  1. Good Morning CQN

The curse of positive optimism yesterday, Sevco is in poor form, trip back from Armenia, Covid affected the squad

We have Ange ball, battered 6 past Dundee and St Mirren, qualified for Europa Lge group

Ange inherited a mess of a football dept, best described as a bomb crater that was criminally ignored and remained an eyesore for far too long at the club, time was and still is the enemy, restoring a culture of discipline, application and a playing style with what he was given takes time, having no structure at the club (No DOF, Recruitment management, etc) still leaves us with haphazard transfer management, Ange knows as all shrewd football people looking at Celtic next 48 hours will be vital to assist Ange to fill in the crater, we need to pull out all the stops with transfer business both outs as well as ins, sadly I have no faith in whomever we have doing the deals at Celtic.

New club Sevco first SPFL title was built on defence, a phenomenal defensive record last season saw them take the title by a whopping 25 points, it was no surprise that it continued to be the basis of the Sevco win yesterday an impressive defensive display including the goalkeeper, both full-backs nullifying Celtics wide men, their dominance of physicality not just defensively but especially at set-pieces are questions Ange needs to address by coaching and incoming transfers

I like a strong spine for a team if it’s achievable, then add the sparkle of invention and skill, Ange needs to find that balance, Brian Clough used the analogy of house building, a house without strong foundations will eventually collapse, Callum Mcgregor is the SPFL top midfielder without question he has it all, does Callum, he is IMO wasted as a DM the form and goals under Rodgers are still there, Kyogo fed by McGregor and vice versa would be a potent weapon, of course filling the gap defensively in midfield ? who, McCarthy 10 years ago yes, however, McCarthy has a lot to do to convince, I hope he proves all the doubters wrong including me, transfer window please supply a new CDM, lastly and most importantly the base of the spine of the team defensively, we are physically weak lacking pace and height in the C/B position, in particular, Hart is an improvement and his experience and confidence have already shown improvement, a new commanding C/B would be most welcome

If nothing else it is exciting being on the Ange roller coaster whether Ange will make it a successful trophy winning season time will tell, if Celtic back Ange, then I will back Ange to deliver

    enjoy your day

    aff oot

  2. During the game I thought the back four and keeper played pretty well. I’ve seen a number of people criticise Starfelt for the goal. He actually played well yesterday and is not to blame for the goal. We had nine players in the box at the corner v Sevco’s six. It looks like Welsh was the guy who should have picked him up but he ended up being drawn back. Bottom line is that we have enough bodies in there to deal with it but never did. As a team we are defending far better than last year. There are two main concerns for me, we lack height and ability in the air, especially given the amount of time the ball is in the air in Scotland. We also lack pace at the back, although Juranovic looks OK in this respect. Ralston, Welsh, Starfelt ,Taylor and Julien, none of them are particularly quick. Despite the result, I’m feeling far more confident about winning the league this year. I hope we bring in another defender, at least.

  3. I think Eddie is very much a confidence player and I didn’t expect much from him after that very bad miss. His inability to skin an isolated and backtracking Helander only confirmed what sort of afternoon he was going to have.

I’m not entirely convinced Eddie will leave as by all accounts he’s quite a ridiculous salary expectation.

If he stays he has to play second fiddle to Kyogo, possibly third fiddle if our incoming Greek striker offers us more.

Eddie is now very much a sub for us, a helluva fall for the lad but that’s where his football for the last 12 months has got him.

Barkas, Griff, Eddie and Ajeti should in one form or another, be moved in the next two days.

There’s little point keeping Ajeti when the manager clearly doesn’t rate him.

  4. The hun will have a template for the rest of the games against us this season after yesterday = don’t do much, push the attackers wide, set pieces will come

  5. Celtic have been criminally slow getting players in and can’t see much changing in next 48 hours.

The board are inept and need cleaned out ; McKay is anonymous and even Ange called him out on the lack of signings. They have the ST money , EL money and their short sightedness will see them miss out on the CL money which is up for grabs.

If they wanted to help Ange they would have done it by now. They want to do everything on the cheap and the last decade they have been accustomed to the Lawwell factor —- take care of no 1.

They will spend the bulk of their time trying to shift players and may manage a loan signing and herald it as a success. That is the limit of their capability , a tired failed board. It will leave Ange without a CB, LB , DCM which is criminal for a club like Celtic even with its diminishing stature.

Ange gone by Christmas is my bet all due to lack of support from Bankier, McKay and Lawwell.

Thats a bit grim amigo!……..don’t despair yet, yesterday was a blip.

  7. lets all do the huddle on

Celtic have been criminally slow getting players in and can’t see much changing in next 48 hours.

this hasnt aged well in the last 8 minutes

    😝

  8. LUCKY CODY on 30TH AUGUST 2021 8:52 AM

🤣😂 press and media, sevco, would love us to give up now, in August and Ange to leave.

Which is why so many of you are posting about it….thing is it sounds more like a wish than a prediction….

Sevco are in a right mess, there’s the story.

