Respect deserved

892

We’ve seen a few difficult games against Hamilton Accies in recent years, including what proved to be a costly draw after being denied a late winner at New Douglas Park, but we’ve never met them in this form.

Hamilton have the longest unbeaten run in Scotland.  They lost their opening league game of the season, at home to Inverness, but have won seven and drawn two of their subsequent nine games.  Their 0-4 win away to Motherwell last week was a display of sharp, organised football – and remember, Motherwell took at point at Celtic Park the previous weekend.

Alex Neil will have no intentions of leaving pointless tomorrow.  This is the game he and his players will have been waiting for since the fixtures were announced four months ago.  Their four SPLF away games: wins at St Mirren, Partick and Motherwell, and a draw at Tannadice, has been preparation for Celtic Park.

If Celtic have a Europa League hangover, Accies will boss them.  Forget the lowly status of the club, respect is needed if we are the get the desired result and performance required.

I’m running the Great Scottish Run in aid of Celtic Foundation tomorrow morning, which presents a, erm, personal hygiene challenge for the game.  It’ll be a full can of deodorant day.  If you have a £1 or two for the fundraising, you can help here.

Hamilton, sorry for my late reply.

I hope your ruby was good. The orange illegitimate bit would have been very apt.

Jude, I read on the club site, josh scored in the under seventeen seven nil win over the spiders in the Glasgow cup today. Congratulations.

I’m continuing my letter campaign (may be futile) to MSP’s, Celtic and the police to show the idiocy and unfairness of the Bill. James Kelly MSP has been very good but I would urge anyone who has recently joined the SNP (I couldn’t due to this bill) to lobby and pressure from within. This is affecting the life chances of our young people.

Celtic supporters groups have announced a pre-game food bank collection drive at the club.

The drive for donations will take place before Celtic’s Scottish Premiership home clash with Inverness CT on November 1.

All donations received will go to the Trussell Trust’s Glasgow NE foodbank.

The game kicks off at 3pm, so there is plenty time to find one of the five collection points around the ground.

Items they are specifically asking for include sugar, tinned fish, fruit, meat, baby food and toiletries.

Previous efforts have raised hundreds of pounds worth of food and cash donations.

Celtic supporter Declan McGuinness recently asked for foodbank donations in lieu of presents for his 21st birthday and will appear at half-time during Celtic’s match with Dinamo Zagreb.

The move comes after £50,000 worth of food was donated at George Square over the last fortnight following an impromptu appeal by father and son team Andrew and Darren Carnegie.

Raise a wee glass tonight to St John Doyle, who passed away one year today. A true CQN gent, who is sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all his family and friends.

I hope you are resting well with the angels, George

    I agree to a point.

By the law of averages, due to having a much bigger support than the others, Celtic fans are treated shockingly, but fans from smaller supported clubs are taking their fair share of shite as well, as my nephew can testify to.

It seems as with everything else in scoddish footy, one club seem to be immune to anything, their fans can basicly do as they please.

maybes the good people of scotland missed the boat a couple of weeks ago, they had the future in their hands, they blew it, it will be more of the same, or worse, and they will have nobody to blame but themself’s.

You are correct, it is a horrible affliction. Comes on with no warning. Felt great last night, wakened up this morning and as soon as I moved, agony. Been the same all day. It does tend to go as quick as it comes on, but not, unfortunately in 24 hrs. Praying, but not holding my breath. Done one or two thing today, but not nearly what I usually do. Pain too great. :-)
