  1. The Ange project continues and seems to be ahead of schedule. Some good signs and great signings.

However, the same sense of delusional confidence is creeping in on this site.

I read earlier how we were likely to steamroller every Scottish team this season. In 4 games, we have lost to 2 of them.

We all know the centre of our defence is weak. Great to see youth given a chance, though we need some strength and experience in there.

    Back the manager

  2. I see Spurs & Arsenal have joined the ranks of potential Edouard suitors, allegedly watching the situation closely.

To us supporters it makes a massive amount of sense to beef up the spine of our team, a Boboesque in stature centre back, a replacement for broony in midfield & another battering ram up top to cover for Giakoumakis. We need to front load our squad & see who steps up as the season progresses, we can always shift any excess next summer if required but it would be criminal if Ange is left short when we have the money.

We don’t need G Mac the golfer , we’ve already got Ryan Christie who can hit a high wedge shot over the bar;-)))

  4. well said uncle jimmy – I’ve shamelessly let myself get carried away – yesterday was a wake up call (am I allowed to say I don’t think we’ll win the league and I’m ok with that considering how much in free fall we were last season).

  5. PHILBHOY

I think Kyogo will play in a Lubo role just behind or in & around the striker.

  6. Welcome to the long hard slog …

This season is now about perspiration not inspiration.

Yesterday’s game told us nothing apart from the effort the TFOD2.1 put into their training sessions to manufacture contact / buy free kicks — it is not football but it can be effective.

We are well off the pace regarding physicality — something we need to work on morning / noon / night.

AZ got in about us with embarrassing ease — we looked spooked from the off.

TFOD2.1 took a bit of time to work us out but they eventually managed it all too easily.

On both occasions the influence of the MIB was key.

In one he allowed Cloggy cloggers to clog.

In the other he refused to hand out yellow cards to them and bought every manufactured contact on offer.

    Consequently lots to work on.

We need to add a physical side to our game — IS can mis-time tackles with the best of them so needs more game time plus JMcC needs on the park as the defensive pivot so that CMcG can move further forward and improve his game.

We also need to get the youths up to speed — we are going to need them.

Also what has happened to the two SW projects — too old for the Colts and bench warmers for the 1st team …

    Not good.

Finally the hype surrounding AR and SW will now recede.

Both are 2 years away from being straight in / first picks.

Both have potential but both need work and plenty of it.

If we play them this season then the squad is not good enough.

Looking forward to seeing LS get some time on the park.

Playing other sports — even if it includes aerial hockey — means he is carrying some muscle.

We are currently Wimpy Kid FC full of wishbone second rows and woose head props.

Very Lenzie if we are still working the egg chasing analogy.

  7. GALLAGHER

    That could be interesting.

Kyogo looks like a proper footballer so why not?

I hope the transfer window fairy can bring us a Charlie Gallagher type crosser of the ball and a Billy McNeill type header of the ball . That would probably have won us yesterday’s game and many more to come .

As it is we never look like scoring from corners , while we always look vulnerable to losing goals from corners .

It’s not as if we have just suddenly discovered that .

  9. GlenD……..

he does seem to be lookin’ for a new “club”………..

  10. Various suits will now earn their money.

We desperately need new blood into the team.

The squad still reeks of NL / PL mis-management

Our big take-away from yesterday was how quickly too many started playing for themselves and not for the team.

We had made progress but when the pressure built up quite a few worked to their own agenda and not tat of the team — looking at you RC / looking at you DT / looking at you CMcG.

    Needs to be fixed.

  11. Glen D- Juranovic can cross a ball from the right hand side, but does Ralston deserve to be dropped?

  12. BB @ 10.44

If we want to win the SPL then yes.

If we have better available then AR deserves to be dropped.

He is still as raw as sushi but he is improving fast.

Nowhere near our regular RB yet.

  13. My YT stream just played the McAllister post-match presser – he came across as reasonable and quietly proud.

One thing he said leapt out “Big games, finals and World Cups are usually settled by set pieces, so we really work on that side…” (something of that ilk)

Thought it was interesting – and worthy of sharing – that THEMS really work at an area they know has been our primary weakness for a few years now.

Great news that we signed a striker to keep Kyogo away from CF and a loan winger.

Hate the days after they win, btw.

  14. We did not get outplayed or out fought yesterday, we go out jumped and a little outfoxed. Their forward players backed into our backline and fell about like flying picking up cheap freekicks, ours did not. They made a dead ball matter, we didn’t. We had more clear cut chances and blew them.