  9. Funny thing. Don’t feela s bad this morning as I thought I would…………..

We’ve got a lot better in a ridiculously short space of time.

Whoever brought Big AP in deserves thanks.

A draw yesterday would have been just about right.

There’s a real palpable sense of relief from hundom………the bloo tinted boorishness on the stands and in the meeja is just aboooot holdin’. But I suspect the huns know theres a real challenge this season.

I hope we more than bolster the areas that those who know the game – know we need sorting……..

I’d guess the huns wont shift much and if they do they’ll get small beer in terms of actual monies in……

Our issue needs to resolve the fact that they are still “paying” enough money to enough old capable stagers to beat everyone else in the League and on yesterdays evidence us as well……….

Time for some sharp minds to come together.

The Team deserves it and so do The Support.

    HH

  10. scroll past bhoys – I’m still trying to digest yesterday-I wonder what DT’s frame of mind was with the odd attempt to catch the goalie out – did he question whether a curler into the box for a header was not a possibility for us?

  11. Let’s all do the huddle.

The defence has been a joke since the start of the season and we had 2 youth players in one of whom lost his man for their goal. Our defence is lightweight like much of the team and when the parks deteriorate our football on the deck will have no impact. We will achieve nothing with that defence which we have known was an issue for 12 months.

So if we have sorted our defence in the last 8 minutes wonderful ; if we have loaned a lightweight Portuguese winger to join the rest of the lightweights who will disappear when the going gets tough like Turnbull, Christie and Eddie then great. In reality in 8 months time we will still be staying the defence is a joke and ensured we end the season empty handed. The turkeys on the board should be driving change ; they are happy with the status quo and the liquid lunches.

    Our mismanaged decline continues unabated.

To me , DT’s woeful effort almost looked like a mis hit cross .

  13. Sevco are in a right mess, there’s the story

    —-

Sevco will gain over 90 points this season. We need to better that. We’ve lost two from four and need to start playing well in hostile away grounds.

Not panicking but I’m not going to put down Sevco either – they’ve got our number at the minute.

It’s up to Ange to turn this fixture around but he needs more players. Hopefully we’ve a much stronger squad the next time we play them.

  14. Disappointing result and a number of disappointing individual performances. However, there is comfort in the fact that this Celtic team will improve, the Govan Superstars? They aren’t going to improve any – they have peaked.

Celtic’s improvement is a work in progress and it is still very early days. It will take longer than 2 months to recover from the mismanagement of the last 2 years. The speed of that recovery is now down to how many quality additions to the squad the men that sign the cheques can get in to support Ange Postecoglou and the players over the next two days. Failure to get adequate signings will hamper the progress meaning that the recovery could be a 2 season job.

    Over to you Dom…

  15. If Taylor did like that Tweet, get him tae… i don’t want open hun supporters playing for Celtic, chase him

  16. Turnbull has loads of potential, and is different to what we have in MF,but he needs to get in the gym and get a pair of shoulders on him,too lightweight when it gets physical

  17. JINKYREDSTAR on 30TH AUGUST 2021 9:52 AM

Bada – who is G Mac?

    ……………………………………………………

It’s either that “Irish” Gowfer with the funny accent…….. ;o

or it’s the new Greek golascorer we’ve signed Gioumakis??

    ..I hope it’s the Goalscorer!

    :)

  18. Taylor and that tweet

He’s never been my first choice left back. I don’t think he’s good enough

I will say however, when he’s in the team he always looks to me as though he’s giving 100%

  19. !!Bada Bing!!

To be fair, I think Taylor’s Instagram media faux pas rates very low on the scale of social media howlers…

  20. lets all do the huddle on

So if we have sorted our defence in the last 8 minutes wonderful

    —-

    nope

    fraid that hasnt happened

  21. RC

    It was a joke.

There had been no posts for an hour and I posted the last hours read back had been poor.

Unfortunately JACKIEMAC posted just before me so the joke collapsed.

    Have a fun day.

  22. Ah the Greek – yep G Mac is easier😀

Now have we broken the mould? Is he more than 5ft 4 tall?

  23. I think we struggled more than Angers did after our midweek games. Turnbull and Rogic will struggle with the high press intensity against better quality teams when they have to chase back (energy/stamina).

Hopefully Juranovic at left back is only temporary and we sign a left back .

Ralston has impressed me , i wonder if he could be a defensive midfielder ?

Still disappointed we couldn’t produce a winning performance against a weakened poor manky mob .

I thought we created better chances last year even after big Bitton getting sent off and losing to an own goal

If Ange gets the players in who plays his system/way then the signs are good .

Early days for Big Ange ,fingers crossed .

  24. Now have we broken the mould? Is he more than 5ft 4 tall?

wow ,can he jump higher than his height?

  25. With regards lightweights.

The hun signed Wright from Aberdeen in January and the first thing he was told to do was get in the gym and put weight on.

He put on 10lbs in 3 months.

He should have taken Turnbull, Christie and Johnston with him.

We were bullied all over the park yesterday
