Rangers? That wasn’t even a Basket of Assets

891

They can call themselves whatever insolvency practitioners allow them to be called, but even the court assertion, that Charles Green bought a Basket of Assets, not a football club, seems overly optimistic. That lot look more like a Basket of Liabilities than assets.

I told you Joey Barton was a good Celtic man, there to take their money, and self-respect. Their big former Arsenal centre half is four years younger than our big former Arsenal centre half, but good grief! You could forgive him for being short of pace, but acting like an immature simpleton is unforgivable.

Moussa Dembele’s Perfect Hat-trick (one with the head, one with the right, one with the left), was a charm. We watched Henrik give us so much, he deserved to score a hat-trick against Oldco Rangers, but the history book was closed on that one with Harry Hood’s in the League Cup in 43 years ago.

I have witnesses to saying “We’ll have to settle for five instead of seven”, when hearing Leigh Griffiths would miss out today. Dembele (20), put in a performance which defied his inexperience. He looked like the £20m player some think we’ve signed. What’s more, he’ll continue to improve.

Tom Rogic had clearly been identified as our most dangerous creative player. He was hacked throughout, before retiring early in the second half. Scott Brown and Nir Bitton were also on top of their game, controlling the crucial central area.

Both full backs, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney, got assists, as they created width to allow the central players to do their stuff.

Brendan Rodgers will hopefully highlight that the only two attempts on goal we conceded came a moment after we scored, near the end of each half. Teams notoriously lose concentration after scoring.

I’m off to find out who their no. 4 was. I’ve him down for two assists on his own. Liabilities, to a man – the keeper apart, who did well.

  1. Roy Croppie.

    Legend. Thank you. Just brilliant.

    Gerryfaethebrig. Enjoy.

No moaning minnies allowed to say it’s too upbeat. It’s a beautiful song, made into a football song/ chant, enjoy it for what it is. In my opinion sung brilliantly.

    Gordon 64.

I think I understand your emotions. I will steal SOALs phrase and say love to you.

I haven’t had a drink since early May, because of my weird illness, too many histamines in the alcohol that I enjoy. Anyway said to my wife, I think I will go and buy 2 cans of Magners, indeed you will not was the response.

So a big Hail Hail to all as I enjoy another cup of black tea.

I just watched the game again in the quiet evening here in the valley and I agree, I thought Nir Bitton was great today and also Big Mikael Lustig had a very good game. Both guys who have come in for some criticism of late but when push came to shove the shoved it right up the huns:))

Just watched the interview with Warburton, brilliant. The game apparently changed when I guy who hadn’t been booked should have received a second yellow. David Weir was so enraged by this injustice he got himself sent to the stand. Lol

    ———

Maybe Warburton was planning on bringing on Weir?

Yeah Bitton was very calm and assured. You forget what age he is at times.

What you expect from a bunch of numpties that have concrete gardens as the colour grass offends them?

  6. Lustig was great today as were all of the back 4 plus keeper. I don’t think we were particularly great as a team but individually we done our jobs. Armstrong and McGregor did well when they came on. I thought Sviatchenko was imperious.

Bognorbhoy cheers for the good wishes this morning for Miss GFTB, Philbhoy am hoping to buy you a pint or two on the 01/10/16 and BT we ended up in the Priory but I had to leave at 4.30pm for the wee blades birthday tea……..the Priory to me is just a jumped up Commercial :-)

  8. Re todays programme a couple of you have asked. Sevco were referred to as the club from Ibrox or (paraphrase) the Magic Hat’s side. No previous league meetings. No honours listed.

I am very pleased with the programme content, I did not want Celtic to lie to me about the myth and the programme was in effect very clear.

BRTH posted Celtic’s original statement last night and I guess no need to do so again.

Had Celtic been dishonest in the programme I would have asked for a refund of my season ticket money (but not my champions league tickets !)

Oh and no mention of the toxic O** F***. But Celtic made it clear in 2012 about this horrible phrase.

  9. The only way IMO we have any chance against Barca is to go at them, if we sit off them they will pick us off big time, their defence is not what is was a few years back, it’s their weakness, we have the pace and the skill.

Any Spanish team that took anything from them went for it.

I would much rather get beat by attacking them against getting beat by sitting off them.

  10. Gerryfaethebrig.

Thank you for the lovely comments and thoughts. The fact you remembered brings a lot of joy to my heart. I just showed my wife your post, she was very touched.

I hope you have enjoyed the two versions of Grace that Roy Croppie has recently posted.

    Once again Roy, total legend.

If I feel this good on Oct 1st I will turn up.

    Good Evening.

At times today you saw immense discipline from Celtic. In the midst of all the emotion and the hurly burly of the gane there were times when the players slowed things right down, knocked the ball backwards, then sideways and showed no sign of rushing things.

A few weeks ago, Brendan Rodgers asked the crowd to trust the players and to recognise that they knew what they were doing.

I found it slightly frustrating at times as there were moments when there was clear space to exploit on the wings or in behind the centre backs (while they were still on the pitch) and I thought we should have played into those spaces. But no — the players did their own thing.

In the second half we were three quarter paced at times and if you look at our goals ( with the exception of the header ) we almost walked the ball into the net.

None of the shots were screamers or rockets. The ball was played into the net.

Sevco were certainly not the best team we will face all season, but when we had the ball we knew what we were doing with it and we knew where to pass the ball for a goal scoring chance and had players who can slide the ball behind the keeper.

Movement off the ball was good — and all this without really exploiting or wing threat.

It was a very interesting day watching Celtic.

Given the previous expectations over on the other side of Glasgow, if the blue team do not sharpen up their performances against other well organised teams – and they do exist in the SPFL — then there will be calls for the manager to go.

But watching Celtic is very interesting these days. There is science in them there boots!

  13. Wow Barca are beaten …..

    Tuesday could be interesting….

    Smiley thing

    Braw.

  14. Watching Barca tonight they badly missed Alba and Alves (now gone). Matteui and mascherano are weak at centre half and lack pace. Having said that it will still be a colossal ask to go there and get anything.

  15. Lol lol lol lol just seen Lustig after the second goal running up the pitch with a beachball on his head

    Ah good times

  16. JNP Ktf amigo. I am as elated as every good Tim is tonight however I must temper it with my disgust at our custodians lack of cojones in not calling out the big lie. Anyway that is now over and done with and the big lie is now fact in our history books. And we all move on. Hh

  17. Gerryfaethebrig.

I hope little miss GFTB had a brilliant day, as you say family first always.

Tell her to post again son, as her posts are better than her Dads. :-))))

  18. Mikael Lustig was brilliant again today, for me he’s our best player.A wee tenner on Dembele hat trick at 33/1…The Moussa is on fire…

Yeah Bitton was very calm and assured. You forget what age he is at times.

Considering he got booked quite early on it was a very mature performance from a defensive mid. Especially when you compare it to the experienced krankjaer who wasn’t anything more than a liability

  20. the reason the media in particular the BBC and Clyde use O** F*** all the time is to drive a wedge between Celtic and the rest of Scottish football. Why ? Because on the conclusion of the tax case all titles and trophies need to be stripped but harder to get buy in if it is seen as an O** F*** thing.

Complain all the time. I emailed Reuters about the 54 times champions being back. Said i was surprised at how badly misinformed they were as well as their poor understanding of company and insolvency law.