After all the stuff about covid they missed a keeper and leftback. Contrast those losses against celtic’s situation going into that game. Playing them at the victorian toilet, no away fans, hostile environment

with multiple players making their debuts to the fixture.

    Started with

    Hart making debut

Ralston starting but he is second choice, despite being ok

Jullian missing (our best centreback in both boxes)

    Starfelt making debut

Leftback injuried and covered by our new rightback making debut

Right wing James forrest injuried so played by a 19 year old debutant instead.

    Kayago making debut in fixture

A half arsed forward specialising in doing nothing.

Not being able to field McCarthy who would offer the power and legs in the middle.

All things considered celtic were least well prepared and optimism must remain.

If we get the forward and winger in today we should focus on a centreback and disciplined centre midfielder who will add running power

!!BADA BING!! on 30TH AUGUST 2021 10:44 AM

I know what you mean . Ralston does not deserve to be dropped but Ange is paid to make tough decisions like this one . It’s all about the team .

  16. We are also an injury to Joe Hart away from being back to Barkas or Bain so I’d like to see one of them gone & a better keeper brought in who can challenge JH for the jersey.

We have AR & JJ for RB & GT, AM & Liam Scales for LB. Starfelt or Welsh for CB but also Scales at left CB with Bitton as back up so an accomplished experienced CB in the BOBO,JOOS, VARGA mould would be wise.

I’m worried we’re going with UROGHIDE instead which on the face of it would be a mistake imo.

I hope Dom Mackay knows how to swoop.

  17. Go tell the Spartim on

BR mentioned it way back when he started with us, it’s players mindsets that need to change, in Europe and other big games they tend to hide or tippy tappy about at the back, from what I’ve heard and read AP’s focus is primarily on that. The players need to be brave and confident on the ball and in what they are doing, too often yesterday they weren’t. Granted we are very much at the start of our development and don’t have the squad to change things up, with McCarthy unavailable we went with our trusted midfield and only one of the turned up.

We desperately need a really good CB and a fit McCarthy type player for midfield it would make the world of difference, relying on Julien being fit all the time is folly, unless they’ve fitted him with bionic legs, we might get away with it in some domestic games but surely we’ve got to aim higher than that.

Players need to view all teams like they viewed Dundee and St Mirren. AZ are still the best team we’ve faced this season and let’s be honest their goals where gifts and not earned (if they had a CF it might have been different but they don’t)

  18. I don’t see us signing any defenders now.

Scales, a big lad, can play left and centre back and Julienne will be fit in a couple of months.

McCarthy is our midfield enforcer if he ever gets fit.

Glen D- Juranovic can cross a ball from the right hand side, but does Ralston deserve to be dropped?

Yes, Ange likes his fullbacks to get into wider areas to feed the ball into the forward 3 who can occupy the width of the box or head into the box for delivery. Ralston for all the good defensive work is limited in an attacking sense which has massive implications for how well we can overload the box, attacking areas. Our wingers/ inside forwards will be far more effective with positive overlapping runners who can deliver.

May seem harsh but that’s how I see it. Also taylor does not have the pace or delivery at the other side either. If scales is not the answer we need someone who is.

  20. said yesterday that expierienced Swedish internationalist starfelt was suckered into giving away needless free kicks when thems backed in , throwing his arms around them , naive to say the least.

A group of guys on a bus singing racist chants are condemned and action taken. A larger group walk through a city chanting racist bile and appear to be escorted by police and nothing is done. How is this allowed to happen. Shameful.

  22. I think it’s fair to say we have some class players, mid to front. While we do have some improvement at the back, we lack a truly class player in the back four. That said, I liked the first look of Juranovic, even playing on the left. Would love it if the boy Scales turns out to be a good yin. I still think (hope) that we’ll see another defensive addition.

  23. ST STIVS

I posted last night that the police were not escorting them, they were marching with them.

    Hunsaswell.

  24. Apparently Police Scotland “have been made aware” of the racist singing by a crowd on their way to Ibrox.

    And what?

If they won’t do anything when they actually witness it first hand, are we supposed to be comforted now that they’ve been made aware?

  25. is there no a big no nonsence hard as nails centre half playing for a team in the south of eng. that we could get.

  26. Apparently Police Scotland “have been made aware” of the racist singing by a crowd on their way to Ibrox.

who made them aware ,was it them escorting and marching beside them or just because someone posted it on line.
