The bedrock Celtic built their record-breaking league win on last was the defence; we went months without conceding, serious chances for opponents were written up lustily. A large part of the summer shambles was the contrasting nature of our defensive play; Legia Warsaw scored six but they also missed a hatful.
While our results have improved in recent weeks it’s the defensive record which has shown the most marked up-lift. We’ve conceded only twice in seven games, a ricochet against Astra and that goal against Hamilton. By contrast, we kept only a solitary clean sheet in the seven games prior to this run.
On the surface, we looked shaky in defence for the latter parts of the game against Inverness on Saturday, but while there is still work to do, the defence can be encouraged that they are able to withstand sustained pressure – and that they can rely on their keeper, when necessary.
A couple of action points for you:
Magners are donating £18,300 to the Celtic Foundation. The money will go to the four areas the Foundation work: Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty, in proportion to how fans nominate those areas. To participate, tweet @MagnersUK with one of the following hashtags: #Health, #Equality, #Learning or #Poverty.
Magners have been a great help to our campaign to build a fourth CQN school kitchen for Mary’s Meals in recent weeks, so I’m keen we support and encourage this initiative. £18,300 is a huge bonus for the Foundation, they will do great work with it.
The Foundation are full on with their Christmas strategy at the moment. This year money will be split between those who look after the homeless and vulnerable, and individual families – identified by grassroots organisations, to help them buy gifts for kids and put a Christmas meal on the table.
This work is being done in your name, so make sure you’re aware of it.
The inaugural Foundation ladies’ lunch event, Ghirls for Good, takes place on Saturday 13 December, proceeds towards the Christmas Appeal. If you qualify……. Book here.

Your behaviour tonight is uncalled for
You appeared to be a nice chap when I met you a few weeks ago
No idea why you consider it necessary to be so abusive
….PFayr
At least I had the decency to name you in my post.
You just post anonymously.
Give it up.
FF deserve you more.
Good morning to all my Celtic loving people.
I see the blog is a bit fractured again.
O.k a wee lightener.
I asked anybody to regale us with a story about
the strangest place or time or anything where they
had met fellow Celts, i gave you a couple yesterday
and here’s another, scroll buy if your bored already.
Celtic v Feyenoord in Milan
Decided i was going, no job, no money recently new
bride but i was still going.
How will you get there says the princess
i’ll hitch hike says me as i set off with my haversack
and a couple cans of food.
Miraculously i made the middle of France but couldn’t
get any further despite thousands passing in cars
busses etc so took to the backroads to eat my last can
of beans, lying in a field sunning myself i heard the magical
strains of …hail..hail the celts are here …my heart lifting
thinking i will get a lift , a lone Celt marching along a deserted
farm road with a banner held aloft, no top on and no bag or
anything but obviously well pashed couldn’t get any sense out
of him except ..im gon tae Milan… as he marched on
Always wonder what became of him.

Perhaps your not such a nice chap after all
Look above …I named you
I was merely explaining that I don’t hate the CFC manager …perhaps you don’t understand the meaning of the word
Your rabble rousing keyboard hardman routine is quite embarrassing for a man of your age
Bankiebhoy-
The Bulgarians gave us Levski Sofia in 1993. Another fine example of Walturd being handed his dinner on a plate in the diddy rounds of European competition.

My best experience like that was while traveling through Italy about 10 years ago ….. was with my girlfriend in Siena… as I often do when I am traveling, I was wearing the hoops … another couple approached us … the fella’s face lit up …. in a heavily accented (German) english, he said ‘Ahh, Celtic’ with a big smile on his face … pointed to his chest and said ‘Dortmund’ ….
He clearly didn’t speak any other English, and I dont speak German, so I just smiled and said ‘Lambert’ and gave him the thumbs up … his face lit up … he said “larsson’, and gave it a thumbs up… I responded….
the four of us walked for 1/2 hour through Siena, he and I laughing and throwing out names of footballers we (both) admired….

It is dud Celtic supporters like you who get my dander up.
All you do is slag and criticise! Even when we are winning.
What do you want or expect?
Seriously!
At a time when we are downsizing.
I have followed Celtic through thick and thin, mostly thin, since the early 50’s.
I am loving Celtic today!
Just loving Celtic today.
You wouldn’t understand.
Shame.
Or maybe not.
Mike in Toronto
Isn’t it wonderful how our club brings us together.

I always wear the hoops when I am on holiday. By most fashion standards, I know that with my size and age, most would say that I should have outgrown them by now ….but that experience has not been uncommon on my travels, so I persist.
There have been a few jerks, but for the most part, wearing the hoops does seem to bring people together.
With that in mind, perhaps, we should put a rule on CQN …. no posting unless you are wearing the hoops!
C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now if you don’t beat Astra on Thusrday there’ll be fireworks on here.
God forbid.
geordie munro,
Naive play by Arsenal, probably fair result after the last game.
