The Guardian did an excellent piece on Wednesday on how referees in various European territories would view the penalty box wrestling of the Juventus players. In short, there is a variance in how these offences are punished. Who knew?
Juventus knew. I hear they watched four videos of referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco ahead of the Celtic game.
You have to admire their thoroughness. They had a plan to combat Celtic and needed to know if the referee would let them away with it. Gone are the days when someone at Juve would simply pick up the phone and ‘ask’. The danger from Celtic was known, illegal holding would nullify this danger and watching a few videos established what players would get away with.
It’s no longer sufficient to scout your opponents, if you want an edge in this game, scout the referee too.
Every day’s a school day.
I hear from a good contact that a journalist who recently departed the media for a job in the lower leagues once wanted to be a bit of a Jungle Jim. Apparently he was keen to ditch his industry for a job at Celtic back in the 90s. What an escape!
On Friday 1 March the Lisbon Lions will be at the Kerrydale Suite providing commentary and answering questions on their magnificent European Cup final win in 1967. This has never happened in 46 years since that game, to say it is a unique opportunity fails to tell the whole story.
The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

They don’t speak for me. That’s why I don’t give them any of my
hard-earned money by way of a SB, although…I do attend here and there.

You can’t even boycott with principle, you hapless tit.
the bbc and all that
last week was flicking thru teletext for hun score – think i might even have been watchin a bit of the rugby (no idea why)
under scottish premier league, but at least the scores came up division after division in right order (it was 0-0)
at full-time the third division scores came directly after the spl scores – still under scottish premier league – but before the first and second score
now i can see why espn want them on the telly, why their 3rd division games get the same exposure as celtics in the press etc etc
but the teletext stuff took the biscuit………
Timsinohio , based in coventry during the week – only 20 miles from Birmingham .

There really is no excuse for a digital television programme to use ‘still’ photographs in general, let alone the one they managed to find.
They really are a ‘lazy’ lot, and the rule is no live pictures of Celtic in the Champions League, yet they have to cover the game no matter how grudgingly.
BBC’s best coverage is also a still photograph of Tony Watt scoring against Barcelona – really I ask you?

Question 1….
Michael Fagan visited which monarch’s living quarters?
Ban BBC Scotland, Celtic.
We don’t need them.
They may need us, but should we care?
Revel Bhoys, revel in the fact that our success is choking the craw off of so many hurtin’ huns..
That’s as PC as I can be!!
Would that be monarch of the glen at glenbogle castle

I’m afraid we have a – never the twain shall meet – scenario.
I see it one way, due to the evidence I have. I stand by it.
You disagree. Fair enough.
Danny McGrain asserted in his book that – he thought he was
overlooked for a coaching job, possibly for religious reasons.
Danny’s words not mine. And I’m sorry but I don’t have the book at
hand. I wouldn’t just make something like that up.
Murdo asking for more money ? He did.
Don’t you ask for the going rate in your job ?
The season before Celtic’s Centenary year..Murdo’s last…he was
promised by the bored/board that a new deal would be put his way
with a Testimonial guaranteed. Murdo was looking forward to his 10th year as a Celt.
Then…with weeks of the season left…the bored/board informed Murdo
that the new deal and Testimonial was to be withdrawn ? That…was awffy
nice of them eh ? You have to remember…this is the same bored/board
who told then manager David Hay that – if he wanted to buy CH Joe McGlauglan
and Steve Clarke then, he would have to do so out of his own pocket !!!
I believe Murdo. And, he was quite right to make sure he wasn’t bitten twice.

Mastermind question:
Which Celtic forward was a well repected ornithologist?
Macca.
Call_of_Juarez
Are you – by any chance – related to Benito Juarez, the Mexican revolutionary? If so, did you know that Mussolini was named after your famous uncle?
You are correct about young James – a boy with all the potential in the world. But he doesn’t get involved nearly as much as he should. Sometimes it looks like he’s observing strict demarcation lines viz. I’ll do my bit and if others do theirs we just might win.

I think Celtic decided to make a token example of Hugh Keevans on the basis that he is someone that has made a good living out of his particular brand of anti Celtic diatribe, and extensive despondency.
An attempted blanket ban on the BBC would be Sevconian, and like them doomed to failure,
The alternative of educating them, should be the Celtic mantra.
Time to go for the fish and chips with a nice mug of sweet tea and thick crusty buttered bread. Magic.
Three points again to-morrow HOOPS.
My young brother flew in today for a wee visit, and we’ve spent the entire afternoon playing Skyrim and talking Celtic.
Brilliant day.
HH!
Ekbhoy and Sannabhoy. Thanks lads. I’ll see one of you at least. Pints will prevent me from moving my wheels from the hotel parking lot.
Awe Naw. How did your meeting go?
Mastermind on now.
Mastermind time.
Hope our bhoy does well.

You seem to be proving your own point there.
Was I being a tough guy? I though I was responding in kind to your post. You seem to randomly insult a whole variety of people you don’t know.

I disagree.
I say they don’t have the balls.
The balls that they somehow discovered when the MSM
blamed 4 fans for causing a- riot in Dundee ?
The bored/board became – Judge/Jury/ executioners without hearing
their own fans version of events ?
Kev
Danny was not “overlooked” for a coaching position. He was freed as a player to pursue his coaching and managerial career elsewhere. Bobby Lennox and Jinky were not “overlooked” either. The coaching set up is a team managed by the Manager of Celtic. He gets to select his team. Being a great player is no qualification for coaching.
I see we are now reduced to Danny saying it was “possibly” due to religious reasons but, since you are (and never were) not going to source the dubious quote, you will go on believing your myth.
I have no problem in agreeing that the board could be capriciously frugal at times but they also saw managers waste money on the likes of Hayes, Cascarino, Slater et al so it is sometimes good that they save us from a reckless manager splashing cash in a panic.
I do agree that Davie Hay was let down as a manager but Murdo was going to leave and was looking for a cover excuse.

Danny McGrain?
I have Danny’s biography in front of me now.
In February 1986 Davie Hay decided that he no longer wanted Frank Connor as his assistant, and a short time later he told Danny that he wanted him to be his new no2 and said that he would bring it up at the next board meeting.
Nothing came of it- for whatever reason.
Danny never believed that he was overlooked because of his religion – it was other people who suggested this to him.
In his own biography -‘The Quiet Assassin’ – Davie Hay makes no mention of this episode.
HH!!
KevJ-Were you annoyed when they said a guy was answering questions on The Red Army, wasnt about Man Utd?
