The bedrock Celtic built their record-breaking league win on last was the defence; we went months without conceding, serious chances for opponents were written up lustily. A large part of the summer shambles was the contrasting nature of our defensive play; Legia Warsaw scored six but they also missed a hatful.
While our results have improved in recent weeks it’s the defensive record which has shown the most marked up-lift. We’ve conceded only twice in seven games, a ricochet against Astra and that goal against Hamilton. By contrast, we kept only a solitary clean sheet in the seven games prior to this run.
On the surface, we looked shaky in defence for the latter parts of the game against Inverness on Saturday, but while there is still work to do, the defence can be encouraged that they are able to withstand sustained pressure – and that they can rely on their keeper, when necessary.

I’m absolutely certain that Jock Stein did exactly that with Big Frank Munro and Jock played him in a debute against Rangers at Celtic Park. Frank may also have been our captain in that game.

Sipsini you can check by going into settings and checking for updates. If it says you’re already up to date it has probably been downloaded. The other clue is a red highlight on your settings app that lets you know the update is available. I’ve had no end of issues since downloading it and the spawn that was supposed to correct the problems it causes.

At the risk of getting caught in the crossfire I’d say it’s entirely possible to be a top Tim and be chuffed about our recent success while enraged that we’ve not put miles of green water between us and the FOD.
And also to appreciate some of what our board has achieved while also being incredibly angry about issues such as the living wage, complicity in poor treatment of fans and a deafening silence on the Deidco issue.

Loved that Lyon game. Hated the bitter cold end to the campaign in France with our bobo’s boob.
Still we had a post Xmas Europa run and fun in Teplice Barca and Villarreal.
That season I was lucky enough to see celtic in all 16 European games played. More than they have ever played in any season.
It was of course completely unsustainable and we had the last and best of The KOK.
The team played much better than the Seville season too.
A wee bounce of the ball here or there and what Porto achieved might not have been out of our grasp that year.
