Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players. He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.
Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev. Ronny has some serious decisions to make.
Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity? New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.
Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind. On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.
My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.
Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well? The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:
Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?
Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.
You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.
Thanks for helping.
Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

Glad you were only kidding.
I thought your comment to JJ was a tad harsh.
Even for a taxi driver ;- ))

Aye well you have the Horse and Barge, and Divas, I can only offer her the Hibs club and Fallones, tight call I would have thought

Why thank you but don’t encourage me :).
I find it fascinating what is happening and confess I have my own fears of the material effect on me, but spiritually I have to let what will be, be.
What I would love to see is an awakening throughout the country (UK) where the best of left and right unites in recognising just how interdependent we really are.
I think a close No has more chance of bringing that about than a close Yes.
A big majority either way will be a victory for separation thinking which I obviously do not subscribe to but have learned to live with.

Not really. The only thing a taxi-driver usually says to a cyclist is
“Sorry, mate. You musta been in my blind spot!”

Like you I have reservations about Ronny. However, he deserves to be given a chance.
He’s now had some backing from the board and we can only hope that the new additions are players he genuinely wanted.
Let’s see what happens now.

as a people we suffered more than the scots,
several famines, forced emigration, loss of our language
but the scots have have been emasculated by westminister for generations

Ronny plays a system which is used by some of the most successful teams in the World. It’s also been used by teams which regularly punch above their weight. It varies in different modes of play, adapts to suit opposition and changes shape dependent of trying to win the ball and then when in position.
He’s been to study at several clubs including Dortmund and Man City.

Poor girl she looks like she could be strangled at any second by the cord for the window blind!!!
Glad you enjoyed your ghirl’s big day pal.
I don’t think there are many similarities at all between Irish and Scottish independence.
It is an insult to the fallen Irishmen and Irishwomen in the many wars of Irish Independence.
Like comparing a true warrior like Michael Collins with a talking head like Alex Salmond.
No comparison……..

With the greatest of respect genuinely, your question to Pog is none of your business

When the oil experts warned of the dangers it was scare mongering, when the banks an financial institutions spoke of job losses, increased taxes an interest rates well who wud trust those nasty bankers anyway, when the retailers warned us prices wud go up then they are only worried bout own profit. I get that.
What i don’t get is how do working families, paying more taxes, higher mortgages an spending more on messages end up with a fairer more just Scotland after independence? Im confused by this. Im goin to pay more tax, effective wage cut, shopping goes up an my mortgage payments go up, triple whammy so how does independence make Scotland more just an fairer. I keep gettin told it but nobody tells me how, its just empty words an platitudes with nothing behind it to back it up.
Looking forward to the game this weekend, seems like an age since last at Celtic Park
Bow down to your imperial Labour masters.
That is belly laugh out loud stuff.

On interdependence. See when there is closure on Res12? What an example of interdependence that has been.
Four more unlikely characters thrown together by circumstances you are unlikely to meet.
Or were we?
Cue twilight zone music. :)
Really looking forward to the game on Saturday, even if it is early kick off home game. Lets hope its the start of vaste inprovement in the team’s performance.

I appreciate you are commenting on previous posts.
But I don’t think there has to be any comparison between the two.
People living in Scotland have a choice to make next week. Folk will vote Yes or No for all sorts of reasons but I’d be surprised if many of them are thinking about Ireland.

Compared to Duntocher, Jordanhill is a desert. Miss Mir would enjoy a night in the Hibs followed by a bag of Fallones chips wi a pickle. :)

Over 4.2 million now registered to vote. I take the point that many socially and financially disenfranchised people may not vote on the day.
However it is surely not unreasonable to presume that the numbers from that section of society who have registered with the specific intention of voting in the referendum will proceed to turn out on the day and vote.
97% of the adult population are now registered to vote, apparently an all time record.
Who’s brilliant idea was it to send up that walloper Prescott? ..a fekn dinosaur

In the last decade of the 17thC Scotland suffered it’s worst ever famine.
Reports suggest that as much as 15% of the population died from starvation.
Are the bankers talking of relocating to London the same men that had to be bailed out at tax payers expense 5 years back ? Experts indeed.

Perhaps not.

‘In the last decade of the 17thC Scotland suffered it’s worst ever famine. ‘

Is that because the English ate all the food?
Yes ex footballers are entitled to an opinion and vote but I object to an unholy alliance of ex ‘old firm’ players telling us to vote no on front pages of our propoganda sheets.
Say no to the old old firm
Vote YES

Are you 139? Am flying solo on Saturday. Jr working overtime.
Irish independence and Scottish independence are different.
Especially if you are only willing to compare the last 100 years or so.
But that wasn’t TimJims question.

I suppose Pog will decide
Sorry for butting in. I would tell you in the politest of terms to GTF of course ;-)

I don`t see what is wrong asking why somone living in Germany can vote. It`s a perfectly valid question, since you living in Swindon apparently can`t vote. Even though you have dual citizenship with Killwinning.
Scottish independence and Rangers being liquidated again in the same month.
Get a grip bhoys ..tooooooooooooo gooooooooooooood toooooo beeee Truuuuuuuuue

How can you get liquidated again?

It will be fairer because Wee Eck and his pals like Angus Grossart and the AAM EBT guy will be looking out for you!

My biggest concern about RD would be if he continues to persevere with a system that he does not have the players to play
Hopefully one or both the new forwards will be able to play up front through the middle by themselves
However we still lack a proper defensive midfielder who could protect the defence the way that big Victor did
Most games are won and lost in the middle of the park and I would be afraid that if we try to play with 2 against 3 in there on Saturday we will lose out!
