps WC) that Celtic AND the SFA were both nearly comfortable with the wording that would go to UEFA.

I want Celtic to a lobby for a new Inquiry. The LNS was inadequate and possibly subverted. The scope of the Commision was set out by the likes of Campbell Ogilvie. It was a sham. The new Inquiry needs to be totally independent from the SFA and LNS. New evidence has emerged since the blog you provided was written, via the CoS and TJN Report.

They will have improperly registered players (Dundee United get hammered for 2)

Some here will say – ‘what’s new?’ the old mob always did the same and my grandad still went and why kill Celts chances because of what they do what they’ve akways done etc., etc

The difference now is we have documented proof. In our generation we gained the nous to uncover and reveal the ongoing cheating in the game. Cheating that our fathers could not prove.

We have a responsibility to our fathers and our sons to ensure that they are stopped!

We can all wait one more week for the revelations and changes coming from Resolution 12.?

After all what is another week? When our board has sat on it’s hands and said practically hee haw about the above these last few years.

We have 4 good Celts telling us to hold, hold, hold …just another week!

    Ok

However, at the back of this Celt’s mind is the burning question. Why now all of a sudden is it happening now…. during season ticket renewal?

Do the board realise that even a masive name as manager and transfer budget would still be seen as a ‘squirrel’ by thousands! It’s not an unfair question to ask in the circumstances.

    Thise thiusands want justice now!

7-10 days will not harm Celtic financially and it might force some change. Just getting the horrible notion that if it wasn’t for the 4 main Resolutioners that the sum total of zich would happen!

To renew or not to renew .. That is the question..

A question that doesn’t affect me but for those that it does it’s a personal decision directed by their own hearts not anyone else’s IMO.

Anyhow personally I’m looking forward not backwards.

I’m excited at prospect of a new manager, a clear out and some arrivals.

The clear out I suspect will be the biggest improvement we can make to improve our on field hopes next year.

Hopefully a slimmed down quality squad can deliver the goods.

I’d also hope that the Board have got the message and they signal a change in strategy and stop the factory stock piling of average players hoping to somehow sell them on st a profit. Fair enough 2 or 3 projects a season but not a dozen in midfield alone.

I’d love to see Celtic Park full and bouncing and even better some much missed big European nights.

So I’m interested in red 12 but I’m not defining my support on the basis of it.

Time to look forward. This next league will be competitive, Huns will be there but watch out for Hearts. I don’t expect Aberdeen to be much beyond mid table.

Whoever steps up we should slap them down and send the message that they and the rest of the SPFL are merely warm up games for us.

Im expecting a 20 point margin next season and a decent run in Europe in the next couple of years.
