Race-ism, Rogic logic, governance

When Roy Race’s scriptwriters sat down to decide on their weekly football fantasies they would never bring themselves to write what Jack Aitchison went through yesterday.

A scoring debut.
With his first touch.
As the youngest player ever to play for the club.

This is classic (Roy) Race-ism.  To get to the stage of making your Celtic debut as a 16-year-old striker Jack would have to have eclipsed many older players in the youth structure, so he clearly has something about him, but consider anything he achieves in the next five years as a bonus.

With Kieran Tierney (18) and Ryan Christie (21) also scoring their first goals for the club yesterday, there was an air of optimism that some of the development work we’ve invested in recently is bearing fruit. The most important lesson from yesterday in this respect was Tom Rogic (23).

Tom has been at Celtic for over 3 years, which indicated the time it takes to develop a player. He came through long-term injury during that period but he could easily have dropped off the scene a year ago without much fuss. He now looks every inch the modern creative midfield player. What he did to create the chance for Ryan Christie’s goal yesterday was sublime. If you didn’t see it, go look for it.

It takes time and patience to develop players, but the evidence is mounting that we’re good at it again.

Really pleased the sun shone on Ronny’s last day, in every sense of the word. It was a high to go out on after a lot of rainy days, in every sense of the word. I planned to appraise him, and our strategy, after the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat but decided to leave it to the end of the season after his quick announcement that he was leaving. Will pick up with this in due course.

As I walked away from Celtic Park yesterday and pondered the success or otherwise of Ronny Deila’s reign, the thought occurred to me, maybe it’s too early to tell?

Remarkably, over the weekend, more than 500 of you have contributed to a crowdsource project to publicise issues relating to Resolution 12 in The Guardian newspaper, and a business paper serving Uefa’s territory in Switzerland (all without a mention in the main blog).

We are not served particularly well in Scotland with oversight, accountability and governance. It’s important for our society, not just our game, that those who can articulate this situation do so. Read this article for more information, with a link at the bottom to participate.

    Ad Don in !

Season books after 25 years now cancelled after much deliberation and heartache.

Digesting the independent Offshore Game report just confirms my belief that some sort of stance against the lies and deciet of the SFA and their accomplices is not optional now but a necessity to bring honesty and fairness back to football.

Until that changes I won’t be back.It goes against the grain for me personally to accept the old philosophy of “it is was it is ” and deal with it.I went to every Celts for change meeting and bought my shares to be part of change unfortunately I see no other way of voicing my displeasure with Celtics lack of R12 support other than withdrawing my financial support of the club.

    ================================

    A quite bizarre post.

Res 12 has come this far. Celtic have worked with the resolutioners for years now on it. They initially didnt think it was required. New evidence changed their mind.

A few years later you are refusing to renew a season ticket because of Celtics lack of support for Res 12?!

I hope you not attending doesn’t affect the ability of any of the next generation of Tims to attend matches, that would be the real shame here.

My objection to full summer football is that it moves us out of alignment with the main European leagues.

Realistically we will always be bringing in other nationalities and we would end up fielding a weakened side every other June, and knowing the SFA we would have games scheduled against our closest challengers in that period.

The reduction from 38 to 32 games would mean our players are fresher and fitter and in better shape for mid week CL games, especially in the latter stages when we will be pushing to overcome quarter and semi final opponents. :-))

    ==============

    Totally agree on summer football.

If people are looking for a surefire way to become a league that is completely forgotten about then a season starting in February or March is the way to go.

Get the best of both worlds and do what we can to start the season a few weeks earlier, keeping the festive fixtures but cut out all midweek dates in Jan and Feb

Missed my first end-of-season game in years because I felt like crap, watched the wonderful game enfold and the great celebrations, then woke up at 5.30 on Monday morning with a couple of bands of Marchers doing a tattoo in my chest.

By 6.30 was marvelling at the fantastic work done by our NHS staff in Hairmyers Hospital as I was back in the land of the living. 24 hours later and I’m just waiting for news of when my angiogram will take place today.

But, for you to be allowed into the stadium to support the team

you have to give the hierarchy your money.

    So, I know it’s not a pleasant predicament but…..

you’ll have to make up yer mind.

Do you give hierarchy you money, knowing full well that, if you let

them off the hook by doing so…you’ll pay to put Celtic FC back to

the back of the bus again.

Or, hold back yer season ticket money until, all the findings of Res 12 are laid bare.

Only then, can a clean slate be worked from.

That’s if the slate is cleaned ?

    Hail Hail fella.

  17. If Winning Captains is to be believed a break through on Res 12 is imminent. We have waited years a few more days is not going to hurt. All these guys going on about not renewing etc why not just keep your powder dry for a little bit longer until the smoke clears and we have a better understanding of where both we as Supporters & Celtic as a Club stand in regards to the issue.

Very sad to see long standing Supporters giving up. we have won 5 in a row, oversaw the Liquidation of the Hun, we are in pole position to continue our dominance. Lennoxtown at last seems to be producing a Dividend and yet the talk is of walking away.

I respect everyone’s opinion but God Bless the great men & women who carried on through good times and bad to hand on the Club to this generation & God Bless those who will fight on and hand it on to next.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend!

I renewed mine and Mrs RobinBhoy’s tickets already as we love to go and watch Celtic. My brother and my mate had a meeting with Peter Lawwell regards their concerns and Resolution 12 is not an issue for them anymore as Celtic are supporting it, full stop.

As my mate recently said regards season tickets and I’ll repeat it on her ad nauseum……….

The answer is to punish Celtic and make the Huns stronger.

    Of course it is.

    Boycott season tickets…….everywhere but Ibrox.

    That’ll work.

  20. There is a 99% chance that uefa will throw out Res 12, publicly sighting that the sfa followed their rules and did what they could etc, no way will they impose any sanctions on the sfa, not a hope in hell.

    Just my opinion.

Morning Bhoys well if ARSENAL offer 10 Million for young Tierney and it is turned down we will know that there is a change of strategy or not.I would actually take 10 million and give it to the new manager to give him a 20 million war chest but I am probably in the minority. H.H.

  23. TRADITIONALIST88 on 17TH MAY 2016 9:24 AM

Perhaps, but I’d question whether we’re in a particularly highly regarded league right now.

In terms of profile is it better to be in line with the main European leagues competing for airtime with them and having the problems getting into the CL or have improved prospects of being in the main European competition and playing football at a time when you’re not competing with the ‘big leagues’ for tv coverage?

Recent home matches have proved that Celtic supporters are itching to support a good Celtic team.

    The future is promising.

Any unorganised boycott by a few hundred supporters will ultimately be futile(see KevJungle, boycotting since 2005?) and they will miss a lot more cracking days like Sunday.

Competing with the big leagues is not a massive problem. We have good viewing figures AND are almost always in the top two in Europe when it comes to attendance figures per head of population.

The problem is the paltry TV we settled for,way beneath our value.

Stick to the football calendar as much as possible, but start a few weeks earlier to give us more chance in Europe and a few more rounds in the summer months, but keep the festive/New Year fixtures which are brilliant to have at that time of year.
