Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players. He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.
Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev. Ronny has some serious decisions to make.
Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity? New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.
Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind. On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.
My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.
Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well? The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:
Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?
Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.
You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.
Thanks for helping.
Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

Sarcasm Ernie?
For what its worth…..
My mate knows a guy in Ayrshire who under the guise of
“Somerset Boab” has raised over £20,000 for Ayr Utd.
This has taken all sorts of on line & personal fundraising
events where he sings AUFC songs etc.
The guy has 2000 followers on social media.
Last week he asked anyone who followed him to simply
state Yes or No in reply to what their voting intentions were.
Seemingly ( just been told) he had 1005 replies.
Result was 732 for Yes.
Obviously open to examination, however the latest opinion poles
may be wrong.
Just sayin like. HH

Did you know that there is an Orange Lodge based in the UK Parliament whose members are made up of serving Westminster MPs?
David Simpson MP posted a picture of himself and around ten other members draped in their regalia at one of their orange lodge meetings in the Palace of Westminster tonight.
Do you consider that the presence of an orange lodge within the House of Commons, made up of serving MPs, is an affront to democracy given that organisation’s discriminatory attitude towards Roman Catholics?
How does the presence of this odious organisation within the heart of the UK parliament sit with the argument that in being governed by Westminster we are all better together?

Why not footballers on either side?

Will many on here vote the way Rupert tells them?

Like you I have reservations about Ronny. However, he deserves to be given a chance.
He’s now had some backing from the board and we can only hope that the new additions are players he genuinely wanted.
Let’s see what happens now.
Agreed, shaky start but lets see what he does with the new guys on board

Just been fed. I would strongly suggest that ALL natural born Scots from outside Scotland get their noses out of this referendum. It has nothing to do with you. You chose, for one reason, or another, to leave your land of birth. I have no problems with that. That was the path you chose to take. So, please, let the residents of Scotland decide, as is our privilege, to decide our future, as you may well have to decide your future in the land you have decided to relocate to. Be assured, Scots will have no say, or will be welcomed, whatsoever in any debate that throws up. Maybe I’m getting old. Aye right. KTF.

That is really, really sad that you mocked the fact that people died for either a laugh or to win a political debate.
You really need to think before you post and you owe the blog an apology IMO.

I know many including me prefer Broonie on the right, but I think he’ll be back there with Johansen.
Be a while before we see another Wanyama but I know the kind of player you mean.
One sits and on presses in the “2” of the 4231, I like Biton in there too. Two def mids also in the alternate 433, where Brown covering the right can be accommodated.
We’ll just have to wait and see!

I’d just like to thank (and mini GB….now Doc GB) all of those who offered their congtrats yesterday to my beautiful daughter, who after 10 years of very hard work and discipline has successfully defended her doctoral submission at Edinburgh Uni. She will wear the mantle in November and we are delighted for her success after such a hard road, via 4 years at Aberdeen Uni with a first class honours (always bad hair days), St. Andrews for her Masters and nearly 4 years at Edinburgh for her PhD. She is on the way home at the moment; her Mam picking her up at Frankfurt airport and I am so much looking forward to giving her a big congratulation HUG!
I’d like to say thanks very much for the great comments yesterday from:

Grow up you clown.
I was making the point that the fact there was a famine wasn’t necessarily the fault of the English.
It’s not exactly difficult to understand.
I’m guessing you’re yes voter.
There are more foodbanks in Scotland than Waitrose Stores. Kick that one in to touch. KTF.

The fans down Govan way remind me of a swimmer in the ocean trying to get to shore before the circling sharks do the business on him. Unfortunately around his ankles hanging by chains are Ibrox, Murray Park and the parking lot. If only he could get rid of the ties that bind.
Without all that baggage and at the same time having the numbers (thousands and thousands of fans) that could easily put them on a new path that could very soon be a path envied by everybody. However their baggage is the stuff around their ankles and that’s the same baggage that the spivs (Asian or otherwise) rely on to keep the gullibles in line.
Good evening friends.

The offensive behaviour act is idiotic legislation that criminalises football fans at the whim and word of individual police officers. Meanwhile orange parades are allowed to run amok the length and breadth of the country spreading bigotry hatred and intolerance at taxpayers expense. That is not fair or just.
But it is certainly also completely unjust that the Orange Order has it’s very own lodge inside the House of Commons made up of serving MPs. There is something sick and sinister about that given the orange order’s attitude towards Catholics.
No wonder there is so much intolerance afoot in Britain when organisations such as the orange order thrive within the Uk parliament.
Maybe the MPs claim the costs of their sashes on expenses.
