Rest Brown, Tierney and others for Tynecastle, Ben Nevis Huddle

471

Sunday’s game at Tynecastle is a bit of a dead rubber for both Hearts and Celtic.  The home team cannot finish higher or lower than sixth place, while the Champions will be rested after a few days in Tenerife.

I know you want to rattle a few goals past Hearts; make up for the defeat there earlier in the season and, well, because they are Hearts, but this should not be a priority.  We are two weeks away from a Scottish Cup Final and the opportunity to become the first team in Scottish history to win back-to-back trebles.

Neither Motherwell nor St Johnstone have much to play for in their game this weekend, but you can be sure Motherwell will have an eye on the Cup Final.  They will rest players and allow strains to recover.  We must do the same.

I would rest the captain, Ajer, Boyata, Tierney and Forrest.  Set the priority right and be ready for Hampden.

Celtic FC Foundation, Ben Nevis Huddle

After a three year gap, the Celtic fans will be back on Ben Nevis on mass on 30 June, to raise funds for the Foundation.  This is a rare opportunity for those of us unfamiliar with mountains to ascend Britain’s tallest in the company of supportive Celtic fans.

Participants are asked to raise (only) £130 for the Foundation.  It is a great opportunity, see here for more details and to sign up this weekend.

A Writ here in Scotland can take several forms but most commonly the term refers to a Court-issued document telling you that you are to be involved in a legal process, and what you must do.

I am guessing here but if Rangers or someone there has been served a Writ for a sum of money, the allegations of how much, what it’s for and why it has to be paid or repaid would normally be contained in that Writ plus instructions on what the recipient has to do next, eg pay up, or respond within a period of time, usually pretty short, to submit reasons as to why they think it’s not repayable.

Then lawyers swop letters for a while and an out-of-Court settlement is reached, or the matter goes to a hearing. Followed usually by more hearings. Then multiple appeals – we all know by now what The Lying King is like.

I wonder what the Writ is for…?

Gosfield never married. He was 5’2″ and weighed over 200 pounds and had once told TV writer Bert Resnik that he was “too ugly to get married”. In 1957, he received the “TV’s Bachelor of the Year” Award by the Bachelor and Bachelorettes Society of America.

    Death

On October 14, 1964, Gosfield was in a play at New York Theatre, when he kept losing his balance and repeatedly falling asleep. He was diagnosed as having critical hypertension, and prescribed seven different medications, which he was told to take for the rest of his life. Three days later, he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to New York Hospital, where he was reportedly not breathing, and underwent CPR. His condition improved, and as a result, Arnold Stang told him that Hanna-Barbera was making a second series of the show, and that his role was waiting for him when he recovered. However, two hours after Stang left, Gosfield suffered a second heart attack and died instantly. Gosfield had also been suffering from diabetes, heart trouble and other complications.

After Gosfield died in 1964, rather than make a new series, Hanna-Barbera decided not to, out of respect for Gosfield. William Hanna commented it was “a tragic loss”. The Jetsons, a cartoon that aired in Top Cat’s place, sent a message to Gosfield after the latest episode “IN LOVING MEMORY OF MAURICE GOSFIELD 1913–1964”.

I actually think both. Cash from DUP and money laundering from other criminality from Northern Ireland.
